Sim Title: "Eyes Bright with Purpose", Part 3
Leaving the Moltar fleet behind to continue their journey without further
interference, Coronado instead turned to the former home planet of this
apparently xenophobic race. Upon our arrival in the MJ-1043 system, short
range sensors were able to confirm what long range telemetry had told us:
that the former Moltar home system was a double-star system ringed by a pair
of asteroid belts. However, much of the debris was organic, and Coro moved
in closer to investigate.
After careful scanning of the debris, we reached the conclusion that the
Moltar records were correct: the asteroid belts were the remains of two
class M planets destroyed 250 years prior. Cadet Oswald confirmed a high
mass-density explosion had destroyed both planets, strongly suggesting that
the Killers were probably involved. Strangely, though, it seems that the
Moltar records of an insect-like race of conquerors was ALSO correct,
because the vacuum-preserved corpses of many were apparent in the system.
Strangest of all, Coro discovered that a number of the asteroids had been
hollowed out and that a class M environment was being maintained within
them. Commander Tal and Major Ironside led an Away team to one and
discovered a suite of fairly advanced electronics. Ensign Kosh was able to
confirm that the electronics comprised a sensor system of some kind -- a
sensor system sweeping nearby planetary systems for neutronium. The Away
team's arrival apparently awakened one of the insect-like keepers from
hibernation -- the team was forced to flee, but not before being forced to
kill the insect lifeform before it could fully awaken...
