 Frequency modulation radio broadcast, 104.3 MHz

 INTERCEPT BEGINS.

 Announcer: "...we're speaking with Dr. Alais Jorba, a Relka prize-winning
 mathemetician and physicist about the dramatic events of just a few days
 ago. We'll be taking your calls in a moment. Dr. Jorba, we understand you
 have some startling theories about what is happening here. Could you share
 those with our listeners?"

 Dr. Jorba: "All right. By now, everyone has heard about the two objects
 which struck our planet a few days ago. If these objects are as heavy as we
 think, they should be very big. But when they hit the oceans, they didn't
 make much of a splash. So, they can't be both heavy... and big. Heavy and
 small, that's something else. Not much energy transfer to the sea bottom.
 Not much of an impact area. So, we can make some logical deductions."

 Announcer: "Go on..."

 Dr. Jorba: "Well, both objects are very dense. Say that they're made of
 neutronium. That fits the bill -- neutronium is matter squeezed down to
 push electrons and protons together to make neutrons. Nothing but neutrons.
 Never mind where the aliens would get this neutronium. Don't ask me. I
 also don't know how they keep a lump of neutronium squeezed together. The
 second object throws off a lot of sparks and causes radiation poisoning.
 Some people say the second object is making most of the noise, inside."

 Announcer: "Inside our planet, you mean."

 Dr. Jorba: "Yes, exactly. That speaks to me. That tells me something.
 Two objects. Let's assume one is neutronium, then the other might be made
 of antineutrons, antineutronium. When two opposite particles meet, they
 annihilate each other completely. So now we have two objects, falling
 through the planet. Neutronium is very dense compared with rock. These
 objects -- let's call them bullets -- would orbit within our planet,
 passing through the core as if it were very thin air. They would not slow
 down very much during each orbit."

 Announcer: "That's... that's incredible."

 Dr. Jorba: "I'm afraid it gets worse. The antineutronium bullet would
 interact with the planet's material, creating a sort of ambi-plasma, which
 would prevent that bullet from blowing up all at once. However, it would
 slow down much more quickly than the neutronium bullet. It comes to rest
 at the planet's core, hissing and sparking, making lots of noise. When the
 other bullet slows down enough to also come to rest, the two meet. And I
 don't know what would happen after that."

 Announcer: "Perhaps this ambi-... whatever would keep them separated."

 Dr. Jorba: "Yes, yes, that's good thinking. But perhaps the pressure at
 the center of the planet would hold them together long enough for them to
 fuse."

 Announcer: "What would happen then?"

 Dr. Jorba: "Complete annihilation of 400 million tons of matter. Think of
 it as a sort of time delay bomb with a fuse controlled by gravity."

 Announcer: (sickly) "That's... quite a theory, doctor... how long...
 would you say it would take for the two... bullets to meet?"

 Dr. Jorba: "No more than a few tendays at most..."
