Sim Title: "The House of Kharas", Part 2
After Marines from the Coronado secured the five rebel Klingon Birds of
Prey, warriors loyal to Ka'tek crewed all five ships. With Coro in the
center of the formation, we got underway towards Qo'noS. There are nine
days until Ka'tek must appear in the Great Hall. Since it is just over an
eight day trip at the best speed of Ka'tek's new ships, we decided to
complete repairs to those ships while en route. Engineering teams from Coro
have boarded all five ships to work.
However, a significant rebel presence was still at large in the immediate
area. It didn't take long for the rebels to reveal themselves, either.
Initially, they attempted a feint with one of the Birds of Prey, apparently
attempting to discern our numbers. This was not entirely successful --
Ka'tek apparently decided to leave the majority of his force in reserve, but
one of his new ships attacked the rebel ship as Coro approached. Since the
ships were almost exactly evenly matched, both ships eventually disabled
each other just as Coronado arrived.
Beaming the survivors from both ships onto our own, we then proceeded to
scuttle both ships and continue on course. Ka'tek elected to keep his
remaining four ships in reserve. Overall, it seemed to be a good trade
for us -- the rebels are now down to only three ships to our five. However,
we soon learned that the rebel Bird of Prey was a lure -- while Coro moved
in, the other three ships laid a gravitic minefield around our position.
Coro soon detected the field, but not in time to avoid being trapped in it.
