[19:23] Stardate 240405.17: "This Day, This Place", Part 1, by Jester. [19:23] SUMMARY: Questions of allegiance. [19:23] Coro has entered an unnamed nebula about 80 LY "northwest" of Reor'sa. Calculations have pinpointed the nebula as the site of another of the space/time anomalies: the "tears" that appear in M64. Tears have been coming more and more often, and we believe that they will soon reach a point of no return. [19:23] In the meantime, Coronado has been recalled to Reor'sa under VERY unusual circumstances. Nine of the civilian government leaders in M64 have banded together to form a defensive and trade alliance. These leaders have called upon the Starfleet personnel and ships to return to Reor'sa. [19:23] Ships that follow this directive will be turned over to the newly-forming Alliance government, which apparently plans to place them in the charge of a new, combined Alliance military under civilian control. Starfleet ships that refuse the directive have been ordered out of "Alliance" space... [19:23] Briefing complete. [19:23] <> [19:23] ::nods, looking thoughtful:: Actually the more I think on it the more it probably shouldn't surprise me. I often wonder if we're getting to old to be doing his. If he isn't talked down though I'd imagine he'll try to return to the Milky Way. If so, it'll give all Starfleet officers who want to return a ship to return in. Getting home though will be another matter, unless they ask the advocate about her offer. [19:42] Reor`sa> +com+ I need to arrange public transport to the Penthia Shipyards. I'm told that this new Alliance is going to honor all debts. I assume that means three years back pay, at the very least, so I assume I have the funds. [19:42] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:42] Reor'sa>::takes a drink of his water while a group of marines take up seat near him striking up conversation:: [19:43] WR> ::looks at those in the room:: I know many people onboard have families and loved ones in the Milky Way. And those people I wish luck. But any of you here who have no reason to return to the Milky Way other than to follow orders... then Starfleet has become an organization totally different than from the one I grew up hearing about. [19:43] WR> The way that the civillian government handled this situation reviles me to the core. They're actions could very well doom all that we have fought for [19:43] ::nods:: I don't imagine his will be the only ship to return, given the opportunity, which will further deplete the Reorsan resources for combating the Xur and dealing with the Xanadu issue. [19:43] Reor`sa> +com+ Can you make the arrangements to have the requisite funds transferred into some kind of account that I can access? [19:43] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:43] SB> ::walks into the shuttlebay and looks around:: [19:43] Reor'sa> +taps+ Well, if you hear of anything, let me know. I'm going to go... do something, I guess. ::glances around in vain:: [19:43] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:44] Reor`sa> ::she grinned widely:: +taps+ That's easy enough to arrange. I may no longer be subfleet logistics, but I still have some strings to pull. I'll have the accunt made and a flight scheduled... can I ask why you're going there? [19:44] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:44] WR> +taps+ Daren to helm, set course for Reor'sa and engage at slipstream at your earliest convenience. [19:44] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:44] WR> ::nods as Prescot speaks:: Yeah. I'm worried that the Xur will take advantage of this situation. It's not like they're going to stand by... and, call me crazy, but I'm not about to trust the popular assembly with our defence. [19:44] ::takesa drink and sighs:: I can only hope the Alliance won't try something so stupid as to commandeer those vessels. Even I would have a problem with that despite wanting to remain here rather then to return to the Milky Way. [19:44] Reor'sa> +taps+ Strangely enough... I don't remember it being like this. [19:44] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:45] Reor`sa> +taps+ ::to Drexler:: Don't remember it being like what, Sienve? [19:45] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:45] WR> You have a choice. The role of the Defenders is not ending... it is merely... changing. And I hope you won't feel pressured to turn your backs on the people of M64. ::takes off her pips:: [19:45] ((Sieven)) [19:45] Reor`sa> +com+ I need... I need to have a long talk with Kishrak, a talk that should be held in person. ::sighs:: Listen, Savant, the information is probably going to hit my medical records here on planet any minute now, so there's no sense keeping this from you. But I'm swearing you to secrecy. As a friend, if not an officer. [19:45] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:45] ::shakes his head:: They risk alienating those officers who have already resigned if they do. They must accept that those who choose to leave must leave. [19:45] Reor'sa>::they begin to talk about home, about they're experiences here in M64, old instructors at the academy:: [19:45] WR> ::tosses the pips on the table, then turns and quietly but quickly leaves the room:: [19:45] WR> ::looks to D'rall:: I'm going to have to ask you to return to your quarters now. That is, unless you feel like doing the reverse: resigning your Reorsan Commission and joining this Starfleet. ::grins:: I didn't think so. [19:46] YEs but [19:46] Reor`sa> ::her mood got serious, and her hologram reflected the fact:: What's wrong, Tebrun? [19:46] Reor`sa> +com+ I'm dying, Savant. Terminal Jau Maret Syndrome. My symbiont-host connection will be cut sometime soon, probably in the next few weeks. [19:46] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:46] WR> ::thinks so hard me mummbles something:: [19:46] E> ::flits around engineering attempting to get the ship ready for the days ahead:: [19:46] *> ::heads towards the nearest turbolift, her mood a strange jumbling of fear, excitement, and sorrow:: [19:46] WR> A lot of my decisions will be dealt with on who becomes the our superiors if we were to join with this "Defenders." I have seen too many men get killed because of beaucrats and their decision making, if they insist on having some of their men staying onboard to make sure that we do things in the best interest of Reor`sa. I might as well Join the Romulans and deal with their Political Officers [19:46] ::nods:: I agree but with the actions already taken, I wouldn't put it past them to try but as you say hopfully they'll be smart about it. In the mean time I'm waiting to see if they'll at least ask me to join the Alliance fleet. What ever they end up calling it. I'd imagine they have glut of command capable officers at the moment. [19:46] =.\ction= Coronado turns in the nebula and generates a slipstrem conduit to Reorsa. It's escort vessels follow closely along. [19:46] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:47] Reor`sa> +com+ The symbiont will live, of course, but I... but Tebrun... Tebrun needs to get his affairs in order. [19:47] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:47] SB> ::wanders around the shuttlebay checking in on the aircraft:: [19:47] Reor'sa> +taps+ Being like this. The formation of the Alliance. I was there, once. [19:47] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:47] Reor`sa> ::Savants' hologram stood dumbly for a moment as she struggled to formulate a proper responce to what he had said:: [19:47] Not a great deal with the ability to coordinate at a fleet level, however. ::finishes his bottle and places it on the deck beside him:: [19:47] ::stares down at his console for a long time, trying to decide between his loyalty for his Captain, and the new loyalty recently formed of a much more personal nature:: [19:48] TL> ::steps onboard:: Deck 4. [19:48] WR> ::looks around, then to Prescot:: The Camelynians have stood with the Reorsans. Those Camelynians in M64 that is. But you are a Starfleet Officer, Colonel...and I'm asking for your continued allegience. [19:49] Reor`sa> ::After a moment, the emotional strain registered on her face and she let out a slow breath before replying:: Tebrun. . . I've already had to deal with you almost dying once before... [19:49] WR> ::looks around:: DOes anyone else have anything they would like to say? [19:49] WR> ::raises:: [19:49] WR> Commander Farley? [19:49] WR> Indeed. ::folds his arms across his chest:: I need time to think of it. [19:49] WR> What do you need from engineering sir? [19:50] ::nods and finishes his beer as well:: That's what I fear the most. I do have that experience now but I'd rather command a single vessel rather than a fleet. But at this point who nows if I'll even be offered a job. ::pauses:: Then there is the mystery behind my death and resurection. Somehow I feel it's tied to the 4th Chamber but I haven't been able to connect those dots yet. [19:50] WR> ::looks to Prescot:: As a friend and colleague, I will give you what the Reorsan President did not give us: time to think. [19:50] Reor'sa> +taps+ ::doesn't hear Savant respond immediately, so continues:: I just wish I could remember why it was different in the other timeline. [19:50] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:50] Reor`sa> ::leans against the terminal:: +com+ I'm not sure what to tell you, Cap-- Savant. Unlike you, I am mortal. And the damage done by the Watchers to my symbiotic link is permanent and accelerating. I need to get to Kishrak. Can you help me? [19:50] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:51] Then perhaps you may wish to inquire as to a posting on the team investigating Xanadu and the 4th Chamber? That would give you the opportunity to both work towards saving the universe and discovering the truth about yourself. ::smirks:: [19:51] WR> ::grins at Farley:: AH, that's a Starfleet man! Soon we'll be out of the nebula ad back to normal space...please make sure the slipstream midifications can be undone so that they don't cause a problem once we leave here. [19:51] WR> You got it. [19:51] Reor`sa> ::She gave him one emotional look before smoothing over it:: Of course, Tebrun... I've got the account almost set up right now. [19:52] WR> ::takes the notes:: [19:52] Reor`sa> ::She replied to Tebrun after a good long pause:: It's a different timeline, Sieven. Of course it won't be the same. [19:53] ::returns the smirk:: Possibly. Perhaps I can get command of the defense force there. I had a science team look at the device the old Professor developed before he vanished when we were still in the Milky Way and as far as they can tell it should not have worked. The fact that a braid activated it and it worked and then that braid vanished... Too many coinsedences. [19:53] Reor`sa> +com+ Thank you, Savant.
