Sim Title: "Kyrie Eleison", Part 2
With Zadar 3 under a sentence of death, and the planet only having a few
weeks to live, Commander Lora contacted Starfleet for assistance. They
first confirmed the Commander's interpretation that the Prime Directive no
longer applies to the Zadarians: they were deliberately attacked by an
outside source rather than a victim of a natural phenomenon. They informed
Lora that another ship with a more "experienced" CO would be sent to
conduct first contact. In addition, a pair of colony ships were en route
to help evacuate the population.
In the meantime, Starfleet ordered Lora to begin the preparations for the
evacuation by setting up refugee camps on the 4th planet in the system,
which is marginally class M. Lora passed this order on to Major Brennan,
whose Marines along with Coro's engineers began construction of temporary
domes and other living spaces on the surface. The Commander also ordered
Commander Tal to conduct a search of the system for any other alien
artifacts or evidence of their presence that might be about. Meanwhile,
Lt. Trq began the preparations for the evacuation itself.
Once these tasks were underway, Lora visited Mr. Dalton and inquired about
the possibility of contacting pirate or smuggler vessels to aid in the
evacuation. Lora offered immunity to any ship willing to assist in
addition to payment for their services. Dalton promised to see what he
could do. Finally, Commander Tal's search time found evidence of alien
activity near the 6th planet in the system, but when they closed to
investigate, their shuttle was attacked by some kind of self-directed
neutronium weapon constructed by machines orbiting that planet!
