The blackness of space. And through it, several squadrons of Rebel
fighters, a Calamari Cruiser, and two Frigates waited at the hyperspace
point to launch themselves at an Imperial force a few parsecs away. Much
nearer that force, the Rebel elite Rogue Fighter squadron was on a recon
mission, reporting their data back to the fleet...

"Rogue Leader, this is Rogue Two... I've got the Imperial fleet on forward
scanners." Wedge Antilles reached forward and twisted a small knob in his
Incom X-Wing Fighter. The voice of the young flight leader of Rogue
group, Commander Luke Skywalker, was audible in the speakers in his grey
 and orange flight helmet.

"What have you got for me, Wedge?"

Wedge strained his eyes, trying to interpret the images on his proton
scanners. "Three Imperial Star Destroyers and two Interdictor class
Cruisers... the second one is definately mounting the Fire Lance
weapon..." Wedge frowned at the image on the scanner. There was
definately a sixth ship in the group, perhaps a corvette, but he
 couldn't make out the type...

 ----------

"Admiral, the Fleet has moved out of light-speed and engaged a Rebel
Corvette. The Fire Lance test WAS successful, sir... the ship was wiped
 out... but..."

 "Spit it out, Commander."

"Well, another ship appeared in the area that the Corvette vacated,
Admiral. It's another small Corvette, apparently of Corellian design...
a disk shaped hull and engine pods. There appear to be two smaller disks,
mounted above and below the main one. However, we do not have this
particular ship type on file. In addition, it is radiating a power output
equal to that of three to four Cruisers."

"Three to four... Cruisers? Impossible! No ship that small can generate
that much power. Tractor them, and get me that ship's Commander."

 ----------

Captain Brian Aldur waved at the smoke on the Bridge... the atmospheric
recycling systems were working, but too slowly, and two small electrical
fires were still burning on the aft deck, the fire suppression systems
working but fitfully. Half the displays on the Bridge were obscured by
smoke and grime, the other half were damaged. Most of the indicators were
red -- the Jaunt had ended, but where the hell were they?

 "Report!" Aldur barked.

"Bridge from Engineering!" The voice of Lt. Commander Rakadinte sounded
over the Bridge comm system. "Captain, warp drive is down! The dilithium
crystals are shattered, the articulation frame with it. We're not going
anywhere, except at impulse. In addition... the Jaunt drive, sir... well,
it's destroyed. Wherever we are, we're trapped here."

Across the Bridge at Science, Lt. DuLac whispered, his voice mixed with
fear and awe. "My Lord Captain, we have ventured out of our own galaxy,
and through two others... to the D7 galaxy..."

But Rakadinte was still talking... "...and according to the chronometric
field calculations, we've gone back in time 5000 years."

Aldur collapsed backwards into his command chair. "A long time ago, in a
galaxy far, far away..." he whispered to himself.

"Captain! Three ships on approach! They're hailing us!"

Aldur composed himself and stood. "On screen, Lieutenant Fraser."

In the Coro's holographic tank, three enormous wedge-shaped starships were
replaced by three men, apparently human, wearing green and grey uniforms.
"This is the Imperial Star Destroyer Marauder," the one in the middle
said. "State your business in this sector."

Almost simultaneously, a tractor beam snared the Coronado...
