[19:09] Stardate 240309.29: "Cold and Distant Stars", Part 2, by Jester. [19:09] SUMMARY: Headache. [19:09] Coronado and the other Defender ships have escaped the time loops instigated by the supposed Jjaro artifact in the L036/L037 binary system. We now have very good reason to think that despite its convincing facade, the defense tower and the information in it are an enormous trap. [19:09] We have no real way of knowing if we have the memories of all of the iterations, or even how many iterations there were. Everyone remembers at least four, but the phenomenon wasn't local and was quite possibly an effect that extended throughout the known universe for all we know. [19:09] Without communications outside the immediate area of Defender space, we have no way to determine how widespread the effect was... or, if it was a loop, how long we were trapped in it. We don't even have a firm idea what it all meant. As a result, M64 is still ringing with the news... [19:09] Briefing complete. [20:25] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:25] MB> ::checks one of the chrono's in the barracks and grunts, deciding now would be a good enough time for lunch and makes his way out:: [20:26] TL> I trust Sickbay has been alerted already...I'm on my way to the bridge right now... [20:26] <[CRS3_Savant]> M> ::Savant wastes no time in beaming Reed over to Kor... along with a good portion of protable medical equipment:: [20:26] X2> ::closes his eyes:: Don't... seem... ::hits his combadge:: +taps+ Don't seem... to... have much choice. [20:26] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:26] A> ::growls:: It damn well better not! ::holds out his hand for the phaser:: Hand me the phaser -- handle first, dammit -- and I'll try my best not to file a report about this. [20:26] <[CRS1_Drexler|4]> ::stops suddenly, once again tripping and nearly falling--this time, the probability cluster (a round emptiness in the "ground") has somehow come in his path. Reeling, he glances over at the truck, which is still in the same place it was before. Sieven had somehow veered in this direction.:: [20:26] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> Tebrun, just hold still. Help is on the way. [20:26] HD> ::shakes head:: The more the merrier as the saying goes. Besides, I can't imagine this hike would go any worse than the last one I participated in on the holodeck. ::wry grin:: Just try to keep up. ::re-settles the pack on her shoulders:: [20:27] X2> ::remats near Lora Kor and promptly begins scanning him with his tricorder:: [20:27] HD> I'll do my best. [20:27] <[CRS3_Savant]> X3> The Admiral's in a bit of trouble. I'll be right back. [20:27] ::steps out onto the bridge:: Alright Teg, what's the Admirals current location? Use him commbadge to do pinpoint coordinates for me... [20:27] TL> Deck seven! [20:27] =.\ction= Reed rematerializes on one of the faux asphalt roads that Xanadu is filled with, this one cutting through a forest on a rise outside Alexandria. Coro is visible in the distance, a few kilometers off. [20:27] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:27] <[CRS3_Savant]> X3> ::The hologram disappeared, reappearing not far from Reed or the Admiral:: [20:27] 7H> ::walks over to the bar and looks it over, then picks up a rag and starts wiping it down as if he was born to do so:: [20:28] mctc_Ericsson> A> ::looks a little crestfallen as he hands him the weapon:: I'm sorry, sir. I-- [20:28] X3> ::looks at Ironside:: She do that much? [20:28] X2> ::immediately administers both an analgesic to Lora Kor and a neurotransmitter booster to realign his chemical balance:: I knew it! I knew I saw this before. [20:28] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::approaching:: Tebrun. . . you really have to stop doing this, you're going to give me an ulcer. [20:28] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> ::looks up, notes Savant is gone, then looks over at Brooks:: Hrm? Oh, yes. [20:28] X2> ::slumps in his chair, obviously trying to answer and failing:: [20:28] HD> ::grins, waiting for Farley to take a pack and stick before starting up the trail at a normal walking pace (For now....):: [20:28] Approxamately 3 kilometers away [20:29] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::Savant held the Admiral up, keeping him from falling out of the chair:: [20:29] A> ::hushes him sharply:: Just shut up, Crewman. ::tucks the phaser into his belt, his forehead and cheeks slightly tinged with red, and nearly growls the whole time on his way out of the Armoury:: [20:29] HD> ::grabs a pack and walking stick the right hight:: Alright I'm ready. [20:29] X3> Imagine it'd give you a complex after a while... ::turns back to her tricorder:: [20:29] 5> ::walks down the corridor, fuming, and enters TL:: Deck 9. [20:29] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:29] <[CRS1_Drexler|4]> ::He stared... no breath, no pulse. Just an empty stare into the empty hole for what may have been seconds... or aeons, he couldn't tell. Examining all of the possibilities, he very reluctantly began to back away from the cluster and it pained him as the distance slowly increased between them.:: [20:30] ::notices the location hilighted on the holotank:: Alright, I see them...is that Doctor Reed there? [20:30] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> Kor? [20:30] HD> ::sets a normal walking speed to pace herself, not quite wishing to test the limits of her 'repair':: So how are repairs going? [20:30] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> You tend to get used to it after a while. ::staring out the windows, a thought striking him:: Lieutenant....is the view through these windows realtime? [20:30] 7H> ::finishes wiping the bar and turns to look over the inventory available, making notes on his PADD of what needs to be ordered to make a few special drinks:: [20:30] X2> Savant, look at this. ::displays the tricorder to Savant:: Telepathic interference between the host and symbiont. Just like I thought! [20:30] 7> ::exits out of the turbo lift and begins to walk towards the bar nearby:: [20:31] Yes, sir. [20:31] ENtc_Sanchez> M> ::groans as he walks in, looking around Sickbay:: [20:31] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::She didn't turn her eyes to Reed, instead helping Tebrun like down as comfortable as she could manage him to lay in the cab of the truck:: Intereference? Can we get some sort of an aide for him, maybe? a medium? [20:31] X3> Why, I have no idea, just a second. ::tables her current work on the tricorder, and turns it to scan the area just on the other side of the 'window':: [20:31] <[CRS1_Drexler|4]> ::at what he deemed to be a safe distance, he spun around and crawled back to the truck on all fours, wearing holes into his pants at the knees:: [20:31] HD> ::walks beside her keeping pace:: Very good. Were ahead of schedule so far. I was lucky in getting 2 parts ships here so fast, and even luckier that one of them had an extra reapir crew on board that wanted to help out. [20:31] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> +taps+ General Ironside to Coronado, open channel please. [20:31] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:32] 7H> ::hums to himself as he starts to shift the bottles around, arranging them the way he likes them:: [20:32] * Peter (peter@66.42.7.181) has left #uss-coronado [20:32] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> ::stares down at Coronado on a field just 'below' the window's point of view:: [20:32] General Ironside for you sir. [20:32] 7H> ::enters into the bar and moves over to the replciator:: [20:32] <[CRS1_Drexler|4]> ::climbing into the truck, he quickly came around, leaving streaks in the thin gravel that revealed the nothing lying below it:: [20:32] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> At least your french is still quite good, Tebrun. I don't think I've ever heard you speak it before. [20:33] X2> ::immediately goes about configuring a hypospray with aneuraninine and injects it into Lora Kor:: That should dampen his reception of telepathic signals. [20:33] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:33] Patch him through....::puts a foot on the seat of the Command Chair:: +taps+ Captain Daren here, General... [20:33] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:33] HD> ::nods:: Lucky indeed. Then again, sometimes it seems we're always having to repair something. Now it's just you in charge of the repairs instead of Commander Oswald ::glances at him:: How's the new rank feel anyhow? [20:33] X2> ::eyes open and almost seem to focus on Savant for a moment, before closing again:: [20:33] X2> I can't pinpoint the source of the interference, though, damnit! [20:33] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> +taps+ Captain, I need you to flash your running lights for me - brightly. Please inform me at the moment you begin. ::continues watching Coronado's form:: [20:33] 7H> ::hears the doors open and turns to see Prescot enter and nods at him, giving him a welcoming smile:: Hello there! [20:33] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:34] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::she placed a hand on the Admiral's shoulder and sighed:: Don't worry, Tebrun. Vous etiez bien. [20:34] HD> ::smiles:: It's still very new, exciting, and sadding all at the same time. [20:34] ::makes a bit of an odd face, but understands:: +taps+ Understood General ::turns to Teg:: Standby... [20:34] S> ::walks into the security office and smiles at the Chief who hadn't moved from her spot since he left. He peers around the office for a few moments before sitting down at the desk and bringing up Armoury Control Chief Ericsson's bio:: [20:34] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:34] ::taps in a few commands:: Standing by.. [20:34] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> I think that the secrets Xanadu holds have a lot to do with Tebruns' condition. [20:34] 7H> ::nods at the Petty officer and smiles at her:: Good day ma`am ::turns to the replicator and orders some fresh baked rolls and a small steak:: [20:35] ::hovers finger over the flashing 'activate' button:: [20:35] <> [20:35] Teg, get on that...go with a 4 second flash interval...full brightness... [20:35] X2> He should begin feeling better in a few moments. His neurotransmitters are rebalancing and his receptivity to telepathic signals is low enough that I doubt an enraged Betazoid mother-in-law would get through. [20:35] <> [20:35] Go! [20:35] ::pushes it:: [20:35] +taps+ We have your lights, General... [20:35] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:35] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> . . . had bad experiences with relatives, Doctor? [20:35] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> ::watches Coronado:: [20:36] S> ::makes two notes in the file -- Inappropriate Fraternisation with Another Crew Member; and Negligence of Proper Safety Procedures -- then leans back in his seat, still a little angry:: [20:36] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::she watched the Admiral carefully for signs of wakefullness, speaking with him. It was good to speak with someone unconscious and in shock:: Tebrun? Apparently you're going to be coming around right away now. . . [20:36] HD> ::steps over a small tree trunk fallen across the path:: Yeah, I miss Oswald as well to some extent. She was good at what she did, but I can't blame her for leaving. Sometimes I wonder if this ship is cursed. ::wry grimmace:: [20:36] ::turns to Teg, noting the silence over the comm:: [20:36] ::shrugs:: [20:37] X2> ::continues scanning Lora Kor diligently:: [20:37] X2> ::opens his eyes, slowly, then groans, then says softly:: Mother of all headaches... what did you give me, Doctor? [20:37] 7H> ::turns back to arranging bottles and then starts on the glasses, his hands moving swiftly as if he's done this for years:: [20:37] <[CRS1_Drexler|4]> ::the view back towards Xanadu was even more disconcerting, really: a thin green cylinder, edge-on, suspended over nothing, and this narrow gravel path extending out from it many kilometers:: [20:37] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::Savant sat back a little, to give the Admiral some breathing room:: [20:37] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> +taps+ Thank you captain. ::notes the running lights flashing as indicated:: [20:37] S> ::opens up Crewman Murimasa's file as well, and begins entering an Inappropriate Fraternisation note, but pauses halfway through and deletes it:: [20:37] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:38] HD> ::steps over the same trunk:: I miss her too, see was a great boss and teacher. ::looks at her:: Cursed, what do you mean? [20:38] 7H> ::takes his plate and moves off to a table and sits down, eating his food slowly as he looks out at the unusual scenery of the Second Chamber [20:38] X2> A fun little cocktail, Admiral. [20:38] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> A telepathic inhibitor. I don't think you should mix cocktails with these sorts of drugs, to be honest. [20:38] X2> ...and this is the hangover, is it? Thanks, but I'll stick to Guinness. [20:38] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> Well that answers that question. [20:38] ::raises an eyebrow:: +taps+ Anytime General, would you like the lights to continue? [20:38] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:39] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::she grinned:: You really have to stop doing this Tebrun. It's becoming a little worrisome. [20:39] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> +taps+ Negative, Captain. Discontinue at your leisure. [20:39] X3> ::shrugs, looking up:: Looks like a holographic matrix, like none I've ever seen before, though. Solid beyond it, though comparing coro's sensors to the image, it appears to be a perfect view of the area, to within a few microseconds. [20:39] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:39] ::makes the 'cut' signal to Teg:: [20:39] 7H> ::steps back and looks things over and then nods, satisfied:: ((Looks good to me.)) [20:39] HD> ::shrugs, the pack shifting as she does so:: Well, I grew up on the "boldly exploring the final frontier" stories of my people's past. The concept of a lone starship pushing back at the uncharted territories, meeting new people, expanding the Federation through peace, diplomacy, and sharing... [20:40] ::pushes in a few more commands and cuts the running light intensity dwn to 1/3 and the frequency down to 10 hertz:: [20:40] X2> ::pushes himself into a sitting position:: Telepathic inhibitor? Am I being attacked? [20:40] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> ::nods and contemplates the control console:: The limitation imposed on us by this 'central nexus' is beginning to become tiresome. [20:40] HD> It seems all we do end up careening from one strange disaster to another, in between finding new life that just don't quite measure up to the old stories. [20:40] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> We don't know, Tebrun. It may not be intentional, but it's certainly invasive. [20:40] S> +taps+ Canterbury to Commander Teg. [20:40] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:40] M> Possibly. Whatever the signal is, it's jamming communications between the host and the symbiont, hence the headaches and degredation in neurotransmitters. [20:40] HD> ::rounds a bend in the path, its steepness becoming more evident:: [20:40] X2> ::closes his eyes and nods, clearly in quite a lot of pain:: [20:40] 7H> ::moves out from behind the bar and starts moving around the lounge, shifting a few tables here and there to make it more to his liking:: [20:41] HD> I think we will find it out there, we just can't give up on it. [20:41] X3> It's just a computer system, right? You all don't have the personel in this galaxy to get around it? [20:41] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> Move over a bit, Tebrun, and I'll drive you back to Coronado. [20:41] 7H> ::exhales as he goes over the past few weeks in his mind, shaking his head for a moment before going back to his food:: [20:41] X2> ::looks at Savant, then looks at the control stick:: I didn't realize that you were right-handed. [20:41] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> A computer system yes - one overwatched by a sentient AI far beyond our own capabilities to disable or circumvent - or so has proven to be. [20:41] +taps+ Teg. Shoot. [20:42] X2> ::tries to smile at his own joke, the smile coming out looking rather ghastly:: [20:42] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> ::smirks slightly:: The last time I put a query regarding the Central Nexus into the Great Library's computer, my terminal immediately crashed. [20:42] S> +taps+ Is there anything that needs to be done? I'm finding myself out of pointful things to do down here in the security office. [20:42] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:42] HD> ::shrugs:: I'm sure that's what the people who lost their lives years ago would have said. Somehow I doubt they planned on dying that close to home. [20:42] 7H> ::glances over at Prescot and then walks over to him:: You look like a man with troubles on his mind if you don't mind me saying so. [20:42] +taps+ Unless you want to do a full manual torpedo survey, not really. [20:42] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::she grinned weakly, still quite worried about him but humouring him, glad to see him trying to return to normal:: It's a pre-set. ::She took the controls with her left hand and drove with those, flipping the pre-set over to her left hand to drive:: [20:43] HD> True, but here we are further and wiser I hope. [20:43] 7H> ::smirks slightly and drinks a bit of his water:: You are correct. [20:43] X3> I had a roommate at SFSA, best slicers I've ever seen, and she always used to say there was never a computer system built that a smart person couldn't find a way around. [20:43] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::Savant shifted the vehicle into park for the moment, as Tebrun had left it in neutral for his abrupt stop:: [20:43] ::motions to a chair:: Mind if I join you? I have good ears for listening. ::smiles:: [20:44] S> ::ponders for a second about the proposed job, then quickly shakes it out mind:: +taps+ All right, I'll think of something, then. [20:44] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:44] HD> Sure, we all are. But sometimes I worry it won't be enough. [20:44] 7H> ::looks at Prentiss:: Thank you but no. My problems are my own to work out [20:44] HD> ::still keeping pace:: Be enough? [20:44] X2> ::frowns:: This isn't going to work as a long-term solution. [20:44] X2> We need to find out where these signals are coming from and soon. [20:44] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> Indeed. ::looks around the control room interior:: Though I do not fancy myself a dullard, Lieutenant, my intelligence unfortunately lies more in the realm of command, strategy, and warfare rather than in circumventing the rules of a computer system. [20:45] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> No, it won't. It'll do for now, though. [20:45] X2> ::contents himself with just keeping his eyes closed and keeping his seat:: [20:45] <[CRS3_Savant]> X3> Her voice returned to the control chamber, though the hologram did not:: Did someone call? [20:45] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> Do you want me to beam you back right now, Doctor, or would you prefer the long route? [20:46] 7H> ::nods:: Just a friendly offer. Enjoy your meal. ::turns and starts walking around again, stepping up to the small raised platform that holds a grand piano and running his hands over it lovingly:: (m) What a beauty... [20:46] X3> Still, there's got to be plenty of good computer techs in this galaxy. [20:46] S> ::returns to his display, opens up a file he had been working on, and begins to experiment with the spherical computer model displayed on screen:: [20:46] HD> ::pauses at one of the scenic views:: There's a lot of stuff I don't understand about M64, and it's my home. Part of that I imagine is because I never attended the academy. Another part because I wasn't there or was busy dealing with some other problem. [20:46] 7H> ::nods at Prentiss but doesnt say anything else as he continues to eat his meal and look out at the view of Alexandria:: [20:47] X2> ::nods:: Beam me back. I need to talk to the Captain. [20:47] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> ::glances at Savant:: Though I don't doubt it, if there is a way of circumventing the lockout of the Central Nexus, I fear it will be through a logical procession rather than through forced entry. [20:47] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::Savant nodded, and beamed Reed bakc along with his equipment, then began the slow drive back to Coronado:: [20:47] M> ::remats:: [20:47] M> +taps+ Reed to Daren. [20:47] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:47] +taps+ Daren here, what's your status Doctor? [20:47] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:47] <[CRS3_Savant]> X3> To be perfectly honest, I don't want to break into the Central Nexus. Alicia would be very upset if we broke the rules. [20:48] ::stares at the teams location flashing on the Holotank:: [20:48] M> +taps+ My status is fine. The Admiral's is another matter. Please come to sickbay. [20:48] S> ::thinks aloud:: Hmm... mag-lev interferes with the sensors, whereas anti-grav interferes with the control centres and gives no collision avoidance... ::becomes silent and continues to work:: [20:48] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:48] X3> ::shakes her head:: I don't know much about computer infiltration myself, but logic is an AI forte, better to attack in an area slanted in your favour. [20:48] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::Cheerily, though she spoke with a softer tone that was easy on the ears:: shall we? ::she started the truck forward:: [20:48] 7H> ::opens the cover and looks inside before carefully closing it again:: ((Have to make sure it's in tune sometime. Fine piano. Probably plays like a dream.)) [20:48] +taps+ On my way...Teg, once again...::disappears into the turbolift:: [20:48] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:48] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> It would help to know if there were a way into the computer system using a method that does not break the rules... [20:48] X2> ::with his eyes still closed:: By all means, Commander. [20:49] TL> Deck 6! [20:49] HD> I can understand that. ::stops with her:: But there a few ways of looking at it. One way is the short way, meaning someone could see that they might not have change things much so what's the point. Another way of looking at it is that one person starts something and it's built on by other people in the long run. [20:49] <[CRS3_Savant]> X3> I'll have Alicia send you an annotized list of rules. [20:50] 6>::steps into the corridor toward Sickbay:: [20:50] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::she smiled and let out a breath, still worried but happy that the Admiral wasn't in worse condition. She kept quiet to respect the pain in his head, as much as she would have rather talked:: [20:50] <[CRS1_Drexler|4]> ::stops the truck a few kilometers from the outpost, looking back:: [20:50] 7H> ::glances around the lounge again, sees a table out of place and strides over to fix it:: [20:50] HD> ::looks at him, nodding:: On that point, yes, we've achieved something here. If it weren't for the survivors of the Churchill, life would probably be very different for everyone in M64. [20:50] M> ::enters Sickbay, looking around concerned, this being his second visit to the Medical facility in one afternoon:: [20:50] =.\ction= Without a point of reference to go by, Drexler discovers something interesting: objects in the Fourth Chamber are much closer than they appear. [20:51] HD> But there's still too much we don't know that could hurt us. Take the spheres. I'm only just beginning to scratch the surface of their maneuverability. What's their motive? How do they accomplish what they do? [20:51] M> ::finds Reed:: Doctor Reed...report... [20:51] M> ::walks over to Daren:: Captain, we have a problem. Are you aware of the Admiral's persistent medical difficulties lately? [20:52] 7H> ::moves behind the bar again, picks up his PADD and checks it over carefully, adding a few things to the list of requisitions before pressing send:: [20:52] 7H> ::finishes off his meal and chugs the last of his water, setting the tray in the replicator on his way out:: [20:52] M> ::nods:: The headaches I believe we've spoke on this subject before, but...I take it you found something disturbingly new. [20:52] 7H> ::nods to Prescot:: Have a good evening sir! [20:53] HD> I understand your fear, I and I would guess most of us have the same fear. But we need to use that fear to help us get through the unknown, so that it becomes known. [20:53] 7H> ::nods to Prentiss:: you too ::exits out of the bar and moves off towards the nearby turbolift again:: [20:53] M> Verified suspicions, actually. Telepathic jamming from an unknown external source that's causing perpetual interference between host and symbiont. [20:53] <[CRS1_Drexler|4]> ::wipes his eyes a bit on his sleeve, his expression still very even, but something was now obviously bothering him:: [20:53] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> Tebrun. . . how long do you suppose we're going to be doing this? [20:54] X2> I don't know, Commander. How many klomoeters is Coronado away. [20:54] 7H> ::turns back to the bottles, sets his PADD down on the counter and then picks up 3 bottles and starts juggling them, just to make sure he hasn't lost his touch:: [20:54] TL> Bridge.. [20:54] M> ::frowns:: Has anything like that ever been encountered before? [20:55] HD> ::sigh:: Fear is one thing. Facing death over it is another. ::resumes walking:: How many lives justify the discovery and understanding of the unknown? One? Two? An entire crew of a starship? [20:55] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::She smirked:: Far enough for me to squeeze an answer out of you. I mean . . . how long do you suppose this is going to take, until things are normal again? [20:55] HD> Look at it this way, without certain inventions of previsly unknown things then we would be this far along today. [20:55] HD> We lost good people on the RS Dauntless because of something unknown. How many more? [20:56] M> It sounds like a new phenomenon to the Trill species bond...but I'm no Doctor... [20:56] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> ::to Brooks:: Do you feel that there is any information remaining here that we might make use of, Lieutenant? ::looking around:: [20:56] X2> Tell... ::swallows:: tell me what normal is and maybe I'd have an... answer for you, Commander. [20:56] HD> ::starts back walking with her:: Yes, very true, but the crews of those starships understand what might be asked of them before they board one. [20:56] M> ::shakes head:: I've never seen anything like this before, nor is it in the medical records. [20:56] <[CRS3_Savant]> X3> From what I can tell, the rules set up by the Jjaro are very restrictive. They didn't plan on anyone re-entering Alexandria, and have secured it agianst access by pretty much everyone. The door is locked and the keyhole is on the other side. [20:57] HD> Yeah, I agree with that. Inventions are one thing. I'm not about ready to say that all of this ::gestures broadly at the holodeck in general:: is a bad invention. Some knowledge is good. [20:57] M> This...is something entirely new. And I don't know where it's coming from...or how to stop it. [20:57] X3> I can finish everything up on the Coronado. [20:57] <[CRS3_Savant]> X2> ::She grimaced a bit at the pain he was very obviously in:: Sorry, I should be letting you rest. [20:57] <[BGDC_Ironside]> X3> ::smirks at Savant:: If they did not plan on anyone re-entering Alexandria, then how did they pre-record a message for us for when we arrived in this control chamber, Savant? [20:57] X2> ::looks over at Savant, pained:: Sorry, Commander. Headache. Never... never been this bad. [20:58] HD> If someone had told me four years ago that I'd be hiking on Earth - or a simulation of it - and that one of my friends would include a computer program capable of manifesting a physical presence on the ship... I'd probably have said that person was nuts. ::Maiko grin:: [20:58] =.\= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= SIM PAUSE =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =.\= [20:58] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [20:58] M> ::nods:: Alright, this is indeed troubling. Let's see if we can find some kind of pattern at work and use that to possibly determine a source [20:58] HD> But you can't just have the good knowledge and throw out hte bad knowledge because most of the time both are needed to make it through the unknown [20:58] <[BGDC_Ironside]> ::Attn:: [20:58] ::attn:: [20:58] ::attn:: [20:58] <[CRS1_Drexler|4]> ::attn:: [20:58] ::attn:: [20:58] ::attn:: [20:58] <[CRS3_Savant]> X3> Don't look at me - oh, wait, you cna't. Well, don't ask me, General. I'm just relaying my findings. [20:58] ::attn:: [20:58] <[CRS3_Savant]> ::attn:: [20:58] ::attn:: [20:58] ::attn:: [20:58] ::attn:: [20:58] OK, I think we'll break there. Nice work, everyone! :) Almost everybody participated in one thing or another, which I was very pleased to see. :) [20:59] Before we call it quits for this week, I have one other housekeeping chore that I'd like to get taken care of. [20:59] Lieutenant D'rall, step forward! [20:59] ::nervously steps forward:: I swear, I didn't MEAN to get caught up in that sphere attack.... [20:59] I already offered to help replace the helm console... [21:00] Hush, Lieutenant. ;) As those of you who have been aboard Coronado for a while know, in December 2001, as a recognition strictly for Coronado simmers, I established the Order of the Defenders of Coronado. [21:00] ::nods:: [21:00] The Defenders medal is only given to those Coronado simmers who sim with us for more than a year, accumulating at least 100 points in that time period, while maintaining the highest standards in attenance, participation, and contributions to the sim. There have been only 26 inductees, many of them honorary members who have not been present to collect this recognition. [21:01] However, today, I am pleased to report that Lieutenant Maiko D'rall becomes the 27th inductee into the Order of the Defenders of Coronado. [21:01] Congratulations, Lieutenant! :) [21:01] Nice job! [21:01] ::applauds:: Go Belle! [21:01] ::applauds:: [21:01] <[CRS3_Savant]> ::clap clap!:: [21:01] ::claps politely:: [21:01] <[CRS1_Drexler|4]> ::claps:: [21:01] ::blushes fiercely:: Thank you sir! ::draws into the old Starfleet salute from the Churchill's era:: [21:01] ::claps:: Bout time you got on that list! =) [21:01] ::applauds:: [21:01] <[BGDC_Ironside]> ::claps:: [21:02] ::applauds loudly:: [21:02] ::isn't sure what to do, so he simply smiles politely:: [21:02] And even 27th isn't accurate. He's actually 16th, ahead of such personalities as RJ, Nephy, Santiago, and ::coughs:: Marcy. Nice work, Farrell! :) [21:03] <[CRS3_Savant]> well done ^_^ [21:03] Indeed. :) With that said, any final questions before we break? [21:03] ::raise:: [21:03] ::raises:: [21:03] Lieutenant Brooks? [21:03] Does coldanddistantstars translate into "nothing flippen' happened" in some old, made up language? [21:03] ::snickers:: Sometimes, the names of the episodes are a little poetic, but I believe if you search for meaning, you'll find it. ;) [21:04] Sort of a haiku sim title. ;) [21:04] Lieutenant D'rall? [21:04] ::whispers:: Besides, the episode ain't over yet. ;) [21:04] ::nods:: I was waitin' for something to happen too. I had to resort to catching armoury officers making out, ferchrissakes! =P [21:04] How much time IC until next sim? [21:05] That's a good question. I didn't see anything that absolutely requires we pick up on the same day. [21:05] Anyone have any objections to a week or so going by? [21:05] no [21:05] <[CRS3_Savant]> not I [21:05] Nope [21:05] ::shakes head:: [21:05] negatory [21:05] So we just catch up to real-life time then. [21:06] Right, then. Call it a week at least. And honestly, I expected there'd be a bit more philosophy to this ep. Most of y'all did live a part of your life over and over again a few times, and not a few of you died. ;) [21:06] Next time we have a time loop, I'll make sure I kill a few more people. ;) [21:06] Captain, your crew. ;) [21:06] #uss-coro [21:06] * JHawke (James@64-252-71-13.adsl.snet.net) has joined #uss-coronado [21:06] Actually, I do have something very very subtle that I hinted at (and maybe talk to you about) for a few months down the road.
