Sim Title: "Kyrie Eleison", Part 3
While the Coronado's Marine and Engineering contingents saw to the
construction of temporary refugee camps on Zadar 4, Lt. Commander Tal's
away team continued their sweep of the system. While in orbit of the 6th
planet in the system, they discovered a number of "robots" mining the
planet's gasses and constructing more robots of the same type out of those
raw materials. Before the shuttle could investigate further, the robots
constructed some kind of neutronium weapon which attacked the shuttle! Tal
ordered a quick return to the Coro.
Coro herself prepared to recover the damaged shuttle. Since the neutronium
weapon could not be destroyed, it required quick flying on Lt. Dejat's part
to avoid the approaching weapon and dock the shuttle safely. Once Tal's
team was aboard (though with minor injuries), Coronado begun evading the
weapon and launched her Spectre fighters. Once the fighters were clear,
Coro went to warp, losing the weapon. The Thunderbirds were successful in
using their superior manueverability to trick the weapon into an impact
with the fifth planet.
With the Away team secured and construction on the 4th planet continuing,
Coronado proceeded to the 3rd planet. Commander Lora had received word
that there would be no contact ship arriving -- the ship assigned to do so
had "other priorities," according to her CO. It therefore fell to Lora,
under Vice Admiral Aldur's orders, to conduct the first contact. Beaming
down with Major Brennan and Lieutenant Trq, Lora conducted a textbook
peaceful first contact with a leading scientist on Zadar 3. This scientist
was then beamed to Coronado.
