Aldur, with Lt. Commander DuLac on one side and Ensign Wallace on the
other, materialized on the Camelynian carrier. No sooner had he arrived
than he looked around his surroundings in shock and wonder. Somewhere
close by, a trumpet fanfare shattered the stillness, but it seemed somehow
 completely appropriate to the surroundings.

The carrier, one of the central ships of the Quest Fleet, was enormous
even by Starfleet standards -- well over 600 meters long and nearly as
wide, the ship resembled nothing so much as a hollowed-out sphere with
four warp nacelles attached at even spaces along the hull. There were a
pair of such carriers in the Quest Fleet, designed to carry the white
swept-wing Camelynian fighters into battle. There were also a number of
destroyer-size ships, but they were far less massive than either the
carriers. Seemingly more utilitarian than beautiful, they were
nevertheless striking in that they seemed to resemble long, pointed
lances. All the ships featured the crests of various Camelynian noble
 houses, but were otherwise unadorned.

What Aldur was not expecting, however, was the interior of the carrier.
The Away team materialized on a grassy field with a castle visible in the
far distance. High overhead, an almost perfect illusion of blue sky
arched over the field, and nearby, a line of pennons was snapping in the
light breeze. While it wasn't holodeck-level precision, the illusion was
impressive, all the more so for the dozen mounted knights apparently
jousting in a field set up behind the pennons. On another field on the
opposite side of the plain, more knights practiced swordsmanship.

DuLac was the only one of the three who didn't stop a moment to take in
the surroundings, but instead approached a group of knights standing near
the beam-down point. Reaching them, he embraced them one by one, starting
with an older gentleman wearing blue robes and a talberd. Aldur and
Wallace waited until what was clearly a family reunion was completed
before approaching. DuLac then turned and introduced his Captain to his
 father.

"Thy craven opponents were quite frolicsome," the elder DuLac, Sir
Reginald, Prince of Caerleon, said to Aldur with a gleam in his eye after
the introductions had been completed. "Unfortunately, their cowardice
hast deprived us of much entertainment this day. I am pleased, however,
to see that the skill and honor of thy Starfleet hast not been
 exaggerated."

DuLac's amusement was infectious; Aldur chuckled. "And I am honored and
pleased to meet such a worthy ally," he said formally. "I can see that
my Science Officer comes by his courage and intellect honestly."

"Indeed," the elder DuLac replied, glancing at his son. "Your
forgiveness, Lord Fleet Captain, but I am most anxious for news of my
planet and people. I would beg thy forgiveness and hope that the demands
 of courtesy have been met?"

Aldur was startled that the greeting had been cut so short, but buried
that surprise. "If not, Sir Reginald," he replied, "we can lie later
about how excruciatingly polite we were to each other."

The knight threw his head back and laughed, the clapped the Captain on
the shoulder. "Sir, I canst see those stories my son sees fit to share
of thee fall far shy of the mark. Come," he said, "let us break bread
together and discuss the particulars of why thou hast sought me out."
