After the communications link was broken, Aldur quickly pulled the
sidearm attached to the stormtrooper uniform he had... borrowed...
and pointed it at the door to the control room. After a few
moments, it became clear that although the transmission had been
picked up, the Imperials weren't aware of his location yet.

He suspected his good fortune had a lot of that had to do with the
design of Imperial starships. Huge and bulky, and without the
massive computer cores available to Federation ships, they seemed
to rely on large numbers of local control centers to handle the
duties of specific sectors of the ship. Sneaking around the
corridors of the Fire Lance had allowed him to pinpoint the
locations of several, and after appropriating the uniform he was
wearing from its previous owner, he was able to walk calmly into
 one without drawing attention.

Another good hour of experimentation (fortunately, the large
number of control rooms meant that any given room was empty much
of the time) allowed him to access external communications -- he
thought. Aldur couldn't say for sure if his message had gone
out or not, or with what quality, but in any case, it was time
 to move on.

Scooping up the stormtrooper helmet and putting it on, then
reholstering the sidearm, Aldur left the control room, heading
for the mess hall he had visited earlier in the day. Although
he had eaten heartily and long, he was again hungry, and took
 that as a good sign.

Walking down the corridor, Aldur tried to remember the last time
he had been in this much personal danger. Command of the Coro
was perilous, of course, but he always had the comforting
presence of his ship and crew around him. {{Probably on the
Gryphon, during an away mission}} he thought as he walked and
felt a sudden burst of melancholy.

Captain John, Tenna, Baker, Callie... he wondered what they were
up to these days, and whether they were safe, how they were
faring in the Dominion war. A troop of stormtroopers walked by
him, going in the other direction, their bootheels loud in the
cramped corridor. Suddenly, he laughed to himself.

{{They're probably not stuck alone on an enemy ship billions of
light-years from home, thousands of years in the past,}} he
 thought to himself wryly.  {{Get your mind back on the mission.}}
With that good advice, he smiled inside the helmet and continued
toward the mess hall, wondering idly to himself if it would be
possible to steal an Imperial shuttle.
