U.S.S. Coronado Captain's Log, Stardate 50643.1
Captain Brian Aldur, recording
U.S.S. Coronado is currently en route from from the former Bajoran home
system to Starbase 375. The Bajoran system's star has gone nova, the
apparent result of a trilithium explosive used in the system. Final reports
from the Bajoran system transmitted by the U.S.S. Defiant indicate a
changeling installed the explosive aboard one of DS9's own runabouts. Once
installed, the changeling committed suicide to detonate the explosive in the
corona of the star.
More than six hundred ships were in the Bajoran system before the explosion.
Defiant and most of the rest of that Allied fleet that were in the system at
the time have been destroyed. 22 ships survived the blast, including
Coronado.
In addition, Deep Space Nine and 12 of the Bajoran system's 14 planets were
destroyed by the shockwave, including Bajor itself... it is hard to calculate
the magnitude of this tragedy. Some four billion people lost their lives
today, not even including the manifests of the more than three hundred
starships in the system at the time of the explosion.
The wormhole... however... survived. We may come to wish it hadn't.
Following the explosion, the wormhole opened and thousands of Dominion ships
came pouring out. We have been forced to retreat, and there is no doubt that
the long-awaited war has finally begun in earnest.
With a blow like we have taken today, however, I see no way in which we can
emerge victorious.

U.S.S. Coronado Captain's Log, supplemental
Fleet Captain Brian Aldur, recording
Today is Stardate 52463.0.
Unfortunately, every Federation time beacon in this part of the galaxy
disagrees with me. Somehow, nearly a year has been wiped off the calendar.
Not only have we not already won the Dominion War, but some kind of temporal
phenomenon has returned my crew and I to the opening months of the war. The
log that preceeds this one, presumably recorded by my counterpart from this
alternate universe, tells the horrid tale.
A tale that my crew and I remember another way.
We know from final reports from our timeline that a Starfleet Engineering
team boarded Coronado. Only seconds before we found ourselves here, Major
Wallace reported a massive power build-up in the Coro's Jaunt system.
However, the drive insists that we are in our own time, and of course there
is no way to Jaunt to what the drive sees as the "future."
Some of my crew have advocated the possibility of refighting the Dominion
War using our knowledge of future events. With our knowledge of Dominion
offenses... the Son'a incursions... the capture of DS9... the Breen entry
in the war... Quite frankly, we could probably save billions of lives.
Unfortunately, I simply cannot allow that. History has made its decisions.
The war has been fought, and the conclusion, though bitter, is one that we
must accept. I cannot allow this alternate timeline to continue. I have
ordered my officers to find a way to reverse the damage done to the
timeline and return us to where we belong.
I can only hope that such a thing is possible.
