Start of #USS-Coro buffer: Tue Dec 10 22:23:49 2002 * Now talking in #USS-Coro * ChanServ sets mode: +nrt * ChanServ changes topic to 'USS Coronado Aftersim! And yes, it IS after the sim! Wow! (Maiko)' * ChanServ sets mode: -ho Savant Savant * Aggie has joined #USS-Coro * Farrell has joined #USS-Coro did someone mention aftersim? ;) hehe I've nothing better to do :) * Savant is websitin, so can do this as well * Shadow|AFK has joined #USS-Coro so what's the premise? hehe, I dunno hmmm It just seemed like a good idea for a fun little frolic do we want to do a casual lounge sort of thing, or do we want to do something else? a party on Reor would be nice, but I get the feeling Jester wants to sim that and not just let us do something after the fact Heh, that's assuming there's a Reor left when we get back :) * Savant nods nods dude go read the teasers! Yeah, I know :) some parts of the cities were wasted but others werent :D But still, I'm trying to get into character ;) Maiko can't predict the future ;) If he's planning what I think he's planning, Jester's gonna want to leave Reor for the main sim. so what do we want to do? a holodeck thing? we could do a day on the bridge or something as well yeah thats what Im thinking too * Savant agrees Yup. ::gets to work writing Maiko's Academy Award winning performance for that ep :):: Hmm, maybe bridge or something. More than enough repairs to do * Savant nods nods Services for marines lost in action et al. Yeah, but I wrote the idea for the post-war era episode(s) that Jester and I discussed; oddly enough, I submitted that episode before Will of the One, but WotO aired first :) well, if we're doing something on duty then many of us won't be interacting really o_O ::nods:: Which is why I suggested services. which will be us being stone faced and not saying much... funerals aren't the best of social functions ^_- ::chuckles:: True a wake, then? or perhaps a celebration of sorts? ::nods:: thats what I was thinking that would work well ^_^ but we really couldnt celebrate till after we cleared off Reor An impromptu party onboard. Small gathering. "It's just brunch - a danish or a light pastry..." a celebration that we have lived and that hope still exists for the Defenders and the Alliance we could do a brunch ^_^ More like just a party at finally taking down the Pfhor, to blow the stress and relax before the next big mission :) * Savant nods ::has mental image of the scene from Starship Troopers shortly before they're ordered to re-take the base:: "I ask for the best, and I give you the best! Here's the beer! And here's the entertainment!" have fun! thats an order! hehe ::nods:: I like the idea of a breakfast/brunch gathering where we celebrate. Maybe the Officer's Mess instead of the Lounge? sure ^_^ ::nodnods:: * Farrell is now known as Maiko * Aggie is now known as Darek_Smith Shall we dance, people? ::grins:: Petal to the metal Commander ::Grins:: sure ^_^ The place: The Officer's Mess. The Time: Too early. Ready set go! ***************Sim Start****************** ::yawns walking into the officer's mess having woken up well before her normal time to attend:: ::Savant would be a morning person, were she a person at all. She was cheerily setting up the breakfast for all:: Mornin' y'all. ::waves hi:: good morning Maiko ^_^ ::sits quietly just to the right of the head chair, his breakfast of pancakes and fruits barely touched:: So are we going to be treated to video of that Pfhor battlecruiser crashing into the moon? I'd love to see that again. ::grin:: ::chuckles as he looks up:: Not at breakfast, Ensign. ::Savant holds up a hand and the reel started up on the closest viewscreen. she grinned:: It's been called one thousand and thirty four times so far ^_^ ::smirks:: I'm just glad that wasn't us instead. I almost died when that moon came out of nowhere like that. you got out of the way quite well, I think. ::takes a seat a few seats down from Smith, leaving room for the higher- ranking officers who show up:: * Savant brings another plate of croissants to the table, placing it in the centre, before sitting down herself ::glances at Maiko and grabs a banana and begins slicing it on top of his hotcakes:: ::enters into the officers mess and cracks his neck to the side and moves down towards the table:: hmmm big crowd for this early in the morning... ::smiles and takes a seat:: There's not that many of us showing up this morning, Ensign. Don't be a stranger. good morning Mr Prescot ^_^ ::stomach growls:: Guess that's one vote for digging in to those croissants. ::picks one up and inhales its aroma deeply:: Mmmmmmmm... ::nods:: Major. Good of you to join us. ::smiles thinnly:: ahh good morning Savant... there some kind of meeting Im interrupting? Normally very few people are up at this hour just a brunch this morning ^_^ please do join us ::shrugs:: After the debris fields out there, Xanadu here, and the radiation zones out there... I think I just need a little space around me for once ::grins:: Well, celebratory brunch. ::She chuckled:: start to feel crowded once things cluttering closer than a million kilometers? ::nods eagerly, tackling the baked good:: ::she grinned a bit and shook her head, leaning back into her chair:: Don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid of smashing into anything but all the same I like to have room to maneuver. Used to having entire skies to myself and a few shuttles. ::frowns:: Not that it was any better down on the planet, or so I hear... it's amazing how ones' senses can expand like that. I didn't think you organics had it in you ^_^ ::nods solemnly:: We'll be heading back to Reor as soon as we can. I'm sure that we'll have very few obstacles en route. Oh, you'd be surprised what we have within us, Savant. ::that thought sobers her up rather quickly:: ::nods at Smith:: greetings Sir... ::orders up a large steak and eggs:: Not really. ::she smirked:: a lot of squishy wet slimy things. ::nods in agreeance with Smith:: In my case, it's just easier to have a situational awareness of local space when you don't have an asteroid belt competing for your attention span. ::polishes off the croissant and goes for scrambled eggs and bacon:: ::has himself a large glass of water and digs into his food, using an oversized knife that he produced from a sheath at his waist ::She grinned at Maiko's enthusiasm:: It's amazing. I've seen you know that there's a Pfhor strike craft behind you before the sensors even tell you. ::pours a bit of maple syrup over his hotcakes and begins slicing up the breakfast confections:: ::waves off the comment:: It's not senses in that case, it's intuition. If I see something go flying by us, I have to assume it's going to try to turn to get us from behind. hm. Well, i must say i've always been impressed with the brain that you folks have in your heads. It's really quite marvellous. With the war over, maybe I'll be able to get some time in on a fighter. Would be kind of interesting to see how well I could do ::grins:: First I guess I have to learn phaser marksmanship. i'm sure you'll be a deadeye, Ma'am, you've got superb hand-eye co- ordination. ::looks somewhat lost in thought for a second or three before shrugging:: ::takes a bite and keep shis eyes downcast:: The war is far from over, Ensign. The clean-up could take months. ::glumly nods:: Point taken. ::she adds cheerily:: oh, don't take it so bad, Maiko. The war isn't over but we've hit all the salient points ^_^ ::nods:: Except for one: Taking back Reorsa. we're on our way to that one right now ^_^ ::looks up around the room:: They're counting on us. I, for one, intend to fight to my last breath. And I don't care what the danger is to me, I'm determined to be one of the first people to set foot on home soil again. ::has a very determined look on her face:: ::she chuckled:: no need to be so melodramatic, Sir! and besides, it riles the crew to hear their executive officer talking about "last breaths", his own or anyone elses' ::blinks herself back from the cusp of anger:: Well, maybe not the first... ::Savant grinned a highly amused grin and shook her head at the turn of events:: You know, sometimes I wish I were still an Intel officer. Analyzing data and suggesting courses of action were so much easier to deal with. ::sips at his cooling cup of coffee:: ::stretches his arms out a bit:: ah but then you could never get into the thick of it sir... youd be stuck behind a desk ::pictures Smith flying a desk and chuckles:: ::Savant conjured a holographic cup of coffee and lifted it to her lips:: once a spook, always a spook ^_^ Besides some people were born to not just suggest courses of action but to take them. mm, yes. Still, i have to sympathize. Quite often i'd rather be back at my old job. It had a certain satisfaction to it. ::digs into her scrambled eggs, toying with them for a moment:: ::for a moment, pictures herself back in the cockpit of her plane, the wind rushing past her face:: Then again, i wasn't treated exceptionally well. I suppose i can't complain about where i am ^_^ * Darek_Smith has quit IRC (qonos.kdfs.net klinzhai.kdfs.net) * Shadow|AFK has quit IRC (qonos.kdfs.net klinzhai.kdfs.net) ((woops)) <> ****Pause!***** Thought it was getting a little quiet all of the sudden :) yeah o_o * Shadow|AFK has joined #USS-Coro * Darek_Smith has joined #USS-Coro ((welcome back ^_^)) mm, yes. I suppose i can't complain about where i am ^_^ ***********Sim Resume**************** ::looks over at the Commander then back at the crousant and takes a bite out of it:: Satisfaction with one's job... contentment... the Watchers accused our people of never being able to find it. oh, don't be so hard on the watchers, Sir. Not being hard on them, Savant. Just... just mulling over what they had to say. ::she smiled sidelong:: I wonder if i'll end up like them They did remove the Pfhor from existance... we have to give them that... Only because we had S'Buuth around to convince them to seek justice... or revenge. ::she frowned a little over the lip of her mug:: S`buuth could have been guided so much better. He was irritating, but i feel at least somewhat responsible ::shrugs:: In the end all that matters is that his actions and thoughts undoubtedly saved us. i get the impression, however, that was only a pleasant side effect Is that really all that matters? I would wish that we could have made some sort of peace. All those Birdies - er, Pfhor, just wiped out. I had always thought we were better than that. ::shakes head:: Commander, I don't think there ever WAS a way to reason with those monsters. ::she smiled a sincere smile at Smith, almost apologetic:: The survival instinct is a strong one. Just like there was no way for the Federation to reason with the Borg. ::wry grimace at Savant's mentioning of the survival instinct, it being one of the reasons she fled Reorsa to Coronado:: most sentients are highly reactive - once their survival is threatened, they'll do anything and everything to ensure it doesn't happen again. ::smirks:: Ensign, did you ever review the declassified logs from Deep Space Nine's senior staff from 2375 regarding the so-called "Jalbador Ord Incident"? ::looks over at Smith for a second and shrugs:: At least we wont have to worry about a massive Pfhor Empire anymore.. at the very least it will take them a while to figure out a new higher archey... infighting should keep them occupied for a while ::shakes head:: No, can't say that I had. Most of my perusing through the historical database has been with the Enterprise NCC 1701-D. ah, old Enterprise. They teach so much of that these days. ::nods:: In that incident, the crew of DS9 presented evidence that they had travelled forward to an alternate version of the year 2400 - just two years ago - in which the universe faced extermination. Based on their logs and Defiant's recordings, we tend to believe them. With me so far? ::frowns, confused a tad, but nots:: <> ::listening to Smith and sipping on his water:: * Savant lets him explain, listening patiently as well * ChanServ sets mode: -r In that possible future, it seems that Admiral Janeway and a taskforce of combined Starfleet and Borg ships fought their way through overwhelming enemy forces to Gateway, home of the Guardian of Forever. The details of what happened after that are sketchy, but we DID make peace with the Borg in that future. If we can do that - ::sips his coffee:: - we can make peace with ANYONE, Ensign. ::grin:: Ah, but as Savant was nice enough to remind us, the survival instinct is strong. the Borg really aren't that bad... they just have an opposing lifeway to ours. It's easy to band people together in a time of desperate need, but after that... ::blinks, realizing the parallels between what she's just said and what could happen after the Pfhor are finally finished:: ::nods:: One that demands they absorb everyone and everything into their culture. sounds like a lot of cultures we manage to subsist with ^_^ ::stares at Maiko as she puts the pieces together, already having reached that conclusion:: ::Savant sips her holo-coffee idly:: * Darek_Smith has quit IRC (praxis.kdfs.net botlh.kdfs.net) * Shadow|AFK has quit IRC (praxis.kdfs.net botlh.kdfs.net) ::winces:: Guess I never really thought about what would happen 'after' the war. <<<$#@$@$#>> *************Pause*************** * Shadow|AFK has joined #USS-Coro * Darek_Smith has joined #USS-Coro * botlh.kdfs.net changes topic to 'USS Coronado Aftersim! You'll find a way, I know it. ::smiles politely:: home... ::thinks bout that for the first time in a long time:: havent thought of going back hom ein forever i've never really had a home, i guess. I guess I feel a little guilty, with Reorsa having been my home my entire life... why guilty? ::shakes his head:: Home, Savant, is where the heart is. I would venture a guess that your home is here, Savant. ::smiles tenderly:: Well, I'm a lot closer to going home again than the bulk of the crew ::sad smile:: * Aggie has joined #USS-Coro that it is, Sir.... i've never been attached to places or things, really. Well, i have a few ^_^ Ensign, don't feel guilty at being close to home. Be happy. I am happy... I just wish you could all feel the same as me. Well, aside from the nervousness ::grin:: don't worry about that Maiko ^_^ no one is going to grudge you being happy about this turn of events. ::lays a hand on her shoulder and smiles that fatherly smile of his:: Maiko, I want this crew to be happy. If the Reorsans with us are happy, then I assure you that I'm happy for you. ::smiles, comforted:: and besides, we may not be Reorsan, butif not we're at least closely related. Reor might just become home for us. ::picks up an apple and examines it:: Believe me, we're fighting as much for our right to live in peace as we are for yours. ah, i'm not so much worried about getting back to the milky way as i am about family and friends. I haven't many, so it isn't that bad. ::checks the chronometer on the wall and takes a bite of his apple:: in a hurry, sir? ::polishes off the bacon strips:: ::Savant watched them eat with an amused look on her face:: ::munches on his apple:: Seems there was an incident involving Captain Serrold-Fel during the battle. One of the Marines tried to spring him from the brig and murder him. I'm heading up the investigation personally since I was the one who sent him on the mission that landed him in the brig in the first place. Yes, i know. I do hope poor Craig is all right. ::swigs a glass of orange juice:: what does that taste like, anyways? He's fine, but Sergeant Areanas is in bad shape. Seems that Captain Fel managed to save himself and returned to his cell. ::arches an eyebrow:: Arenas has always been a bit of a troublemaker... ::sips his orange juice and hands it over to Savant:: Go ahead and try it. Tell me what you think. murder him??? I don't suppose he had a motive, or was this just a 'spur of the moment' decision? uh, Sir. ::she waved her hand throught he glass, the binding fields off, so she passed right through:: Hologram. No drinkie. ::chuckles at Savant as he polishes off his pancakes and leans back:: Sergeant Arenas was of the impression that Captain Serrold-Fel was responsible for her lover's death. <> ::shrugs:: I can't deny that he might have been involved. <> Love makes people do strange things. ::she smirked in humour:: that it does.... that it does. ::looks away, his eyes downcast:: Indeed. ::looks confused, obviously having said something a little too close to home for Commander Smith:: ::she gave him a supportive smile:: don't get down, Sir. You aren't alone. No... no, I'm not. But sometimes I do miss her and the kids. I understand entirely Sir. I do relate. You know, my little girl should be graduating from the Academy this coming May. ::didnt realize the XO h ad kids:: I suppose that is one benefit of having cut all ties with parents before we were stranded here ::finally puts two and two together:: my father should be retiring as well.. again. though i doubt he will. ::smiles:: She'll make a hell of a pilot. Might even give you a run for your money, Maiko. ::smiles politely:: ::chuckles:: I guess I kind of ruin the image of the gruff and aloof first officer, don't I? ::shakes her head:: You never had that image to begin with ::grin:: i think that the idea of a gruff and aloof first officer is counter- intuitive. The XO is supposed to be the approcheable one ^_^ ::nods in agreement with Savant:: Well, perhaps. Though without a Chief of the Boat right now, I kind of have to pull double duty whipping the enlisted boys and girls in line. if you need any help, let me know. Us ex-spooks have to stick together ^_^ ::smirks:: And if not, just put them on a shuttle with me and I'll give 'em a ride that'll straighten them out for life ::evil grin:: we want to fly them straight, not in circles, Maiko ::roars with laughter:: * Savant grins ::smirks:: sometimes those enlisted boys and girls have it easier than we do I think ::grins:: Well of course they do. They don't have any major consoles blowing up in their faces. Just the minor ones ::grins:: oh, i don't know. They work hard. poor Ednias works his heart out, and was passed up for promotion again ::stands up and heads out:: Well, I have to meet with Mr. Marcy and Colonel Ironside. We have to get this mess with Serrold-Fel straightened out soon. enjoy, Sir. Don't work too hard. ::snorts:: Have a good day Commander. Or try to. ::smiles:: ::She grinned and winked at him:: ::smiles and waves to the group:: * Aggie has quit IRC (Leaving: "It was a small price I paid for putting foot to ass for my country." -Augustus Gibbons, "XXX") * Darek_Smith has quit IRC (Leaving: "It was a small price I paid for putting foot to ass for my country." -Augustus Gibbons, "XXX") ::snickers:: I wager the Col will just want to throw Fel back into the nearest cell... sometimes i think he needs it, too. A little confinement is good every now and then. Reminds us of just how valuable our freedom is. that Craig is just so rebellious. It's not good for him. espically under the Col... he doesnt take to rebellion all that well Old Tinshanks? no, he likes rebellion like the admiral likes transporters. Not-at-all ::chuckles, finishing off the last of her grape juice:: ::snickers at Savant's nickname for him:: I'll have to remember that nickname ma`am... ::She grinned:: Tinshanks? Rustrump? There's a few names for him, Sir. You should listen to your troops during their off hours ^_- ::she added proudly:: Tinshanks is mine, they appreciated it. hmm I must be loosing my touch with the enlisted men... if they dont think they can tease the Col in front of me ::frowns:: Speaking of listening to troops, I have to do that with my own. ::recylcles the dirty plate and glass:: Promised some of the other helm officers that I'd go over my flight performance at Lh'owon on the holodeck with them today at 0900 hours. ::grins:: well, Sir... look at your rank. I hate to break it to you, but you're in the upper-echelons. cheers, Maiko ^_^ I'm sure I won't hear any end of jokes at the stunt I did pulling out of the atmosphere ::wry grin:: Have a peachy day y'all. ::exits:: ::she smiled and waved at Maiko:: * Maiko has quit IRC (Leaving: ...but if the Pfhor attack the North Pole, does that mean there won't be any Christmas? ::dramatic camera angle + music:: No... because we're going to SAVE Christmas... Coro style. ::grin::) ::frowns:: dont remind me.... ::shakes his head:: at least I didnt get it because of what my father did in some war thirty years ago.. you earned it Sir, you deserve it. If you don't want to be officer staff, turn down your commission. I'm sure you'd enlist as a regimental sergeant-major at least ^_^ ick.. Id get stuck being a liason between "Tinshanks" and the other enlisted men... desk job, no combat oh, i doubt that very much, Sir. everyone fights. ((no-one quits)) ::she rested her chin in her hand and her elbow on the table:: Sometimes i think i missed my calling. I should have been a marine. so much more peaceful. peaceful?? simpler I will give you that... Your told to go and kill the enemy, or rescue the innocent... ::she smirked a bit:: straightforwardness of orders is peacefulness for me. . . what's happening out there is only so much static most of the time. now, keeping track of ten thousand people at the same time, that's a battlefield. That does sound a bit daunting... ::stretches up again and smiles:: thank you for the conversation ma`am.. but I must be off now ah, have a good day Sir. Go spend some time with your men. You'll appreciate their humour. ::chuckles:: thank you savant... good day to you ma`am see you Sir. ::stands and exits the mess:: * Shadow|AFK has left #USS-Coro End of #USS-Coro buffer Tue Dec 10 22:23:49 2002
