[21:34] * Parts: Brad (garstini@ip68-3-126-250.ph.ph.cox.net) [21:34] ::having overheard as she arrives:: Yup, lots of them photons. Can someone grab this cake before it falls off my arm? [21:34] ::glances at Maiko:: Oh, sorry, didn't see you there. ::stands and offers a hand for the cake:: [21:34] ::She smirks at Gibson over her shoulder and replies tangentially:: I've always liked these singularities. Can't quite place why. [21:35] ::hands off the double-chocolate black forest cake to Gibson:: From Zach, who apologizes for not being able to make it. [21:36] ::takes the cake and holds onto it, hoping Maiko will spread the blanket quickly so he can sit down again:: [21:36] ::she smiles lightly:: He's nothing but work, that boy. [21:37] I'm standin' right here! [21:37] ::quickly unfurls the blanket on the ground:: [21:37] ::Shrugs:: He likes what he does, and it keeps him challenged. Much the same for you or Clarence I would assume. [21:38] ::she grinned at Clarence's outcry and remains sitting on the ground beside the blanket, only her head and shoulders above the tall grasses:: Oh, I don't know. Clarence and I still manage to spend a lot of time together. Not enough, but a good amount... I admit I haven't been there as much as I should over the past few weeks. [21:39] ::sets the cake on the blanket:: It's all right. We enjoy that time we spend together. Plus this means we don't get the chance to argue about things. [21:39] ::chuckles knowingly:: [21:39] ::she smiled:: Am I too argumentative? [21:40] I'm not sure we've been in an argument. [21:40] I can't recall one yet. [21:40] Get married, then you'll have plenty. ::grin:: [21:41] Oh, I've thought about it [21:41] It is very strange, is it not, the perception of marriage? I swear it's five hundred years old. Get married, stop getting along. It doesn't make sense." [21:41] You've thought about it? [21:42] About getting married? Well, yes, I have. ::She grinned a bit:: I don't think it'd stop the way that we get along, really. [21:43] Well, good. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. [21:44] ::watches on in amusement:: [21:44] ::Smirks:: Thinks that we'd still get along, or thinks about getting married? [21:44] We'll say both. [21:45] ::sits a little closer, half on the blanket, her legs trailing out into the grass:: Really? Do tell me more, my dear.... [21:45] we've had this conversation. we've had it a few times. [21:45] ::She grins:: I guess I just like hearing it. [21:46] ::quietly goes about cutting up the cake and doling out slices on plates:: [21:46] Well, in that case... [21:48] I think about our getting married, I do very much. I think it would be an interesting and absolutely beneficial union for the both of us. [21:48] You've said so yourself on so many occasions, I keep you grounded. That would serve to do the same, if not more. [21:49] ::chuckle:: It'd certainly make for an interesting set of wedding vows. "Until death or defragmentation do we part." [21:49] ::She smirks a little bit at the quip, but replies honestly:: But, Clarence, what about *you*? [21:49] ::stops himself just short of returning something to Maiko just then; he returns his gaze to Savant:: [21:50] You and oxygen are the things that I need. That's all. [21:51] ::opens her mouth to remind him of the need for food and water, but closes it and lets them have their moment:: [21:51] ::She leans forward and kisses his cheek, murmuring quietly,:: Don't want you going without, sweetheart [21:53] ::amused, but happy for the two, digs into her slice of the cake:: [21:56] ::returns the kiss, demurely, aware of the presence before them both:: [21:58] I think I'll give you two some privacy. ::smiles and takes another slice of cake with her, heading up to the top of the hill that looks out over Alexandria:: [21:58] ::She exhales buit shrugs and picks up her own plate:: [21:59] ::hesitates before glancing back at the parting Maiko; his lips return to her skin, this time her neck as she starts on the cake:: [22:02] ::she chuckles lightly and tilts her head to one side,:: Doesn't take much to get you started, doe sit? [22:03] With you? Not much at all. ::stops, looking at the cake:: What is it, anyway? [22:05] ::She exhales and looks up at the two singularities again:: I guess that I feel a little guilty.. Maiko brings us this cake, and then leaves. I used to get along with her so well. [22:06] ::sitting at the top of the hill not too far away from them, but still close enough that if someone shouts she can hear it:: [22:08] I tried to talk about this stuff with her a little while ago. [22:08] Idunno, it's probably me kissing on you that made her uncomfortable [22:09] ::finishes up her slice of cake... over her shoulder:: You two finished with the sheet dance down there so I can get another slice of cake? ::Grin:: [22:09] ::closes his eyes and leans his forehead against her shoulder:: Sometimes she makes it so difficult. [22:10] ::turns around and seeing nothing untoward happening, heads back down the hill and plops back down on the blanket:: [22:10] ::she ehxales and drapes an arm around Clarence, hugging him tight briefly before calling out to Maiko:: We aren't *that* bad fror it, Maiko. [22:11] ::chuckle:: No, I just know Clarence, and when he gets in the mood... ::blushes slightly:: I'm sure you know. ::grin:: [22:11] ::she rolls her eyes and replies animatedly:: Oh, I know all right. [22:12] ::catches Savant's animatronic sarcasm and restrains himself from smiling:: [22:13] ::Maiko grin:: [22:15] Note he doesn't try to defend himself. [22:15] ::Her sarcasm melts:: Ah, but that's why I love him. One reason of many at least. ::She picked up her cake and rested it in her lap, curling up so that she was mostly on the blanket and seated demurely:: [22:15] Psh. Two women talking about his voracious sexual appetites? I hardly think he'd try to stop us. [22:16] Hmm, good point. ::pretends to be deep in thought:: Well then, shouldn't he really be bragging? [22:17] I am absolutely not that kind of person. [22:18] ::grins:: I know Clarence, I'm just teasing. [22:19] ::she gave Clarence a deadpan sort of a look that seemed serious on the surface, but she used it enough that anyone who knew here understood that she used it only when she was joking:: You're so much that person that you can barely keep your hands off of me, and you know it, sweetheart. [22:19] Actually I meant I wasn't the bragging sort. The other thing, definitely. [22:20] ::she grinned broadly:: Ah, my mistake. ::She changed the subject smoothly:: This is really good cake. I hope that he didn't work too hard on it. [22:21] What is it? I mean, what kind of cake? I know it's cake. [22:21] ::finally feeling like her old self around the two:: Didn't have much of a chance. I'm surprised at how quickly he can get such good food like this together using some of the archaic equipment he has. [22:22] And this would be what he calls "Double Chocolate Black Forest" [22:23] Probably has enough calories that I'll be jogging for a week to keep it off my body. ::Grin:: [22:23] Oh, dear. I shall have to try this. [22:23] ::deadpan again:: Oh my. I'll put on ever so much weight if I eat this. [22:23] Interesting. Savant and I were having a conversation about keeping fit earlier. ::suddenly remembers the conclusion they had drawn:: Just, it's, uh, interesting how these things seem to come together [22:24] ::smirks:: [22:24] Be wary, Savant, you know how the biologics get about these things. [22:25] I'm actually not too worried. I've done more than enough jogging lately to make up for it... [22:25] ::She flaps a hand back and forth:: I just feel sorry for you, having to worry about all those fleshy watery bits all the time. You must get awfully seasick at times with all the sloshing. [22:26] You are a very cruel woman. I hope you know that. [22:26] ::she beamed broadly:: I blame society. [22:26] ::mock wince:: Indeed. I still get "Thank you" cards from some of the men from the barracks that were there that day. [22:27] ::to Savant:: Zach, by the way, thinks that prank was hilarious. ::grin:: [22:28] ::she smirks:: I didn't come up with it. Was from academy records. [22:29] ::allows himself a single sharp exhaling, one note of a chuckle:: [22:30] ::chuckle:: [22:31] ::She rolled her shoulders and set the plate down, looking up into the sky and the twin ribbons of the singularity, pensive again:: [22:33] Penny for your thoughts. [22:34] ::Maiko grin:: I'd hold out for a better offer. [22:34] Thank you. [22:34] ::she smirked:: They aren't worth that much. I'm just being moody again. figured you'd be used to it by now. [22:36] Oh, now, be ye not so furtive. [22:37] Yeah, pill it. You've got something on your mind I think [22:37] <> [22:37] I'm just sort of worried about what happens when they sunder the connection between Xanadu and the Fourth Chamber. It's not long now. [22:39] I haven't a clue. I've never had a mind for theoretical physics. I'm more on-the-ground. Suppose it helps with Logistical issues. [22:40] I'm sure they wouldn't be doing this if there were any chance that this would... harm you in any way. [22:40] ::that line captures his entire interest, now coherent as a laser beam:: What? [22:40] ::She glances over at Maiko:: I'm not so sure.. the majority of my processing threads operate in there. [22:42] I hadn't thought about that. [22:42] ::shrugs and taps the outer casing of the spinal implant:: The majority of my nerves ran through my spine at one point. I'm doing just fine now. Hope for the best. [22:44] Besides, if we don't fend off the Xur... maybe it'd be best to not be alive for the results... ::shudder:: [22:44] ::She nods:: Very true. I'm hoping for the best. But your damage was in motor neurons. I don't ahve any of those. Most of my personality is in there. [22:45] ::feels something deep within him start to quiver with ice-cold dread:: Couldn't you load yourself back to the computer cores? [22:46] ::she got something of a pained look on her face:: If I could *find* those threads, I'd redirect them. But there's something about the Fourth Chamber and the Way that makes it impossible for me to track them. It's the reason why I can taste this cake.. but it's a dreadful nuisance. [22:48] ::does what she can to put on a cheerful face:: You'll be fine Savant. I know you will. [22:49] Without them you don't feel ... touch? [22:50] ::she gave him a helpless smile:: It's different. Since those threads aren't visible on my register network, they act a lot like an unconscious mind does. They give me instant and unbidden information returns. ::Gently:: Do you get what I mean? [22:54] ::nods:: [22:54] I was very familiar with your original command and sensory construction. I just ... I don't know, I haven't been thinking about it. [22:54] ::she nods as well:: But again, I don't know. The Way is everywhere, so it may be that nothing at all happens to me. I don't pretend to understand it. [22:55] ::shrugs:: Welcome to the world of the fleshies. I certainly don't know how my thoughts are created in my head. [22:56] she's been in our world for a while now [22:57] Getting a welcome just when you're about to be kicked out, ... [22:58] ::shrugs:: Life's all about that kind of thing. [22:58] I'm not as worried about that. I just hope that I'm still relatively functional at the end of it all. [22:59] ::looks into Savant's starburst eyes, knowing that no matter how deep he hides the dread he still feels, she knows it's there:: [23:00] ::she smiles back at him and places her hand on top of his, then looks down after a moment. She tried to salvage the situation:: I've lost registers before and recovered. [23:06] ::nods, trying a calm look:: [23:10] ((End on that ominous note?)) [23:10] (If you're all done, wecan) [23:10] ((Nah, I'm just done for the night, didn't know if you guys were too)) [23:11] <> [23:11] ((G'night - feel free to keep Maiko around and chatty if ya want)) [23:11] (Night Dennis ^_^)) [23:12] * Maiko is now known as Farrell [23:12] * Quits: Farrell (CptFarrell@69-163-34-222.lndnnh.adelphia.net) (Quit: "Journalist: A person with nothing on his mind and the power to express it." - Russell Baker) [23:14] ::She squeezed his hand lightly, her roughshod-holographic skin making him feel tingly and slightly numb:: Don't worry sweetheart. I'll be okay. [23:14] I hope so. You know I wouldn't know what to do with myself. [23:16] ::she kissed his cheek again:: We're gonna be just fine. Don't think about it. [23:19] ::chuckles at that:: I'm not sure that's possible, babe. [23:20] Oh, I know, but... you know what I mean. [23:21] Yeah. I'll try. [23:24] ::she exhaled and looked back up at the singularities again... commenting after a long quiet moment:: Sometimes I can imagine myself looking donw on myself up there. [23:25] ::lay down on the blanket, looking up at the singularities:: Is it imagination, or some kind of tertiary register? [23:26] ::she lays down as well, resting her head on his stomach:: I don't know. Usually I think I'm imagining it... but once in awhile It's so clear that it's almost creepy. [23:29] I'm tempted to test you. You know, "how many fingers am I holding up." It seems odd to have playful thoughts just now. [23:29] ::she grinned:: I can still see you from Alexandria, dear. [23:30] ::runs his hands through her digital hair, feeling the tingling as he runs his thumb along her scalp:: Well, see, good thing I didn't try. I knew you'd cheat somehow. ::smiles:: [23:31] ((I gots to get going.. shall we call it?)) [23:32] <> [23:32] *sim end* [23:32] * CoroLCARS changes topic to '=/\= U.S.S.
