Here's the briefing: [19:06] =Sim Briefing!= Please type "ack" after you've read it... [19:06] Stardate 240401.12: "Renegotiator", Part 1, by Jester. [19:06] SUMMARY: Oh no, not again. [19:06] Coronado is currently some 100 light-years "northeast" of Reorsan space. We originally travelled here to investigate a S'pht claim that there is an active Pfhor stronghold in this area of space. However, in the process of investigating this possible stronghold, we've apparently become enmeshed in a time loop. [19:06] We began investigating a spatial anomaly near one of the Pfhor controlled systems that matches the energy signature of a similar anomaly in J043 -- that anomaly was also associated with a time loop. During the investigation, a small ship emerged from the anomaly. Acting on impulse, Captain Daren ordered Coronado to pursue the ship. [19:06] It and Coro travelled at slipstream to a system even further "northeast" where Coro was apparently mistaken for a ship loyal to "Thosis," whomever that is. This annoyed the pilot of the small ship sufficiently, though, that he apparently used the anomaly to loop himself and Coronado back to before Coro encountered the ship... [19:07] Briefing complete. [19:28] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:28] H> ::lightly tosses the PADD behind him and unzips the front of his uniform as he watches the two people remain frozen in space and time. Moments later, he sets the blouse of the uniform down on the nearest rock:: Computer... begin. [19:28] ::opens the tricorder from her case and scans Lauren:: [19:28] CIC> Coronado pursued it to a nearby system, inhabited...class eight technology warp age, I think, apparently at war. [19:28] CIC> ::turns back to the tank and spends a minute examining the ship, turning the holographic image this way and that:: [19:28] ::adjusts course and speed to keep Coronado clear of the distortion field, setting up a 'bumpercars' macro with the autopilot:: [19:29] <>> [19:29] ::turns to Brooks:: Did I hear that correctly? The field is larger than before? [19:29] E> Tlaloco we will be losing the false matter shielding so I want some back up plans [19:29] M> ::nods:: Slightly.. ::puts a hand over her mouth and sighs:: [19:29] CIC> ::straightens, crossing his arms:: The ship told us not to interfere with its business, this time. [19:29] E> +taps+ ACK bridge [19:29] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:29] CIC> It's derivative of reorsan metallurgy and propulsion engineering technology, and has a very sophisticated cloak, along with apparently a link to the same drivers that Xanadu and other Jjaro-related technology has [19:29] CIC> ::nods in Drexler's direction:: How do you know it's Reo-- ::stops and listens to Savant:: [19:29] ::nods at Tal:: Aye, ma'am, both the distortion and the field it is generating are larger than in the last loop. [19:29] E>I forgot to power up the secondary. That should have it. [19:29] M> ::cross-indexes, finds the drug in the database:: Just a few seconds more. [19:29] CIC> It initiated the local loop. [19:29] ::speaks for Brooks:: Yes, Commander. And that.. ::points to where she was huddling with the Doctor earlier:: ...are you alright to continue? [19:29] CIC> We were perceived as a threat, Coronado fled the ssytem, and upon returning to the distortion, the Reorsan ship reappeared and we were looped back to... five minutes ago. [19:30] E> ::looks at him funny "forgot?" [19:30] CIC> ::blinks:: It initiated the loop? [19:30] M> ::loands the hypospray and injects Lauren with the drug:: That'll do it. [19:30] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:30] M> what is it? [19:30] CIC> Savant reported it as a Reorsan-like ship. [19:30] CIC> Or was responsible for somehow, perhaps by relaying back to another center. But I'm fairly sure that it was done under the initiative of that ship. [19:30] E> ::doesn't say a thing and monitor the false matter systems...:: [19:30] E>Well, I, um- you know. Forgot to plug the thing in. [19:30] E> Plug what in? [19:30] M> It shouldn't matter. [19:31] ::slowly rises to her feet and makes her way around the back of the command deck:: Yes, sir. I am well enough for now. Though no telling what another temporal displacement of that nature could do to me. [19:31] H> ::ducks under a swift strike from the first, using the momentum from the movement to sweep the feet out from the second. Still moving from the sweep, he spins to his feet and plants a firm smash with his palm at the base of the first's jaw. He smiles as both remain down:: [19:31] E>The secondary monitoring system. [19:31] CIC> We encountered the local xanadian loop directly after their warning to stay out of their way. [19:31] M> It's herotriptamine, if you're still wondering. [19:31] ::nods at Tal:: Alright then. [19:31] M> ::looks at her:: Not really.... only that I worry bout how itll affect the baby [19:31] CIC> ::she contemplated aloud, as an aside:: Hmm. Xanadian. That seems like a good word to use for these effects. [19:31] CIC> ::frowns even more:: I see. [19:31] SB>::checks the time on the overhead clock, then looks back to Dillon:: Well, I'm going to get a shower and change of uniform before we get called back again. ::smiles:: I'll talk to you later Lieutenant. [19:31] CIC> ::nods, adding:: Staying out of the way of that system, sir. Perhaps we should assign a quarantine protocol. [19:31] E> Its smart circuitry rerouted, at a thirty percent efficiency loss. [19:31] E> Please try not to forget again thank you. [19:31] M> That has been taken into account. And don't underestimate a mother. [19:31] CIC> Far better than Xanadite... maybe. I'm not sure, that does have a certain flow to it. [19:31] I believe that it is linked to my hormonal imbalance from being pregnant. Dr. Kennedy should be able to treat any ill effects, as she has demonstrated so admirably thus far. [19:31] ::glances around the bridge for a moment, then looks back at his console and sends off a couple of messages:: [19:32] E>Good advice. [19:32] M> ::manages a smile:: I never said I did doctor [19:32] ::quietly gazes at the holotank, wondering just what that unidentified ship was doing in the area:: [19:32] M> ::smiles slightly, letting it go:: [19:32] E>I guess my mind was elsewhere. Sorry Farley. [19:32] CIC> ::glances from the Admiral, to Drexler, to Savant, then back at the holotank, starting to feel a little out of place again:: [19:32] M> What did I say wrong? ::frowns:: [19:32] ::glances at the screen:: We seem to have forgone pursuit of the unidentified ship this time around. ::turns to Daren with a raised eyebrow:: Heeding the speaker's warning, sir? [19:32] Let's get started on attempting to understand what just happened, and particularly...why the distortion fields reacted the way they did when the loop was intiated... [19:32] CIC> ::nods at Drexler, slowly:: That's probably for the best, I suppose... It's interesting that I don't remember any of this. [19:32] SB>::turns and starts to walk off, then turns around, still half back-peddling:: You'll still have to tell me how you got he one of these days. ::smiles then walks towards the TL:: [19:33] CIC> In any case, we've been asked to not interfere. It seems that Captain Daren is amenable to that suggestion as well... our last iteration didn't go as well. [19:33] E> If you mind coming to work with all your parts next time please. ::trys not to laugh while saying that:: [19:33] E> ::turn:: Sorry to interupt.. The false matter system are ... very very slowly comming back to normal... [19:33] CIC> Asked? By whom? [19:33] SB> ::nods:: Will do. [19:33] M> As you well know, no drug in the triptamine family crosses the placenta. [19:33] E> Maybe there's some parts I should leave behind. [19:33] E> Thank you Sky. +taps+ Ebgineering to bridge [19:33] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:33] M> Hmm? [19:33] CIC> ::she pointed at the unknown craft:: our Metareorsans out there. [19:33] H> ::ponders for a moment:: Computer, delete the second opponent and upgrade the first opponent to level ten. ::adds a moment later:: ...and change the environment to the Tibetan temple dojo. [19:33] M> Feel better? [19:33] CIC> ::watches the admiral at that, attempting to observe anything out of the ordinary:: [19:33] CIC> ::frowns, having mentioned this several minutes ago:: [19:33] M> I Know that .... ::sighs and looks down:: I...I uh better get back to work. [19:33] * Foxie (~humanfema@thevibrator.student.iastate.edu) has left #USS- Coronado [19:34] SB>::enters TL:: Quarterdeck [19:34] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:34] * Foxie|AFK (~humanfema@thevibrator.student.iastate.edu) has joined #USS-Coronado [19:34] M> Something's bothering you. [19:34] M> Do you want to talk about it? [19:34] E> Sometimes parts left behind is a good thing. [19:34] M> Im fine ma'am...really. ::fakes a smile and walks to pick up her tea again:: [19:34] Q::exits and walks into his quarters:: [19:34] ::nods at Tal:: For now, we stay out of that system. I see no harm in recording the data from the previous iteration into the main computer. ::looks to the Science station:: Lieutenant Brooks, how is your memory? [19:34] M> You're not fine. [19:34] ::just shakes his head and the lack of attention he gets in scientific matters lately and goes back to observing his men and the situation outside:: [19:35] ::frowns:: My memory, sir? [19:35] E>Just, I've never been through a pregnancy before. Not one where I was teh dad. [19:35] M> If you were fine, you wouldn't be dancing so hard to dodge the subject. [19:35] CIC> So let me see if I have this right: a ship emerged from the anomaly and headed to this uncharted system. We followed them, and somehow were mistaken as a threat. We retreated from the system, so did our mysterious ship, and it initiated another loop. [19:35] ::nods to Daren:: I suggest we try to model the potential effects of a time loop on the distortion field. Account for vessel composition, temporal field readings, space-time vector, and any variables that we ourselves might introduce. [19:35] M> I know you want to keep to yourself, but if my AMO has issues, I have issues. My department has issues. [19:35] E> Me neither but I think you'll get through it just fine. Remember were here for you when you need us. [19:35] CIC> After warning us not to "interfere" again? Have I got it all? [19:35] ::moves to the replicator and makes himself a cup of tea, then moves back to his console, sipping it slowly as he works away:: [19:35] CIC> That's correct, Tebrun. that's the basics. [19:35] CIC> ::nods slowly:: That's right. [19:35] H> Computer, begin. ::stares at the opponent as both bow and fall back into a fighting stance:: Computer, freeze program. Equip opponent with a bo staff. [19:35] M> ::sighs:: Are we ever going to get back? To earth I mean. ::frowns:: I never even got to go to my parents funeral [19:36] ::nods:: Of the system we tracked the vessel to previously...I remember at least two M class planets...a yellow star, I believe. [19:36] E>grins. Coming down here was the best move I ever made. [19:36] presence of subspace communications...et cetera. [19:36] E> I can say the same thing for us too. [19:36] Q>::takes a shower:: [19:36] M> I don't know. I made my home in so many places I tend to think of this ship as my home. [19:37] SB> ::wanders around the shuttle bay watching the work going on:: [19:37] M> ::frowns and sits down:: [19:37] CIC> ::drums his fingers on the holotank, making the image ripple:: Find out what Captain Daren would think of a LORASON scan of this system. [19:37] +taps+ Go ahead, Engineering. [19:37] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:37] Captain, we can use our long-range array to gather any readings on that system now that we know where it is. No need to rely on humanoid memory, sir. [19:37] CIC> ::arches an eyebrow:: [19:37] M> In any case, you're getting a lot longer to think about it. [19:37] E> +taps+ The fasle matter systems are coming back but very slowly. [19:37] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:37] H> ::watches as the weapon appears:: Resume program. ::stands almost motionless as the opponent circles him, twirling the staff with computer-driven perfect rhythm:: [19:37] Ahh, of course, sir. Hundreds of millions on the planets, two distinct species, and a subspace communications network. No subspace communication between the two planets, though... [19:37] ::drums his fingers silently on the console:: [19:38] +taps+ Slower than previously, Commander? [19:38] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:38] M> ::nods:: I know... and I think, some of this sickness was morning sickness [19:38] ::rubs his chin and sips again, then answers a couple of messages and smiles at one that comes through for him:: [19:38] ::monitors the bumpercar program, staying safely out of the distortion field:: [19:38] CIC> ::catches Ironside's look:: I'm operating with incomplete information here, General. Do you think our mysterious visitor would object to a sensor sweep? [19:38] CIC> He can hardly expect us to do nothing. [19:38] M> Probably. You are pregnant. [19:38] CIC> ::Savant stepped away for a moment, towards a replicator: She returned with a hot cup of peppermint tea and a chocolate biscotti, which she set wordlessly beside the Admiral, mentioning instead:: I'd like ot take a look at the system with a LORASON as well. There's an interesting arrangement of stellar dust which would point to a unique formation system. [19:38] ::points to his nose, looking at Brooks and winks:: [19:38] M> Which brings me to another point. [19:38] Err, Captain, last time the false matter systems came back almsot immedietly. [19:38] M> Have you been working any longer than eight hour shifts since we talked? [19:38] This is a new development then. [19:39] M> Um..... ::nods slowly:: [19:39] CIC> Admiral, the reason the future vessel initiated the time loop was because the civilization in the star system we pursued it to saw us as a secret weapon developed by some sort of rebellious group. They threatened to eradicate a colony if we did not return to the system. [19:39] CIC> ::glances down at the beverage and cookie, then gives Savant an amused look:: Stop spying on my quarters, Commander. [19:39] E> +taps+ Yes sir [19:39] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:39] M> Didn't we agree that you weren't going to do that? [19:39] Tactical, stand by to gather LORASON data on the distant system and assess their tactical capabilities. ::glances at Daren:: I'd like to try the same for local space as well, sir. [19:39] CIC> If they are able to monitor a LORASON sensor pulse...it may further aggravate their situation. [19:39] M> I seem to recall a shouting match in the lounge? [19:39] M> ::frowns:: Im sorry...I ....I just forgot [19:39] CIC> ::raises his own eyebrows, picking up the teacup and taking a sip without even realizing he's doing it until it's done:: I see... their technology was that advanced? [19:40] ::frowns:: LORASON is an active sensor system Commander...the pulse may be detected. And then we're back where we started. [19:40] CIC> ::she smirked:: I found that out from the previous iteration, Admiral. As did the General, I believe. [19:40] E> Should I attend to my departement or do I need to monitor the false matter system? [19:40] CIC> They had warp drive, and had at least some knowledge of subspace radio. [19:40] I'd say, sir, based on what we saw of their technology, that it is unlikely they'd be able to detect the pulse. [19:40] M> All right. Earlier today I installed a command lockout. None of your functions or subroutines will work except during your shift. That is, your one shift a day. [19:40] CIC> I don't think they'd notice a lorason pulse. Their cochrane field-generating equipment was rahter backwards, at best. [19:40] ::looks from Tal to the Captain and back to Tal:: [19:40] Captain - perhaps there's another option if you really need to get a better look at that system. [19:40] CIC> ::pauses:: They also had ansibles. [19:40] CIC> They were still using sublight missile weapon systems. [19:40] M> ::nods:: I ....I know. [19:41] H> ::takes the first blow on his right hip, and the rebound of the staff from the flesh allows his opponent to smack him hard across the left ear. The safety protocols do their best to reduce the damage to a simple stinging sensation as Canterbury topples sideways, rolling smoothly to his feet in what appeared to be a very uncontrolled fall:: [19:41] CIC> Perhaps we heed the warning to the letter. We do absolutely nothing and simply proceed with other things. [19:41] ::nods:: For this system, I agree. However, while the pulse might be detectable in the other system, they will not know its origin. I do not think that it will harm anything. [19:41] CIC> ::nods:: If they had subspace, they could detect a LORASON pulse. And ansible technology? ::frowns, turning back to the tank:: Interesting. [19:41] E>Alright. That ought to just about do it. [19:41] CIC> Ansibles? [19:41] If you have something, Lieutenant...I'm all ears. :::steps closer to the helm:: [19:41] M> You will not work more than eight hours a day. If you do, the computer will lock you out. If this doesn't do it, I'm recalibrating the force field generators. ::smiles slightly:: [19:41] E> Yes that's ok Sky [19:41] M> ::sighs:: You have my word... [19:41] CIC> Would you like me to try and get into their information network via the ansibles, Admiral? It's another option. [19:42] Well, down in the shuttlebay I've got a shuttlecraft that's out of service - engineering borrowed the engines after the HDS went down and, well, it's not fully back in yet... [19:42] M> ::smiles:: Thank you. [19:42] E> ::nods and leave the station toward his departement in main engineering..:: [19:42] We shelve the LORASON for the moment, Commander. [19:42] CIC> No, absolutely not, but thank you, Commander. We're going to have to come up with something else. [19:42] ::glances at his chrono and walks to the replicator again, drops his cup in and then carefully replicates a drink for everyone on the bridge, according to what he's learned are their preferences, and quietly makes his way, delievering them one by one:: [19:42] * LTSI_Brooks (~kari@132.170.34.140) Quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [19:42] An unpowered shuttle could probably be diguised as a rogue comet or meteor, especially since it has no engine. [19:42] M> ::sips her tea:: Good thing for other medical officers. [19:42] CIC> ::She nodded once, not entirely surprised:: [19:42] E> ::remembers a problem that needed fixing:: Tlaloco did you get that shuttle repaired yet? [19:42] CIC> I think a passive approach is going to be our best bet. See if you can detect subspace communications being emitted from the system. [19:42] M> I'm sorry? [19:42] ::grumbles something about having the best sensors in the fleet and not being able to use them:: [19:43] If it were given the right shove, at the right speed, it could pass through the system and be mostly ignored, so long as we don't get too close to be a threat. [19:43] CIC> No harm in listening in on what they're transmitting, if anything. [19:43] * Kari (~kari@132.170.34.140) has joined #uss-coronado [19:43] * CoroLCARS sets mode: +v Kari [19:43] M> Other doctors to cover the other shifts [19:43] * Kari is now known as LTSI_Brooks [19:43] CIC> ::Savant switched on the subspace transcievers, broadband, in an attempt to see what was out there:: [19:43] H> ::spins backwards, dodging a downward smash from the staff as he kicks the hologram's held end upward. True to form, the staff flies up and connects with the hologram's jaw. The hologram lands partially on its back, but rolls backward onto its feet as the staff clatters to the floor and Canterbury follows a half-step behind it:: [19:43] ::listens to D'rall, appearing contemplative:: [19:43] We can probably work with passive sensors - just drift through gathering as much information as possible without actually revealing ourselves. [19:43] Q>::gets of the shower and puts on a new uniform:: [19:43] M> We have a medical staff of thirty. I trust I have allocated them effectively. It's not yours to worry about, not when you're pregnant. [19:43] CIC> Mr. Drexler, make sure Captain Daren understands that his priority is the spatial distortion and the associated energy field. [19:44] M> ::chuckles:: [19:44] ::starting with Daren, and Tal, then moving on to the other stations in order, giving a smile to each crew member as he pauses beside them:: [19:44] CIC> Admiral, I recommend we proceed with our observation and investigation of the Pfhor situation and leave this incident in teh hands of those who wield the warning and the power to loop us at-will. [19:44] ::nods curtly to Prentiss and then realizes that it was Prentiss who must have cleaned up the mess:: [19:44] +taps+ Daren to Engineering, at the rate the affected systems are returning...when will they be back to full capacity? [19:44] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:44] CIC> This must be a gateway of some sort. [19:44] CIC> ::nods:: To an extent, I agree with you. Valkyrie can continue to monitor the Pfhor situation. We need some answers about that distortion. [19:45] CIC> Perhaps we ought to launch a probe into the center of it. [19:45] Q>::grabs the used flight suit and exits his quarters:: [19:45] CIC> ::nods at Savant:: [19:45] M> ::hands her a PADD:: I was working on that while you were gone... inventory [19:45] Q>::enters TL:: Shuttlebay [19:45] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:45] ::turns to the helm:: What we really need is data on this distortion. The distant system can be examined at a later time by a more competent first contact team than Coronado. [19:46] CIC> The unidentified ship travelled extremely close to it, correct? [19:46] M> ::nods and takes the padd:: Thank you. [19:46] ::nods back at Tal and heads over to Prescot, sets a drink down and heads to Brooks next:: [19:46] CIC> Quite. [19:46] M> ::nods:: Of course... [19:46] CIC> Extremely close, or did it emerge from the distortion itself? [19:46] E> ::works on the offensive system status..:: [19:46] CIC> I think it's reasonable to think a probe would survive a close look. [19:46] H> ::drives a balled fist into the hologram's lowest right rib, carrying with forward momentum to bring his knee up into the hologram's sternum. The holographic opponent lands with a dull thud on its back and skids backwards across the dojo, the computer giving its best simulation of gasping from the pain of a shattered rib:: [19:46] Any thoughts on how to do this, Lieutenant? Effects of entering the distortion for a closer look? [19:46] SB>::exits and throws his used flight suit in the 'used flight suit pile' and grabs a new one from his locker:: [19:47] <> [19:47] ::Savants' voice emerged as a chime beside Tal:: Good morning, Commander. Have you a probe to spare? We'd like to get a good look at the center of the anomaly. [19:47] CIC> That is, if the probe doesn't fall into the distortion and is transported to somewhere...::smirks:: or sometime, we cannot reach it. [19:47] Short of just plowing through? Not really I'm afraid. [19:47] ::nods at Prentiss:: [19:47] SB>::slips it on:: [19:47] CIC> ::sotto vocce:: Or if it doesn't start another loop. [19:47] E> +taps+ The systems are coming back to full as we speak sir. But it did take longer the previous time. [19:47] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:47] ::nods back at Prescot and then smiles at Brooks before moving on to Maiko:: [19:47] CIC> ::stops and looks at the admiral:: If so, maybe we should do nothing at all. [19:47] CIC> ::she grinned a bit:: These loops are terribly convenient, I must admit. [19:47] ::turns to Savant and cocks her head:: It was my understanding that the mapping of the anomaly was the assignment of this ship and her crew as handed down by the admiral. [19:48] H> ::watches as the hologram climbs to its feet, bows, and then turns away:: Computer, end program and exit. ::steps out the holodeck doors and logs off of the holodeck computer:: [19:48] It's a noble idea Lieutenant, but I'm afraid there are just too many risks for too little a possible reward. [19:48] I'm more worried about that other system. What's so important there we're supposed to stay away from? [19:48] CIC> Convenient? How so? [19:48] CIC> +taps+ Captain Daren, from Drexler. [19:48] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:48] We are working ont he problem, Savant. Have a little faith in us organics. ::smiles politely:: [19:48] SB>::looks around the locker room, then walks out to the main part of the bay, looking for his flight:: [19:48] CIC> Convenience or no, I don't believe the timeline is something we should be tampering with out of scientific curiosity... [19:48] ::moves back to the Science station, fielding the call enroute:: +taps+ Daren here... [19:48] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:48] ::shrugs at the Captain:: It was just an idea. ::wry grin:: [19:49] H> ::pauses and steps back into the holodeck to grab his uniform top and PADD, then ducks back out:: [19:49] CIC> To date, we don't appear to be the ones tampering? [19:49] ::Savant hadn't appeared beside Tal at all, but only her voice was there:: Yes, entirely. The flag offers as a suggestion to Coronado that she launch a probe to scan the center of the anomaly. Should Coronado deem it unsafe to do so, then she may choose not to at her discretion. [19:49] SB>::sees only Dex chatting with one of Alpha's support personnel:: [19:49] CIC> +taps+ The admiral wishes to convey to you that mission priority sits with the spatial distortion and the energy field. [19:49] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:49] ::sets the drink down on Maiko's console and smiles at her before moving back to his console:: [19:49] CIC> I'd rather have someone reset the timeline to a better place than have to live through some terrible mess-up. [19:49] ::gives Zach a questioning look:: [19:49] SB>::looks up at the clock and sees that the rest of his flight has about 10 more minutes:: [19:49] We are doing the best we can. Thank you, Savant. Suggested noted. [19:50] CIC> ::She smirked:: Commander Tal apparently is disinclined to lauch a probe, though i'm entirely unsure why [19:50] Now - ::turns to Daren:: - I do agree that a probe into the distortion would likely be beneficial. And you need not worry that we will stray onto some tangent, but that ship did appear to emerge from the distortion itself. Our investigation into the distortion may lead us back to the ship, as the two appear are linked by circumstance. [19:51] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:51] ::readies a probe in anticipation of an order to do so:: [19:51] CIC> I'm finding it exceedingly difficult to restrain the urge to launch a probe myself. [19:52] SB>::watches as the rest of his flight filters into the bay:: [19:52] ::nods at Tal:: [19:52] CIC> ::while listening in on the speakers:: I think you can restrain that urge, given a bit of willpower. [19:52] ::starts sorting files a gain, his hands moving easily over his console as if he's playing a fine instument:: [19:52] CIC> +taps+ Understood. As supplemental information, the system we visited is currently off-limits until the admiral clears it from quarantine. [19:52] ::looks up at Brooks:: Ready a class three probe, Science. Set it on a trajectory that will allow it to map the most spatial volume as quickly as possible. [19:52] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:52] E>::continues to monitor systems:: er,farley. The fact that I forgot to plug the thing in- Does that have to make it into any official reports? [19:53] CIC> ::orders a coffee and grabs the mug, walking back into the pit while taking a first sip:: [19:53] SB>::walks back into the locker room and to the replicator:: One MRE, any kind. [19:53] CIC> ::She grinned widely:: I'll cope. It looks like the Thosis are a political group that attempted a military coup.. i'm not sure on their level of success, but apparently it was far from compelte. [19:53] ::opens her mouth as if to say something, but closes it:: [19:53] Colonel Prescot, status of your Marine Pilots? [19:53] Aye, ma'am ::Deftly preps a probe on a side console, not really taking her attention of the main display:: [19:53] =Description= From what is being transmitted, apparently someone named "Thosis" attempted some sort of partially-succeeded revolution of some kind. The transmissions -- from the Sarisian planetary government -- are mostly of the sort trying to chide Thosian collaborators and pleading with colonies sympathetic to Thosis to return to the fold. [19:53] ::frowns slightly and deactivates the recently readied probe:: [19:54] ::looks back at the CAptain:: All in the nest as of now. I can have them ready to fly in a moments notice if need be. [19:54] SB>::out pops a ration bar and a carb drink:: [19:54] Ah. I was unaware that they had returned. ::nods:: [19:54] E> Oh you didn't want me to write that down and send it out? ::smiles:: [19:54] ::a moment later:: Probe ready to launch, commander. [19:54] CIC> Colonies? I wonder how large this civilization's influence is. How many systems, and where. [19:54] Fire the probe at your discretion, Lieutenant. [19:54] M> ::to Dyson:: Do you want to take the rest of your shift off? [19:55] CIC> They do have access to warp drive. [19:55] E> ::works on the false matter torpedos to get them back up 100%..:: [19:55] CIC> they may consider orbital colonies and other installations to be colonies, as well. [19:55] ::taps once, firing the probe into the distortion:: Probe away... [19:55] SB>::takes a seat at one of the tables and eats down the ration bar quickly:: [19:55] CIC> ::nods:: Which makes me wonder if they have encountered the nearby Pfhor, or why they have not ventured towards Reor. [19:55] ::monitors the probe from her board too, hoping to use some of its data to also provide a better map of local space:: [19:55] M> ::nods:: If you dont mind [19:56] ::watches the probe go out:: [19:56] CIC> ::nods to Savant:: I considered that ::gestures at Ironside:: but for they have FTL propulsion and could easily have extrasolar colonies. [19:56] M> ::nods, smiling:: Go ahead. I've got it under control. [19:56] ::moves slowly towards the science console, leaning over Brooks in what she hopes is an unintrusive manner:: [19:56] ::glances up and moves to gather the empty glasses and get them out of the way, moving so inconspicously you hardly notice he's there:: [19:56] Anything? [19:56] CIC> They may have. he pfhor may have owned this area sa a vassal state, and the now declined government were collaborating with the Pfhor. [19:56] E>::grins:: Well, no, not really. [19:56] SB> ::walks around observing the work, supervising where necessary:: [19:56] SB>::downs the drink too and heads back out to the main shuttlebay, minimally satisfied:: [19:56] =.\ction= The probe hits the event horizon of the distortion, which reacts badly. [19:56] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:56] CIC> ::continues watching the situation in the hovertank, occasionally glancing at the Admiral:: [19:56] Mmm? Ohh, the probe.. it'll be a few minutes before it reaches a point where it can pick up more than our own sensors, then a little while before it starts sendi-- erk. [19:57] CIC> ::Savnats attention is taken by the probe, as she had snuck a register aboard it:: [19:57] ::watches the main screen and the distortion's reaction:: What the hell? [19:57] =.\ction= A distortion wave of some sort hits Coronado a few seconds later, rocking the ship. [19:57] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:57] CIC> ::looks at the admiral:: While I don't really think interfering is a good idea, I wonder if it would be safe to send in a cloaked ship to the system. [19:57] ::walks silently to the bridge replicator:: Green Tea. [19:57] Q> ::glances for personal belongings to make sure no one else from his quarters is using the shared shower module, and, after ensuring so, steps into the shower module, disrobes, and washes off the sweat from the fight in the holodeck:: [19:57] SB>::rock off his feet:: [19:57] ::grips the console as the ship rocks:: [19:57] ::grabs at the Science console as the ship rocks:: Oof! [19:57] ::reaches for the mug as the wave hits, and misses it:: [19:57] CIC> ::holds onto the table as the ship shakes:: [19:57] E> ::get supprised by the ship rocking and also fall down... :: What the... [19:57] CIC> ::feels the ship sway beneath him:: [19:57] ::turns:: -the hell was that?! [19:57] Q> ::lands in a rather uncomfortable position:: [19:57] ::grabs a hold of her console, barely staying upright:: Okay, THAT was not a good idea. [19:57] M> ::glances around, gripping the biobed for support:: [19:57] ::steadies himself slightly, immediatly looking over the incomming sensor data:: [19:58] =.\ction= On the displays, the distortion and the energy field surrounding it both expand for a few seconds before contracting back to their original size. [19:58] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:58] M> ::smiles and walks out of sickbay:: +taps+ Lauren to Tlaloco...are you free for a little while? [19:58] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:58] CIC> ::Savant grabs the holotank to keep herself steady, the android doubling over in an automated fashion:: [19:58] E> ::holds on as the ship rocks:: [19:58] CIC> Have we lost telemetry? [19:58] M> What was that all about? [19:58] ::speaks up for the first time since the loop:: That obviously wasn't a good idea. [19:58] ::glances over at Brooks:: Let's not make it do that again. Agreed? [19:58] CIC> Probe status? [19:58] CIC> ::grabs the holographic table to steady himself:: [19:58] M> ::smiles:: I want to spend a few minutes wth my fiance doctor. ::walks out:: [19:58] E> Farley, Lauren wants to know if I'm free. What do I tell her? [19:58] What's the status of the probe? [19:58] ::dives for the mug and catches it, grinning slightly as he picks himself off the floor and dusts off his uniform:: [19:58] SB>::rights himself and runs over to Alpha flights spectres and checks them over:: [19:59] CIC> ::Savant sat up slowly, letting out a breath:: .. owch... [19:59] *> walks into a turbolift:: [19:59] CIC> There was evidence of subspace and ansible communications. Was there evidence of faster than light travel? [19:59] SB>::luckily all refueling was done:: [19:59] SB> ::grabs on to a nearby fighter for support and then starts checking to see if anyone needs help:: [19:59] Q> Dammit! ::pulls a now sore hand close as he looks around, wondering what happened, and -- after waiting a few seconds for a Red Alert -- steps back into the shower, rubbing his metacarpals with a skewed expression on his face:: [19:59] ::looks at the spilled tea, then back at the Science station and Commander Tal:: Nicely done. [20:00] CIC> ::takes another sip of his coffee, trying to find the probe on sensors:: [20:00] E> With the ship acting as it is I would say not right now. [20:00] ::nods at Daren:: You're the Captain, Captain. [20:00] CIC> ::Savant rubbed her temple and muttered:: I really have to stop putting registers on fragile little things like that. [20:00] Well, that's odd. We can enter the distortion field and not set off that kind of stuff, but a probe does? [20:00] ::sets the mug back and quickly cleans up the spilt tea:: [20:00] *> ::sighs and goes into 7th Heaven, sinking onto a chair:: [20:00] E>Just needed to tell her you said "no". Keeps me out of the doghouse. [20:00] ::winces slightly:: It might have been worth it... it looks like the energy signature is identical to the one in J043... [20:01] * McC|Lab (mcc@155.33.231.220) has left #uss-coronado [20:01] CIC> Don't bother, General. I registered a general structural failiure fault shortly before I lost contact. [20:01] SB>::climbs the ladder of his spectre and looks up to the control room with shrugged shoulders as if to ask "What was that about?":: [20:01] CIC> ::takes another sip of tea and gives Savant an amused look:: Losing a little piece of yourself? [20:01] CIC> ::glances at the Admiral again for a moment, then nods at Savant and straightens:: [20:01] CIC> Oh, right, the question about superlight craft. No, they don't have large enough cochrane field generators yet. [20:01] ::breathes softly:: J043... [20:01] CIC> ::She smirked and replied:: I'm falling to pieces. [20:02] CIC> ::smiles fondly, as if remembering:: They might not even realize that faster-than-light travel by sentients is possible. [20:02] SB>Control guy>+taps+ Control to Somansky, some sort of energy distortion from the field or something. That's all I've got sir. [20:02] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:02] E> Sure thing. ::smiles:: [20:02] Captain... [20:02] It's a Xanadu anomlay? ::leaves the Tea behind:: [20:02] M> ::looks around the sickbay, glancing at the nurses and others before returning to her office:: [20:02] E> Do we have a damage from that? [20:02] E>I'll monitor the shields. [20:02] CIC> No wonder the appearance of Coronado last iteration made them think that we were some sort of super-weapon. [20:02] SB>::nods, allowing his nerves to calm:: [20:02] CIC> What was it like, Tebrun? Before superlight technology. [20:02] E>+taps+ Lauren, that ogre of a boss of mine is forcing me against my will to stay and monitor the shields. [20:03] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:03] CIC> Tellarites, as I recall, had subspace communications three centuries before they had warp travel, and they had to be told warp travel was possible by humans. [20:03] If this is the same sort of anomaly as at J043, why is Xanadu not here trying to patch the rift? [20:03] E>::winks at Farley:: [20:03] ::collects the other cups and glasses around the bridge and cleans up any that spilled:: ((Have to make sure the bridge is mopped good tonight.)) [20:03] CIC> I can't even fathom it... well, i can't really fathom much at all without superlight computing, so I suppose it's only fair. [20:03] 7H> ::takes off her combadge without answering it, sighing:: [20:03] CIC> ::gives Savant a smirk:: A bit before my time, though I'll admit not by much. [20:03] <> [20:03] CIC> Ah, so sorry. You look a lot younger than you are, I guess. [20:03] ::opens her mouth as if to say something, but closes it, instead thinking:: [20:03] E> ::turn to farley for his duty report..:: Offensive system back to 100% Sir. ::smile:: [20:03] Q> ::shuts off the water and switches the shower over to the heat radiators to evaporate off the water, leaning against the opposite wall and allowing the heat to relax his muscles:: [20:04] E> Good thank you Sky [20:04] SB> ::helps the maintenance crews clean up some scattered equipment:: [20:04] ::frowns, running through the logs:: Interesting... it appears that the probe actually had to switch to subspace telemerty about 1/2 way through it's flight. [20:04] CIC> ::continues monitoring the Admiral with glances every once in a while as he looks over what the ship received of the probe's telemetry. [20:04] :: [20:04] E>You are great, Sky. [20:04] E> Did we get any damage reports? [20:04] SB>::takes a deep breath, then takes a seat within his spectre, slipping on his helmet and closing his eyes to nap:: [20:04] Because her ansible was disabled, Ms. Brooks? [20:04] E> :;nods..:: Cmdr? [20:04] CIC> If the military on this planet developed warp travel and tried to keep it from the civilian government for some reason... ::pauses, thinking it through:: [20:05] ::returns to his station and looks over the messages, noting there are quite a few wondering what's happening with the ship rocking:: [20:05] 7H> ::stares out of the windows:: [20:05] E> From around the ship. [20:05] That would appear to be the direct cause... I'm running through the telemitry it did use, see if it gives us anything. [20:05] CIC> Primitive warp drives leave very distinctive signatures in subspace that will last for days, if not weeks. We'd probably notice with scans. [20:05] Q> ::takes a deep breath and shuts off the radiators, then steps out and picks up a clean uniform he had left dangling on the rack earlier:: [20:05] ::nods and moves back a few steps:: [20:05] CIC> ::nods slowly:: Assuming we could risk a subspace- based scan. [20:05] E> ::was talking to Tlaloco in fact and not at the CEO.. but nods at his last..:: [20:06] E>Yes, Sky? [20:06] CIC> ::she nodded as well:: My kingdom for a non-invasive sensor suite. [20:06] ::rolls his shoulder, feeling slightly sore from his dive to the floor earlier:: [20:06] What if we orbit a probe at warp speeds right along the even horizon of this distortion field? [20:06] CIC> Admiral, as I was saying before the shockwave hit, perhaps we can send a cloaked ship in. [20:06] CIC> ::glances at Savant:: ...Vanguard could use her passive sensors while nested within subspace, were she here. [20:07] CIC> She's not entirely availiable. Maybe we should just try to ask the reorsan ship out there really, really nicely. [20:07] E> What did you mean by I'm great.. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary here ::smile:: I just did my job. [20:07] The warp fields should protect it from ill temporal effects, and by not entering the field itself, we could ensure that the probe is not actually destroyed. [20:07] CIC> ::looks from Drexler to Ironside and back to Drexler:: It's worth a shot. Send a message to Reor'sa, Commodore, and request Vanguard's assistance. [20:07] Q> ::pulls the uniform on and looks at himself in the full length mirror gracing the far wall of the shower module:: I was a fool to want to give this up. ::plucks his combadge off of his last uniform and affixes it to his chest, then scoops up the uniform and dumps it into his laundry bin:: [20:07] ::thinks:: Uh Captain? Aside from looping again what other harm would there be in us firing up the LORASON? At worst we loop but still get a breif look at what the pulse can show us. At best nothing happens and we get a full look at what the pulse can show us. [20:07] SB>::drifts off in his spectre:: [20:07] Q>::grins wildly:: there's a place for you in the new order, Sky. [20:07] ::works her console and calls up her notes on the staff meeting held to discuss their mission to this general area:: [20:08] E> Hears the conversation. If I may interupt? Sky take the compliment it was a good one. [20:08] CIC> Aye, sir, though Vanquish is still nearby and could give be in the system shortly under cloak. [20:08] ::shakes his head at Banks:: Forget that system exists. [20:08] ::points to the anomaly on the holotank:: [20:08] E> I'm not saying it ain't one, I'm just supprise at it. ::smile again and return to his console as he was just trying to understand..:: [20:08] SB> ::sits down to relax for a moment:: [20:08] CIC> ::nods:: Let's start with a purely passive sweep. We have no idea of their technology. [20:09] CIC> If they detected us as quickly as you say, they either have subspace- or ansible-based sensors. [20:09] CIC> ::She nodded and leaned back a little, exhaling and looking at the holotank:: [20:09] E>Sky, despite my preformance today, I am a veteran engineer. Seen 'em come, seen 'em go. [20:09] CIC> Both of which do not easily detect our cloaked ships, sir. [20:09] E> ::thinks he might have butted in at the wrong time:: [20:09] ::shrugs:: Well sir we've tried a probe and that didn't succeed so I really don't see what harm there would be in trying. If we loop we know not to try it again. But your the boss Sir. [20:09] Commander, you know, maybe one of the reasons Xanadu isn't here is because it can't operate in this area. Maybe something here mucks up some of its systems too. [20:09] CIC> ::begins readying a communique to Vanguard:: [20:09] ::bites her lip, thinking over Tal's idea:: I'm not really sure why...but I think that may be a bad idea. [20:09] E>I was a shipbikder after they threw me out of Starfleet the first time. [20:10] E> ::nods at Tlaloco:: [20:10] Yes, I am...and thank you for reminding me ::smiles thinkly:: [20:10] E>And your performance has always impressed me. [20:10] 7H> ::pulls a padd out of her hand and reads a book:: [20:10] ::tugs his uniform straight and glances around the bridge:: [20:10] ::shrugs:: I only punched the buttons I was told to punch when I sat behind that console. You're the trained science officer. [20:10] ::rolls his eyes when the Captain looks away:: [20:11] SB>Dex>::spies Somansky sleeping, sneaks over to their spectre and quietly climbs the ladder, with the rest of the flight watching in muffled excitement:: [20:11] E> Well thanks. I never though of it that way. [20:11] Xanadu herself is likely unable to travel within these distortion fields...who knows what she's got that the Watcher's have influenced. [20:11] ::looks to Tal and Brooks:: What's the next move? [20:12] ::frowns, thinking back:: Well that can't be good... [20:12] We could always enter the field ourselves and see what happens. Could be fun. [20:12] Q> ::steps out of the quarters:: +taps+ Canterbury to the CTO. [20:12] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:12] SB>Dex>::slams the side of Somansky's helmet and jumps off the ladder, sneaking under the Spectre:: [20:12] E> ::listens to the conversation:: [20:12] I really don't think that would be a good idea Commander. We're liable to suffer the same fate as the probe. [20:12] ::turns to Tal, then back to Daren, nodding, then shruging:: [20:12] CIC> ::She sat back in an entirely comfortable position, looking up at the screen as she went a little vacant; her attention was elsewhere and she hadn't bothered leaving any automated drivers in place:: [20:12] SB> ::smiles watching Dex:: [20:13] ::raises an eyebrow at Tal:: unusual for a mother to be potentially recklass with the lives of her childern [20:13] A larger and likely stronger distortion field than previously, and you want to go for a pleasure cruise? ::looks at Tal oddly:: [20:13] E> ::keep monitoring with one eyes and watching Tlaloco with the other:: [20:13] SB>::snaps awake and looks around half groggily then settles back in after a few seconds and falls back asleep:: [20:13] I just said that it was an idea. Not that it was a particularly good one. [20:13] E> ::to Farley:: What do you think, Farley? Sky as CEO on the Broken Lady? [20:13] 8> ::leans against the wall casually, waiting for a response from Banks:: [20:14] CIC> ::finishes his coffee and begins to head to the replicator to return it, but stops:: [20:14] E> I think he'd make an excellent choice. [20:14] That is true. You didn't say it was a good one and I agree with you Commander. [20:14] CIC> ::sets the mug on the railing of the CIC pit:: [20:14] +taps+ Banks here, What is it? [20:14] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:14] E>Of course, he'd have to answer to you as exec. [20:14] 8> +taps+ I have a whole lot of nothing to do right now, so I was thinking I would start my shift a couple hours early. That all right? [20:14] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:14] CIC> ::briefly focuses on the mug, attempting to move it to the replicator:: [20:15] E> Broken Lady?..::look a bit puzzle.. :: [20:15] SB>Dex>::sneaks back up the ladder and does it again, popping back under the spectre:: [20:15] E>Unless you'd like to be captain, and I'll be exec. [20:15] +taps+ Nope. Go take a two hour nap. Banks out. [20:15] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:15] ::over her shoulder:: As far as ideas go, I like my "playing a comet" idea over the "taking Coronado into the field" idea. Something on the probe made that field react, so what was it? [20:15] E> ::thinks and smiles:: Works for me! [20:15] E> No your ship you be captain. [20:15] SB> ::watches Dex and grins:: [20:15] ::shrugs and glances down at the science console:: We do need a better picture of the inside of that field. I still think that the LORASON's high-resolution sensors are a viable option. [20:15] E>Sky, we're going to be privateers! [20:15] CIC> ::finishes his tea:: Anything new from propoganda radio, Savant? [20:16] ::nods in agreement with Tal about LORASON:: As I said earlier Captain. Worst we reloop. [20:16] E> Kind of like... mousketeers? ::grin:: [20:16] ::taps at his console:: [20:16] E> We're going to start out with a core ship, and as we travel the universe, whoever we conquer, we incorporate their ship into our own! [20:16] That's a pretty bad worst...considering the anomaly and the distortion field grow larger seemingly with each loop. [20:16] CIC> ::frowns at the mug and scoops it up, physically taking it to the replicator and putting it in for recycling:: [20:16] ::begins to wonder where he got this bridge crew from:: [20:17] SB>::snaps his eyes open again this time in half disgust, activates the landing gear compression release, causing the spectre to jerk downwards sharply and spray out compression fluid:: [20:17] E> ::smiles at Sky's response:: [20:17] CIC> ::Savant didn't move from ehr somewhat lax position, nor did her eyed focused, but she did throw the audio feed through the right driver; the androids' mouth moved:: They've got some remarkably noisy taste in music. [20:17] Or we could just die and not reloop [20:17] Yes, Captain, but at best, we'd be able to track the internal composition of the anomaly and gain a better understanding. [20:17] 8> ::shifts his weight slightly as he shrugs and steps back into his quarters, plucks a hardcover copy of Macbeth out of his drawer unit, and climbs up onto his bunk:: [20:17] SB> ::chuckles and picks up a PADD to start reading:: [20:17] ::shrugs:: But it could give us a look at what we are dealing with and a why to close the distortion. What's that old saying... "No Pain no gain" I think it was. Sir. [20:17] SB>Dex>::runs out from under the Spectre:: OK! OK! Damn you! ::laughing:: [20:17] ::gives up with a shrug, apparently her ideas not up to anyone's par, and goes back to monitoring the helm, wondering what the field is reacting to:: [20:17] how so? [20:18] E>We'll be the scourge of the galaxy! [20:18] E> Conquer...::thinks...:: Well, I'm a engineers... I'll let you the conquering part ::smile:: [20:18] Besides, we only looped this last time when that ship returned and accused us of interfering, sir. I think it's worth the risk. [20:18] SB>::looks over to the rest of Alpha flight to see them laughing:: [20:18] CIC> ::returns to the CIC pit and the holotables:: [20:18] I concur with the XO sir. [20:18] Give me one concrete reason Commander, just one. You can't...know why?...because nothing in this damn place is concrete! [20:18] E> Sky will have the job of making all the parts fit! ::laughs:: [20:18] SB> ::tries not to laugh while reading the PADD:: [20:18] E>::laughs as well:: [20:18] SB>::can't help but chuckle and smile, closes his eyes and the canopy this time:: [20:18] There isn't anything concrete that says we'll reloop or the distortion will grow either sir. [20:18] E>We just need a good motto. [20:19] CIC> ::The android blinked lazily:: It seems like the Sarisian goverment certainly likes its' absolute power. Very dictatorial tone to their propaganda [20:19] CIC> This would be more comforting if I remembered any of it. ::stares at the holographic table like the memories might be stored there:: [20:19] If nothing is certain, sir, then what do we really have to point to that says it won't work? [20:19] CIC> I wonder why I don't remember any of this? [20:19] E>We'll also need a couple more officers. Especially security. [20:19] ::tap-tap-tappity-taps some more, working steadily along:: [20:19] 7H> ::stands up and walks into a turbolift:: [20:20] It's not gonna happen, find something better... ::looks to Tal, then Banks, then Brooks:: [20:20] CIC> ::looks at Tebrun:: I thought you had all the answers, sir. [20:20] CIC> ::Her head turned to look at the Admiral in concern:: I don't know.. other than a little bit of stress, your biology is normal. As far as I can see. [20:20] CIC> What were you doing when we contacted you, Admiral? [20:20] ::grunts:: DAmmit [20:20] More probes where that came from...just let's not have any more collisions. [20:20] E> Lots of security! [20:20] ::mutters something under her breath about opening up an airlock and throwing a chunk of duranium at it to see if it reacts to THAT:: [20:20] E>I'm working on some holo-simultions. We can start testing misisons in our down-time. [20:21] E>We need someone fierce. [20:21] Q> ::just about dozes off in the middle of the words "signifying nothing" as he blinks and sets the computer to alarm ten minutes before his shift starts:: [20:21] ::taps her fingers idly on her console, and shrugs:: We could always send in another probe. [20:21] I'll try sir but to be honest I don't think there is anything better. Anything other than a probe, which we know will fail, will signal someone out there. ::shrugs:: [20:21] CIC> ::shrugs and turns around:: Relaxing. Or trying to, at any rate. [20:21] ::glances at Maiko and smirks slightly:: [20:21] ::continues to stare coldly at Daren:: Prepare to orbit a probe, Lieutenant Brooks. Skirt the event horizon at warp factor two. Ms. D'Rall, stand by to back off. Mr. Banks, raise the shields. [20:22] CIC> I find it helps with the headaches. [20:22] E> Well... that sound interesting. ::give a other quick look at the system status... [20:22] CIC> Relaxing in what manner? [20:22] Aye Commander, ready on shields. [20:22] M> ::looks around, coming out of her office:: Have we everything under control? [20:22] E>We simply can't accept no for an answer, Sky! That still oesnt' explain it, though. [20:24] ::looks towards Banks, midly annoyed:: Standard compliment. We're down four since the last refit. Coronado. Identify yourself, please, and state your mission. Do you require assistance? [20:51] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:51] M> ::stares with a blank but uncomfortable expression as an orderly finally shows up and uses a dermal regenerator to patch up the tiny rupture of the skin inside his nose:: [20:51] ::nods at D'rall:: Give me a short warp burst to get us out of this distortion... [20:51] E> ::start sending repair team to do most repair about the secondary hull..:: [20:51] +taps+ ::sighs:: I'm afraid that might not be an option. D'rall out. [20:51] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:51] CIC> ::smirks slightly, wondering if the ship is in any position to provide assistance:: [20:52] =.\ction= The slipstream conduit whips by Coronado's position, and then into the energy field surrounding the distortion before two ships emerge. One is clearly showing as the silver-blue packet, somewhat damaged. [20:52] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:52] +taps+ Engineering, are we clear to go to warp? [20:52] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:52] SB>::climbs back into his spectre and takes a seat, resting his back:: [20:52] ::looks back at his console and notices a light flashing, taps the button and reads, then sends it to the Captain's console so he can answer it:: [20:52] Aye sir... ::sets up a warp burst, going for a five-second run before auto-cutoff:: I'd suggest everyone hold on. This could be... rough. [20:52] Look like our little "friend" has upset the natives... [20:52] CIC> There they are. Should we interfere? [20:52] =.\ction= The other is much more heavily built, bigger, much more primitive, and is firing antimatter missiles at the smaller craft. Its design is unfamiliar. The two ships head for the anomaly. [20:52] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:53] CIC> Ah, it looks like the natives are restless. [20:53] E> +Taps+ ACk bridge [20:53] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:53] ::engages warp engines on a pre-set burst:: [20:53] =.\ction= Coronado's enginges engage, and the frigate flashes to warp! [20:53] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:53] =.\ction= The silver-blue packet dives into the anomaly and vanishes. [20:53] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:53] The second vessel is using antimatter missiles Captain if you can believe that. [20:53] =.\ction= There is a brief flash of deja vu. A moment later, Lieutenant Brooks announces that the distortion is expanding slightly. [20:53] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:53] CIC> Around 100 - odd lifesigns aboard her. Definately one of the patrol craft from our system-of-the-week. [20:54] CIC> ::frowns, immediately glancing at the chrono:: [20:54] CIC> ::watches the chase:: [20:54] =.\ction= A ship emerges. Sensors only have it in range for a few seconds. The thing is drastically -- almost ridiculously -- swept winged, with two enormous engines behind what looks like a crew cabin up front. [20:54] ::frowns at the proximity of the vessels from the quaratined system:: [20:54] CIC> Well.. that's just downright cruel of that reorsan packet. That ship is going to take forever to get home with the systems it's got. [20:54] ::shakes his head:: Not again.... Damn. [20:54] ((oops)) [20:54] =.\ction= stream.wav It flashes into slipstream and is gone, headed "northeast." The entire encouter takes -- tops -- 15 or 20 seconds. [20:54] CIC> ::Savant blinks:: Well.. ::rolls her shoulder:: that's better. [20:54] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:54] ::frowns, trying to recall everything should could about the larger ship:: [20:54] E>Not again! [20:54] This year is NOT getting off to a good start...
