[18:13] Stardate 240203.11: "On This Rock", Part 1, by Jester. [18:13] ::steps back:: [18:13] SUMMARY: Siege warfare. [18:13] It has been a fairly quiet couple of weeks for U.S.S. Coronado, the rest of the Starfleet Task Group 5.4, and the allies. Pfhor attacks, which had flared up around the time of the ambush in the I032 system, have again slackened off to mere nuisance raids in and around protected systems, but the minefields in the primary systems prevent major assaults. [18:13] Final repairs have been completed to U.S.S. Gryphon, and the ship is again nearly ready for launch from Mobile Repair Facility Onyx in Reor orbit. This was completed just in time, because in addition to the Reorsan starship Destiny recently launched up to Onyx, the first of the Defiant II spaceframes is nearly complete at the Fisher's Landing VAB. [18:13] Due to the destruction of two Camelynian capital ships in the Battle for I032, Crown Prince Gaveston-Tudor is currently looking at methods for redeploying his current ships and repairing the damage inflicted to the carrier Lan DuLac and his other heavy warships. All in all, these weeks have been quiet time... a quick breather to rebuild and reorganize. [18:13] Briefing complete. [18:13] * L1WL_Serrold acknowledges with a crisp salute. I recommend we revert to warp or other modes of transportation until we are clear, and leave marker buoys for those who follow. [19:03] ::nods:: Bring us to Impulse speed Mr. Alados! [19:03] E>::mutters about installing a cut off in enginering:: [19:03] RR> ::heads for the Bridge:: [19:03] We're getting energy spikes from the Apori. [19:03] ::looks to the 'heated' Farley:: What do you have? [19:03] RR> Let's hope so. ::rises from his chair and follows the Captain out of the ready room::\ [19:03] ::turns back to the panel to check the drive:: [19:03] M> He was infected by a virus and we know that artifial beings are a bit weaker to corruption than organic ones. ::finds something stable to grab onto:: [19:03] E>::starts ordering engineering teams out of engineering to do various things:: [19:03] ::nods and drops out of slipstream:: {{We are returned to impulse.}} [19:03] =.\ction= Coronado's engines disengage, and the frigate drops to impulse power. [19:03] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:03] TL> ::takes off towards Deck 6:: [19:03] scanning for harmonic disturbances from our own sensors. [19:03] Thoughts can you keep an eye on the power levels? [19:04] Permission to raise shields. [19:04] ::looks at the sensor display again:: The starfish fish are now almost completly out of phase, commander [19:04] Aye sir.::said to Farley:: [19:04] <> [19:04] ::heads directly for the Mission Ops console:: [19:04] cochrane fields, such as shielding and computer core sheathes, are sdaly compromised. [19:04] E>::sniffs to herself as she fusses with the slipstream controls:: [19:04] Granted Commander ::to Drexler:: I want every possible precaution [19:04] ::heads for his chair:: Report. [19:04] M> +taps+ Serrold to Prescot. What the hell is up, Lieutenant? [19:04] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:04] Commander, I am picking up reflections from a subspace disturbance. [19:04] ::glances at Savant:: Actually, I think we may not be able to raise shields. [19:05] agreed [19:05] I'm working on it. [19:05] They're centered in the Pitstop system. [19:05] =.\ction= The slipstream core continues to shudder... whatever it is is still affecting the core despite the fact that we've stopped. [19:05] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:05] ::begins typing on the tactical console:: [19:05] How is the levels Thoughts? [19:05] ::nods:: Yellow alert! [19:05] =.\ction= The automatic alert warning sounds as Coronado's alert status changes to yellow . [19:05] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:05] ::slides into the Mission Ops console and quickly loads his preset:: Subspace Countermeasures are inoperable. [19:05] Approximatley 3 minutes ago we experienced the first of 2 power disruptions in the slipstream Core...I have engineering working on it and we have dropped to impulse and raised shields... [19:05] Shields up, please. [19:05] TL> ::exits and heads towards the barracks:: +taps+ there is some disturbance that is disrupting slipstream ::feels the shake:: make that the whole ship... [19:05] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:05] Commander Daren, Sensors are confirming. There are reflections from some sort of subspace disurbance. [19:05] ::turns to Daren and listens:: [19:06] They measure approximately 3 light years in diameter. [19:06] Tlaloco, is is a space-fold? [19:06] Power levels are normal but the ship[s systems are just starting to cease operating for some reason. ::looksat Savant:: Commander are you positive that hte virus is totally gone? [19:06] ::generally ignores the rumbling and continues working on the translation matrix, taking peices from pattern analysis projects in the various intellignce labs:: [19:06] M> Well, Lt. I'll clear you for flight ops. But if you continue to have moral issues to weigh, please don't hesitate to contact me [19:06] sensor return on Pitstop just went dead, sir. [19:06] E>+taps+ Engineering to Bridge, I'm shutting down the slipstream core... it's gonna shake itself to pieces otherwise... [19:06] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:06] ::frowns:: I wonder why the slipstream core is being affected, but not the warp core? [19:07] Shields coming up... however, they're fluctuating tremendously. ::raises shields and hopes for the best:: [19:07] =.\ction= Coronado's shields activate! [19:07] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:07] E>::orders one of her engineers to start the shut down process:: [19:07] my ping responce to the Pitstop sensor systems have just timed out, Sirs. I fear the worst. [19:07] space fold, sir. Could be. [19:07] E>::mutters:: I'm gonna regret shutting that drive down I know it... [19:07] ::goes to Tlaloco to check over his shoulder:: Hmmm, odd [19:07] ::frowns and looks at Savant:: Timed out? Explain. [19:07] ::puts his head into his hands:: Not that peoblem again! [19:07] What do you make of it, Commander. [19:07] ::turns to look at Alados:: Mr. Alados, back us off, best sublight speed. [19:07] M> I gotta see what's going on. ::leaves Sickbay, bound for the turbolift:: [19:07] I did feel like the winds had shifted. [19:07] Pitstop is no longer sending up sensory data [19:07] MB> ::enters and starts barking orders to be ready for anything getting Marines in line... suiting up himself just in case:: [19:07] ::quickly enacts the command:: [19:07] M> ::nods as he heads out of sickbay:: Thanks, Doc! +taps+ Prescot, I'm going to ready the T-birds for flight. Doc just cleared me. [19:07] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:08] ::stops talking and just listens:: [19:08] ::glances at the lorason results screen again and does a double take, taps a few commands into the console before turning in her chair:: Urhm, Commander, the Pitstop System has just disappeared from the LORASON scans... [19:08] I suppose perhaps that subspace is too rough in this sector of space for such missives to be effective. [19:08] I have a feeling if it was to Phfor we'd have known it by know.... [19:08] MB> +taps+ congradulations ::grins:: good luck and happy hunting:: [19:08] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:08] Any communications from Pitstop? [19:08] +taps+ Farley to Oswald maam I have some bad news. Our power loss problems seem to have returned. [19:08] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:08] all scans- Let me see what tachyon readings show me. [19:08] TL> Deck 9. Main Bridge. +TAPS+ Thompson to Ironside, Lieutenant Serrold has been cleared for full flight operations. [19:08] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:09] +taps+ Acknowledged, Doctor. [19:09] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:09] ::She comments to Drexler quietly, somewhat mollified:: Yes, Sir, there's no trace of the Pfhor virus. [19:09] E>+taps+ ::says a nice choice word:: okay Farley [19:09] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:09] ::takes that into account as he prepares preliminary flight plans for the Spectres:: [19:09] *> ::enters TL:: Spectre bay. Double time. [19:09] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:09] ::looks at Savant and looks inquisitive:: What? [19:09] Incredible. Pitstop has completely vanished, COmmander. [19:09] Drexler, whats the comm traffic like within Pitstop? Anything? [19:09] Communication to Pitstop is all but cut off, Lora. [19:10] It's like the Apori are cloaking the entire system! [19:10] ::turns to Thoughts:: What you got for readings? [19:10] ::she cocks an eyebrow at Drexler as a responce; he had apparently struck a nerve, and she didn't reply further:: [19:10] Or...nesting it somehow into subspace. [19:10] On Pitstop? Nothing sir. [19:10] But why would they do that? [19:10] =.\ction= Ship's condition is currently: Yellow Alert . [19:10] E>::looks around engineering:: okay people grab a phaser if you don't already have one and then get back to work [19:10] No our power problems. [19:11] ::turns around looks at the Captain:: They sounded agitated....excited...moments ago? [19:11] sir, with all due respect, maybe we should raise shields. [19:11] ::enters the bridge:: [19:11] SB> ::enters the flight bay and nods at his team:: Ok, people - flight prep. I want the fighters brought to two-minute hot stand-by. [19:11] ::looks back at the viewscreen:: They must know something we don't. [19:11] ::nods slowly, then heads for Ma'Aru:: Lieutenant, bring up that transmission again. [19:11] We aren't having power problems Sir. Just system problems. [19:11] MB> ::finishes suiting up looking around seeing his men ready:: +taps+ Lt Prescot to Col Ironside.. Sir I have Alpha Company set and ready go on standby... [19:11] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:11] E>::frowns at her power loss problem, mutters:: one of these days I'm gonna install some sort of system to keep other people from stealing my power... [19:11] ::grins at Thoughts on the way by:: [19:11] To add to Savant's report, all communications are halted in Pitsto--- ::watches the scanners:: [19:11] E> +taps+ Engineering to Bridge, do you guys have any idea where my power is going? [19:11] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:11] the entire system has vanished [19:11] ::nods, replaying the transmission:: [19:11] Yes, but when we have the system problems the power problems aren't far behind. [19:12] +taps+ Acknowlged, Lieutenant....be prepared for defensive boarding action. We don't have the forces to mount an assault on any enemy forces that decide to join us. [19:12] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:12] quite a remarkable cloak... i pray that it is indeed a clever illusion and little more. [19:12] ::would grin back if his mouths were designed for it so settles for a wink, which looks odd with more then one set of eyes::' [19:12] =.\ction= Again, the agitated Apori voice. This time, a few words are translated. "Accursed" is in there twice. "Defense," once. "Defend," once. And "layer" -- whatever that means -- twice. [19:13] they protect themselves from the Pfhor by burying themselves beneath subspace layers; I see [19:13] ....they're layering the system in subspace? Because the Pfhor are mounting an assault, perhaps? [19:13] Damned puzzle.... [19:13] Didn't something similar to this happen when the Apori first ushered us to the Pitstop system? [19:13] I say we should treat this as an attack. [19:13] ::frowns:: We're assuming that the Apori are doing it, though. [19:13] MB> +taps+ Aye sir... making preperations now ::cuts the com and starts handing out orders for the men to go in case of invasion in squads to patrol decks and work with the bridge to get locations on intruders:: [19:13] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:13] ::takes a seat at the science console, turning the chair to listen to the conversation [19:13] Granted, we've only known them for a few months, but we haven't seen the Apori run from a fight yet. [19:13] +taps+ Commander Oswald we are no experiencing any power loss, we are just loosing various systems due to some sort of disruption. [19:13] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:13] ::arches an eyebrow at the Captain:: You think this might be the work of the Pfhor? [19:14] SB> ::looks around as the flight crews prep the fighters:: SSGT Jackson! Are those modifications installed yet? [19:14] I hope you have an impressive array of evasives plotted, Mr. Alados. [19:14] This would be a new weapon...a new technology of theirs we haven't seen deployed before. [19:14] ::turns to Ironside:: I'm just trying not to eliminate any possibilities. [19:14] ::She comments thoughtfully:: The Pfhor must be attacking in full, ehm, Pfhorse. [19:14] ::closes his eyes, then looks towards Savant before opening them again:: [19:14] The virus has done nothing for your sense of humor, Commander. [19:14] {{If I was piloting a small craft, I would be obliging such a request. I am less familiar with starships.}} [19:14] ::She could do little but beam a quite wide and apologetic smile:: [19:14] E>::grrs and mutters:: someone is messing wiht my ship.... +taps+ Thoughts any idea where it's coming from? [19:15] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:15] unless our sensors are deceiving us. Perhaps our problems are not out there, but with our own sensors. [19:15] I'm sorry, Sir. The atmosphere seemed so dreary and hard in comparison to not so long ago. [19:15] +taps+ Unfortunatly no Ma'am. But if I had to guess I'd say the Pitstop system some how. [19:15] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:15] Exec, let's pull up Lieutenant Hammond's slipstream modifications... the ones that allowed us to operate in the vicinity of Apori rift drives. [19:15] =.\ction= Ship's condition is currently: Yellow Alert . [19:15] {{Better learn fast, Mr. Alados.}} [19:15] Maybe we can put her modifications to use and get into the system. [19:15] ::looks at some info on the drive panel:: [19:16] +taps+ Farley to Oswald [19:16] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:16] {{Yes.}} ::begins bringing up the list of evasives pre- programmed into Coro's flight computer:: [19:16] Might as well eliminate that possibility. I'll run a diagnostic on our own sensor systems. [19:16] SSGT_Jackson> SB> ::wipes his hands off as he appraoches Serrold:: Well, sir, we've gotten half your fighters and half the T-cats modified with the false-matter shields. They still haven't been test yet. Plus, we have the other half of the fighters out of commission while we make the mods. Find out if they've got any Apori ships they can contact... and see if Jisa Ron Drull has been seen in the allied systems lately. [19:17] ::wonders out loud:: Could we try launching a sensor probe? Send it in with express details to go in, take a peek, and return to the ship? [19:17] ah, dear Captain, i'll break that code with as little delay as possible. [19:17] I'll try, Captain. The subspace communications array is being tremendously difficult, however. ::quickly maximizes the console for communications work and attempts to establish a solid link with Reor, or, failing that, get a simple message out:: [19:18] I'm all for it, COmmander. I still am unprepared to say this isn't simply a problem with our own sensors. [19:18] +taps+ I think I might have an idea on our problem. Since the problem started with our slipsteam idea maybe we flew through a distortion and got sort of stuck and the drive and shields are powering it? [19:18] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:18] ::nods, turning to Alados:: Mr. Alados, fall us back as much as is possible at sublight. ::turns to Savant:: Commander, help Alados. Find us a clear spot to transmit from. [19:18] Captain, I suggest the opposite, sir. We use the engine modification to get as far away from Pitstop as possible, regroup, and then investigate. [19:18] SB> Call up the T-cats two working fighters. Get them prepped for combat. Now! [19:18] aye aye, Captain; i have a sunny spot all picked out already.
