[18:07] SUMMARY: What the Watchers can make, the Watchers can also unmake. [18:07] It has been about ten days since the battle in and around the Reor, Meyer, Pitstop, and Gateway systems already being called the Defense of Reorsa. It was only a semi-successful defense at best. While the Pfhor ships have folded out of allied space for the moment, there is absolutely no doubt that they'll be back, on their deadline. [18:07] The leaders of each faction in the alliance are debating how to respond to the Pfhor Hegemony threat/demand that they join or be conquered. In the meantime, while we wait for a decision, Coro and many of the other surviving allied ships are either picking up the pieces, being repaired, or following up tangents related to the battle. [18:07] Coro's officers have been asked to investigate a tangent. In the aftermath of the battle, several Reorsan patrol crafts and fighter groups took it upon themselves to "mop up the stragglers," chasing down and destroying Pfhor strike craft that got separated from their capital ships. One of those patrol craft has asked for assistance with a situation... [18:07] Briefing complete. [18:07] ack [18:07] ack [18:07] ack [18:07] ack [18:07] ack [18:07] ack [18:07] ack... some speech... [18:36] 7> Well that hit the spot. [18:36] *> ::His gasps for air for only a moment longer, cheast heaving with the sharp intake of air. The sensations begin dying down.:: [18:36] ::glances back.:: Four minutes to the edge of the nebula at current speed sir. [18:36] 7> Tell me, do we have some borg technologie around here?....hum? [18:36] ::nods silently:: [18:37] CIC> ::nods:: Stardate 240102.05, taken by Coronado's own sensors. [18:37] CIC> ::smirks at Savant's statement, finding it a little more literal than the phrase was meant to be:: [18:37] 7> ::thinks:: not that I know of. Why? [18:37] =.\ction= The tank's display shifts, very slightly, to show an identical planet in an almost identical nebula. [18:37] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:37] CIC> ::She nods:: i still feel embarrassed by that situation, Sir. I'm only glad that it ended well, and I hope that the planet hasn't suffered adversely for the event. [18:37] MB> ::takes his drink and heads back to the table he was at before, nodding to a GSgt as he passes and hands him a daily report form:: [18:37] CIC> ::suddenly shakes his head:: Wait, that's wrong. ::adjusts the display slightly:: This is the image taken by Coro's sensors. [18:38] *> ::He sighs and shivers, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead.:: [18:38] CIC> No, Sir, I'm afraid you were right the first time ^_^ [18:38] CIC> Hrm.....::takes another sip from his coffee:: The Reorsans hadn't discovered this planet beforehand? [18:38] CIC> ::leans back against the opposite tank:: The first image was taken by Patrol Craft 1/3. Yesterday morning. About a half light- year from here. [18:38] CIC> Life signs? [18:38] 7> ::remember something:: I thought that with it we could do as the USS Voyager did, well, Ens Harry Kim extented the range of the "astrometircs" lab to scan for something like several light years and prject that on a 3d look screen. [18:39] CIC> Well, Captain, Colonel, i doubt that Thistledown has an identical twin. [18:39] 7> I thought that on our break time we could have worked on something like that ::smile:: [18:39] ::leans back again, sighs slightly, and regards her console with just a bit of contempt:: [18:39] CIC> Humanoid, animal mix, consistent with sensor readings from the Thistledown. Or as close as we could get to accurate readings. And no, the Reorsans didn't detect the planet. And it's not a twin. [18:39] 7> sounds interesting, if we get some we might try it. [18:39] CIC> Before yesterday morning, in fact, it wasn't there. [18:39] 7> I'm kinda searching for something to do at those time. [18:39] CIC> ::takes another sip from his coffee, but stops in the middle of it:: Beg pardon? [18:39] ::steps closer to the helm station:: [18:39] CIC> ::Savant almost immediately set what part of the computer that were availible to analysing the readings further... if there were a means for Thistledown to go from the Milky way to M64 and back, there certainly could be a way to exploit that:: [18:39] CIC> Computer, replay PC 1/3 sensor logs, time index 0742. [18:39] MB> ::yawns looking over the report and and begins to fill it out:: (m) blasted reports.. [18:40] =.\ction= On the holographic tank, a Reorsan patrol craft chases a linked group of Pfhor strike craft, firing weapons... [18:40] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:40] CIC> ::The Savant icon ducked its head just as a Pfhor strike craft swung by overhead:: [18:41] ::notes the swirling slipstream tunnel on the main viewer and glances about the various stations to see who's on duty:: [18:41] =.\ction= The PC and the strike craft trade weapons fire, entering the Quaatis Nebula. As the PC shoots, something happens. There is the barest flicker, or maybe a waver in the space ahead of the ship, and the planet simply appears. [18:41] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:41] 7> We should get to engineering. ::motions for Sky to follow:: We can discuss it on the way. [18:41] CIC> ::leans forward a bit as the sensor logs play out:: Now that is damned peculiar.... [18:41] 7> ::nods and take his plate back to the kitchen:: [18:41] CIC> ::The little icon holds out a tiny holographic tricorder, scanning the event - a reasonable representation of the analysis going on behind the facade:: [18:42] =.\ction= The Pfhor strike craft, reasonably not expecting a planet to appear directly in their path, do not have time to dodge. The ships are fireballs within seconds, falling into the planet's atmosphere like comets. The PC manages to dodge to one side, tracing a path of plasma and debris across the planet's upper atmosphere before skipping off. [18:42] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:42] 7> ::follows Sky to the kitchen:: [18:42] CIC> Indeed. Planets rarely acrete so quickly. [18:42] CIC> Was it a result of the Patrol Craft's weapons fire, or was this unrelated? [18:42] Helm, prepare to exit slipstream... [18:42] *> ::glances at the chronomter displayed in the corner of the small trapezoidal computer terminal on his nightstand and considers heading to bed, even though he generally waited another hour:: [18:42] MB> ::continues to work on the daily report, no were near as fast as he should be as he is also looking over at one of the PADDs he put on the table:: [18:42] ::watches the timer on her console, the next set of orders already input and ready:: Aye sir, ready. [18:42] 7> So tell me more Sky. ::heading for the exit and TL:: [18:42] CIC> That's putting it mildly, I'd say. And no, we don't know if it was related or not. PC 1/3 was badly damaged, and only reached transmission range an hour ago. [18:43] 7> ::nods to the cook:: ok we may go now, after you. [18:43] CIC> I'd be prone to bet on a robed mage wielding a sword, more than a Pfhor plasma bolt, Sir. [18:43] CIC> ::takes another sip from his coffee, now rather convinced that this won't be an ordinary day, rare they are aboard Coronado:: [18:43] 7> About? [18:43] Exit slipstream...bring the ship to full impulse [18:43] CIC> We've been asked to pick up their crew and... investigate how an entire planet migrates 19 million light-years. [18:43] *> About our break time project. [18:43] ::taps, exiting slipstream and engaging full impulse power.:: [18:43] CIC> So it is Thistledown? [18:43] CIC> The scans match Sir. The planet is unique enough that i'd venture to say yes. [18:44] ::steps over to the command dais, bobbing slightly as he does so, still stiff with sleep:: {{We seem to be in quite a rush, Commander Daren...}} ::suggests that his statement in and of itself is part of an unasked question:: [18:44] CIC> ::nods:: As far as we can tell, but the patrol craft's sensors were badly damaged along with everything else. It's entirely possible that this is some kind of illusion. [18:44] CIC> It's more likely that Thistledown woudl migrate across galaxies, rather than there being multiple planets in the same situation. [18:44] *> ::enters TL:: engineering [18:44] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:44] CIC> Maybe even something intended to get our attention. [18:44] CIC> ::rubs his chin:: Savant, how close in composition are this nebula and Thistledown's original nebula? [18:44] *> ::sighs and shakes his head, getting up and heading out of his quarters, needing a walk:: [18:44] CIC> Would the residents notice a change in the atmosphere? The local space? [18:45] CIC> Both bear the same lovely red-gold hue, both have the same specific COBE rating, both have the unique radiation "bath", and both seem to have the same geologic configuration, Sir. [18:45] ::turns to Alados:: We have been ordered to investigate something in the Quaantis Nebula, not quite sure what exactly myself yet. +taps+ Bridge to CIC, Captain, we've exited slipstream and are heading in at full impulse speed now Sir... [18:45] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:45] MB> ::sips at his coffee, cursing the paperwork and science in front of him, hating them almost equally, but the paperwork have a distinctive lead now:: [18:45] TL> Well, it would require technologie that we don't have now. As for a project on our break time, it's something I would like to do only, as well as going on holodeck. I just hate going on holodeck while alone. [18:46] CIC> ::hrms to himself, walking slowly around the table, looking at the display from different angles:: [18:46] CIC> +taps+ Very well. Have whomever you have at Tactical begin scanning for a nearby Reorsan patrol craft. Also, ask Commander Ma'Aru to bring up all the data we have on a planet called the Thistledown, particularly local culture. [18:46] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:46] TL> I feel the same way about doing alot of stuff by myself. So boring. [18:46] ::nods slowly:: {{Is there any way I may be of assistance?}} [18:47] TL> Indeed it is. [18:47] CIC> ::Savant held up a small hand, holding a little image of Kelaka:: The gig is ready, Captain. [18:47] =.\ction= Coronado enters the nebula perimeter. [18:47] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:47] +taps+ Thistledown sir? With all due respect sir, that planet is millions of light years away...isn't it? [18:47] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:47] CIC> Savant, is the nebula within the 'red smoke'? [18:47] TL> ::enters engineering:: Here we are home sweet home. [18:47] ::hears the captain's requirement for someone at tactical and moves over to the tactical station:: [18:48] E> yeah. ::doesn't look so good:: [18:48] CIC> That's an excellent question Sir. . . give me a moment to investigate please. [18:48] CIC> +taps+ We're about to find out, Exec. Have someone look for that patrol craft. [18:48] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:48] CIC> ::nods at Savant:: Thank you, Commander. [18:48] ::nods back to Daren and commences scanning for the Reorsan ships:: [18:49] CIC> ::finds his thoughts flicking back to his time on Thistledown, and the jewel encrusted sword from it that now hangs in his office:: [18:49] E> ::look Farley:: hum? ::still look not to good, kind of food reaction style:: [18:49] CIC> ::She smiles politely at the Captain and nods, before replying to Ironside:: I'm afraid the Traxati diagram was too inaccurate, Sir. I can't tell if this is within their red range or not. [18:49] E> It may look bad but we have everything back up and running at 100% [18:50] ::eyes flash briefly in annoyance as something is causing difficulty with his scans:: [18:50] ::looks to Ma'aru:: Odd. +taps+ Engineering, from the Bridge. Are you reading any problems with the sensor or comm systems? [18:50] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:50] CIC> ::nods to Savant and finishes his coffee:: [18:50] E> I see. I stomac hurt a little, that's all. [18:50] MB> ::finally finishes the daily report tossing it on the edge of table and going back to other matter, downing the rest of his coffee:: [18:50] CIC> ::The little hologram frowns slightly... the expression looked positively pitiful given her caricatured appearance:: Processing speed has dropped dramatically, Sir. It's Thistledown all right. [18:51] CIC> Let's not jump to any conclusions. It's far easier for me to believe that someone or something wants us to believe that the Thistledown is nearby. [18:51] E> ::moves to the main panel as the call comes in and checks:: +taps+ Yes sir, sensor systems are down and power systems aren't stable. [18:51] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:51] E> ::heard a console beeping quite crazy:: Hum.. ::walk to it:: Man... ::taps on it:: There's a energy spike somewhere on deck 4. [18:51] CIC> Yes, Lora. But let's just call it a "gut instinct." [18:51] CIC> Although why they would want us to believe such a thing is more difficult to discern... [18:51] *> ::Drexler makes the rounds to the security office, armory, and various other areas of the ship, just to move around:: [18:52] CIC> ::glances over at Savant, eyebrows going up:: [18:52] E> :;looks over to Sky:: Can you check it out? [18:52] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:53] CIC> ::she smiled politely at the Captain:: the processing capacity degradation is exactly the same, it feels identical to that experience. [18:54] CIC> ::scratches the back of his neck:: Captain, given what happened the previous occasion we visisted Thistledown, what are your intentions with Kelaka? Are we going to be paying them another visit? [18:55] ::shakes his head:: {{Unknown inteference source.
