[19:05] Stardate 240402.02: "The Adversary", Part 1, by Jester. [19:05] SUMMARY: Obvious in retrospect... [19:05] Coronado is currently some 100 light-years "northeast" of Reorsan space; among other things, we began investigating a spatial anomaly near one of the Pfhor controlled systems that matches the energy signature of a similar anomaly in J043 -- that anomaly was also associated with a time loop. [19:05] During the investigation, a small ship emerged from the anomaly. This ship initiated a short series of time loops that, like most of the time loops somewhat common to M64, was a local phenomenon. Most of the crew have full memories of the two/three loops in which Coronado was involved. [19:05] However, the final loop ended suddenly and apparently unsuccessfully. Memories of the small ship and its occupant, a Captain Stewart Wallace, are fading like a dream upon waking and we have no way of knowing the current situation in the Saris system, so integral to Wallace's mission... [19:05] Briefing complete. [19:06] ackety ack [19:06] ack [19:06] ack [19:06] ack [19:06] confused ack [19:06] ack [19:06] ack [19:06] ack [19:06] ack [19:06] ack [19:06] ack [19:06] ack [19:06] ack [19:07] Coronado is back in the ring nebula formed around the red giant star some 100 light-years NE of Reorsa. The anomaly and its associated energy field are in place, but are significantly smaller than they were through the time loops. [19:07] ack [19:08] A day or so has passed since last sim, enough time for people to have had conversations about what happened. Also enough time for Lora Kor to once again order two Wraith Liberators to Coronado's position and for Commanders D'rall and Skylooker to reconstruct their research. [19:08] Any questions? [19:08] ::raises:: [19:08] ::raises:: [19:08] Commander Savant? [19:08] computers don't forget things like people. Have Savants' databases "forgotten" everything like all of your mushy organic databases have? [19:09] No, but there's an odd "split" in Savant's memory. She has two sets of memories for the same time indices. [19:09] Very distracting. [19:09] that's all, then. thank you ^_^ [19:09] Sounds like a lot of "Are you sure you wish to over-write this file"s :) [19:10] BTW, welcome back to Captain Jarod Bentall, who will be rejoining Coro for the final 10 sims, taking over the S-2 Group Intelligence Officer slot vacated abruptly by Commander Marcy. ;) [19:10] Welcome back, Captain Bentall. You had a question? [19:10] Thank you. :) I'm assuming there was also enough time for Bentall to have arrived? [19:11] Plenty. This area is suddenly of great interest to those back home, and there have been Arrow-class packets going back and forth. Presumably Bentall caught one. [19:11] ::nods:: Great. [19:58] CIC> It must be those shuttles making the anomaly expand. [19:58] Any indications of...how? Is the beam from Xanadu not having it's usual effect? [19:58] M> ::looks at her and sighs, nodding:: [19:58] CIC> ::looks to the admiral:: Nearest reinforcement capital-class ship is an hour forty. The Defiant patrol is an hour five. [19:59] She's firing blanks... ::pauses:: Anything unusual happening within Xanadu herself? [19:59] Suggest we poke our nose in where we're not wanted, Captain. [19:59] Denied. ::growls:: [19:59] ::shrugs, flipping through different displays on her screen:: There's no change in the beam from Xanadu, so there must be something unusal about this anomaly. [19:59] CIC> I'm willing to bet that they are. [20:00] CIC> Savant, confirm this for me: I believe Alicia told us that Xanadu can't close an anomaly, but can hold it "steady"? [20:00] CIC> ::glances over:: Rest of the task group is coming in now. [20:00] CIC> ::nods:: That's a thought actually. Might be a good idea for us to engage them and flush them out before Xanadu tries again. [20:00] CIC> That's correct, Tebrun. [20:01] Those Xur must be doing something to it. Any word from the Valkyrie yet Captain? [20:01] CIC> Engaging them inside that field, though... not a great idea. They're emitting a black-boson particle wave that seems to be making the anomaly grow [20:01] E> ::lets his hands fly over his consol making adjustments and taking readings as needed:: [20:01] CIC> Then they are interfering... [20:03] =.\ction= Ship's condition is currently: Red Alert . [20:03] CIC> If Xanadu is recharging their emitters, perhaps if Alicia refrains from firing its beam we can find a method of draining them so that they are no longer effective. We could modify some wraiths or defiant destroyer escorts to give the reight emissions. [20:10] CIC> We may be able to modify the Wraiths energy projectors to either collect and nullify their bosun field, or alternatively drain their reactors so they can no longer produce the interference. [20:10] CIC> ::turns to Drexler:: Have them support the strike, if I have to order one, but ::indicates the mob on the far side of the system:: I'm hoping that isn't required. [20:11] CIC> ::light bulb goes off in his head:: Admiral, what if we had Blackrazor go in cloaked to scan the Xur ships in closer and see if we can get some better readings. If that doesn't work perhaps a stealth attack if required will confuse them. [20:12] CIC> Can Xanadu itself generate some sort of different energy field to cripple or divert the Xur ships? [20:12] E>Just doing a little ship designing while systems are green. [20:12] CIC> ::shrugs:: When it involves the Liberators, I may be scientific enough. [20:48] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:48] CIC> I don't see that we have much of a choice, unfortunately. [20:48] +taps+ I'm improving... that was just a little - unexpected. And could have been very dangerous. [20:48] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:49] CIC> ::looks to the admiral:: The Furious class ships are "experimental?" [20:49] M> ::mutters as she's put under:: Save her, Doctor.... please... save her... [20:49] TL>I'll make sure he doesn't do it again. He's just a toddler. [20:49] CIC> ::She nodded:: I stillw ant to see it done, but i'm not keen on the doing. [20:50] Amiru> E> +taps+ Flag, from Amiru. The parents are refusing to allow the child to be sedated. The child has been moved out of my location to the parents' quarters. [20:50] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:50] CIC> ::nods at Drexler:: I didn't realize they were ready. You added them to a group, I take it? [20:50] Amiru> E> +taps+ Please advise. [20:50] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:50] CIC> ::nods:: I hope they aren't too experimental... ::taps a button:: Central TF is underway. [20:50] CIC> ::glances at the General:: Nice to see Coro's crew still knows how to follow orders. [20:50] CIC> Did Tlaloco just disobey a direct order from Flag? [20:51] =.\ction= The ships in the center group that can cloak, including Blackrazor and her associated Banshee wings, decloak and move in for their strike. The two new Furious escorts join them. [20:51] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:51] E> Sorry sir; Repairs are done [20:51] E> Thank you ensign. [20:51] ::watching, carefully monitoring the movements:: [20:51] CIC> ::growls:: +taps+ Amiru, from Flag. Alert security if required. That child is disrupting ship operations in a method which could lead to the destruction of the ship and the loss of lives within the Task Force. It must be isolated. [20:51] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:51] <[L2SL_Somansky]> TB>Dex> One of the groups is moving in towards the Xur. [20:51] CIC> ::frowns:: Tlaloco? I should have known. [20:51] +taps+ I know, Olme. But if that happened at a slightly less opportune time, we could all be very dead right now. [20:51] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:51] Q> ::doesnt respond, still leaning on the wall, half bent over:: [20:51] ::hands poised, over her shoulder to Daren:: Just give the word sir.... [20:51] Amiru> *> ::exits engineering:: [20:52] Hold. [20:52] E> Welcome sir ::moves to resume his position at his consol:: [20:52] =.\ction= The two new ships fire the initial volley: bursts of yellow-white anti-proton fire. The other ships soon join in. [20:52] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:52] Amiru> *> +taps+ Acknowledged. [20:52] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:52] *>I understand the risk. I'm removing him to a holodeck. Under the circumstances, maybe I should get him on a shuttle. [20:52] ::keeps his head down, focusing an inordinate amount of attention on his console as he answers the flashing lights, keeping his mind occupied:: [20:52] CIC> ::smiles a bit:: The next generation... or the past generation, of weapons technology. [20:53] +taps+ Coronado's shuttles are needed by her right now. [20:53] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:53] =.\ction= The two new Furious escorts break off their attacks and sweep around as they hit the edge of the energy field. The other ships with more conventional armaments move in to finish the job. [20:53] =.\ction= Ship's condition is currently: Red Alert . [20:53] Canterbury, current status of the FM weaponry and defensive systems? Have they been drained at all due to this exapnding nullification field? [20:53] CIC> ::turns his attentions back to the display and the battle:: [20:53] CIC> ::nods agreeably:: Reverse engineering is a beautiful thing. [20:53] Amiru> ::requests location information for the father and moves toward that location:: [20:54] *>Well, I'll keep him under close rein and move him to a holodeck. [20:54] CIC> Mm. Isn't it though? [20:54] ::runs a level 4 diagnostic:: Checking the underlying systems. [20:54] +taps+ Olme... :sigh: Holodecks are shut down during a red alert status situation. You know that. [20:54] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:54] =.\ction= The energy field is soon clear of Xur fighters. The carriers, meanwhile, swing around, their defensive perimeter moving with them. Here they come. [20:54] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:55] Q>Sav, he doesn't sedate. His mind is still active during sedation. I can feel him. [20:55] Amiru> *> +taps+ Security, please find and hold secure Olme Tlalco and infant. [20:55] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:55] CIC> Looks like they didn't like that too much. Here they come. [20:55] We have movement of the Xur ships Captain. Been a long time since we had a chaotic war-episode. We were definitely due. [20:57] Anyone else? [20:57] Obviously, it's on next week so anyone who feels the need to kill things should be here. Particularly once those spheres start hitting the hull. ;) [20:58] Right. Nice work tonight, everyone! :) Hope you all enjoyed. [20:58] Captain, your crew, with my compliments.
