[18:05] 12Stardate 240005.29: "Songbird" , Part 1, by Jester. [18:05] 12SUMMARY: When it rains, people stand under the closest umbrella... all kinds of people. An old friend of the Dejat family. [18:05] 12Coronado managed to successfully return from her mission in the past. However, the damage to the ship was extensive in the process. We are still in the process of repairs -- in particular, slipstream propulsion is down, main power is off-line, and Engineering is generally a mess. Fortunately, a Mobile Repair Facility, the Pearl, is nearby. [18:05] 12With the assistance of the Pearl and her repair tenders, repairs to the ship are proceeding. In the meantime, a significant Starfleet presence (including the entire bulk of the 5th Fleet Task Group 5.5) has gathered. The reason: not only are patrol ships still being shifted to this part of the Romulan border, but a terrorist organization called Omega is active here. [18:05] 12Starfleet has had run-ins with Omega before, most recently during the failed coup of Admiral Za'Kal. This time, Omega seems focused on the Romulans; it is possible that tr'Idran was or is involved with them somehow. Due to the disruption in the area, the show of strength will remain, and a number of civilian vessels are also nearby, taking advantage of the Starfleet presense. Most of the Confederation doesn't trust me, but these Starfleet types do, and that makes me worry about them. ::grins wryly at that:: Still keeping up with my talents, Father's doing well. I last spoke to him a month ago. [18:40] SB> ::picks up a tool and begins working on some circuitry:: he's not actually all that scary... when he's not in the same room... And mr Dejat indicates our guest is doing well. [18:45] M> ::turns his attention back to Taj:: Indeed? Is that why your ship is so...unsightly? [18:45] <> [18:45] SB> 5Jenkins> 1 ::acts flabbergasted:: Whaddayamean "improvements"? ::dusts off a wing with tender care:: This is a fine piece of technology. Yes, it may need some improvements, but it bloody well does its job when called upon. [18:45] ::laughs silently to herself:: Perfectly alright. [18:45] ::raises his eyebrows slightly at the mention of visitors:: [18:45] {{That's what you think Ai'isha...Wait, what am I doing. I apologize}} [18:46] ::looks over at the Major:: Greetings Major. How did things go? [18:46] SB> ::nods:: it does it's job... but you must admit given new hull plates at least! it could do it's job better... [18:46] ::nods slowly, frowning:: Death is our companion in this space, all right. ::pauses:: Very well. You have the Bridge, Commander. Major Ironside, will you join me in my Ready Room? Daren, out [18:47] M> [18:47] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:47] ::nods at the Major:: Understood. ::watches as Ironside enters the Captain RR:: [18:47] RR>::places his hands behind his back, avoiding the temptation to rub his eyes:: Coffee would be nice, sir [18:47] M> 7Taj> ::nods sadly:: Yes, I'm afraid so. [18:48] M> ::sighs:: One man's prize is another's prey. How many times did we hear that back on Cardassia? [18:48] RR> ::nods and passes the replicator:: Coffee, black, and yet another cup of tea, Andorian blend, I think. ::removes both beverages and sets a mug in front of Ironside, then sits:: [18:48] {{Ai'siha, you don't understand...}} ::taps his console, slowly removing the SLipstream commands from the appropriate areas:: Mr. Daren, when you can, please let me know if my request has received a response. [18:49] M> 7Taj> Too many times to count. ::laughs:: I see you took your lessons well! [18:49] SB> ::walks over to Jenkins and Oswald, nods:: We have a new hotshot pilot from Flight Training coming in. ::proffers a PADD:: Here's his details. Lance Corporal Scott Richards, ::pauses:: Red Squadron. [18:49] {{Alright, tell me about it. I'm listening at least as well as I can}} [18:49] RR> ::sits across from the captain, avoiding a grimace, but at the same time, grinning ever so slightly as he picks up the mug:: Not as young as I used to be. Thank you, sir. [18:49] ::turns to the tactical sensors:: I'm not sure what one would consider odd, standby... [18:49] M> ::smirks:: They were useful. I can't do as much hear as I could back home, but that's mostly at the behest of Starfleet. They may entrust me with the helm of a ship, but they just aren't comfortable with a Cardassian intelligence operative fully equipped, I suppose. [18:50] ::nods quicklu to T' [18:50] [18:50] ::grins at Daren:: Use your own judgement Lieutenant. Consider it practise. [18:50] <> [18:50] M> ::Ross comes back from the morgue and find Mara and Barnes standing over the Cardy with some medical instruments, he walks over to them:: Ok, i'll just be a moment. ::walks towards Dejat and a different Cardassian:: [18:50] RR> ::chuckles:: I understand. ::turns the computer console around, activating it:: I read your report, Major, along with your recommendation for more Spectres. [18:50] M> ::notes Barnes and turns to him:: Ah, Doctor. ::smiles:: [18:50] RR> ::takes another sip from his mug, leaning back in the chair:: Has Starfleet responded that quickly? [18:51] M> 7Taj> We must all make our little sacrifices... ::turns to Barnes:: Hello. ::smiles:: [18:51] {{Ai'isha, I am exhibiting symptoms of the Pon Farr, yet it is not that time for me yet.}} [18:51] ::turns to COmmander Bentall:: Nothing out of the ordinary on those ships sir...but I must say I do have a corcern about our present situation, if I may... [18:51] SB> ::rolls his eyes to himself and nods:: He'll be coming aboard in the next few days, along with the new Spectres. [18:51] ::nods:: Go ahead. [18:51] SB> new spectres? [18:51] SB> newer version? [18:51] M> I didn't notice you two here, is there any reason for your presence in my Sickbay Dejat? I would like to treat Taj now. [18:52] SB> 5Jenkins> 1 ::in an aside to Oswald:: You hear? No dented panels. ::shakes his head at the cadet:: "Could use improvement," bah! [18:52] RR> ::chuckles:: Gods no. I am working on my own recommendation... after all, if I endorse your recommendation, chances are we'll get them. If I do not, chances are excellent we will not receive them. [18:52] ::sighs:: {{Your human side showing?}} [18:52] Well sir...I must say...I'm just a bit curious as to what a Cardassian is doing in *this* area with beings in stasis...it seems out of the ordinary ::smiles:: [18:52] {{I do not think so.}} [18:52] SB>::smiles at Jenkins:: new hulls... not patched... not needing to be patched... [18:53] ::Thinking:: {{Have you been drinking again?}} [18:53] M> ::raises his brow:: It all depends on your definition of reason, Doctor. If you feel that sickbay is only a place to heal physical ailments, then no. If, however, you broaden your horizons and realize that sickness doesn't only come from physical faults but also the sickness of missing an old friend, then yes, there is a good reason. [18:53] SB> ::looks curiously at Jenkins and turns back to Oswald:: I'm not quite sure. Major Ironside is negotiating to get us another wing of Spectres along with the replacements. ::shrugs:: I guess we'll find out when the shipment comes in. [18:53] RR> ::smirks a little:: So I take it you'd like for me to argue my case, then? [18:53] ::nods:: I would agree with you. But then again a lot of people thing it out of the ordinary that are Flight Officer is Cardassian as well. To be honest if he were anyone else I would have a security detail down there but seen as he's Mr. Dejat's friend I think it unneccassary. [18:53] SB> ::nods:: I don't suppose you'll be training any new fighter pilots? [18:53] M> 7Taj> ::laughs genially:: Though I much appreciate the sentiment, dear Dejat, I must submit myself to the tender mercies of your physician. After all, the physical injuries must be seen to at some point... [18:54] {{Now you are being illogical}} [18:54] SB> 5Jenkins> 1 ::smirks:: Oh, you'll patch those hulls, Oswald.. In fact, I'll make sure you do after each run. [18:54] M> Dejat, i'm in no mood for Philosophical discussions or whatever your going on about, now unless you have some injury which i cannot detect i am kindly asking you to leave. [18:55] SB> :;makes a face at Jenkins:: but I thought you were giving that duty to Stevens.. [18:55] SB> ::shakes head:: No, I'm afraid not. Spectres are delicate ships and the training is intensive to fly one. No, just Mr. Richards will be coming in. [18:55] ::nods:; Very good sir. But may I keep my eyes open?, unnofficially of course... ::looks a bit serious:: [18:55] ::Smiles::{{I am not I'm only trying to help you figure out what is making you show symptoms of Pon Farr so soon. Unless you want to go see Dr. Barnes}} [18:55] M> ::nods, smiling:: Very well. I'll be on the bridge for the next hour or so, but after that I'll look for you in Seventh Heaven. ::notices the curious look:: It's our lounge. ::nods curtly to the Doctor:: Very well, Doctor. I will attempt to enhance your view on life at a later date. ::smirks once more at Taj, then makes a brisk exit:: [18:55] RR> ::turns off the computer:: "Argue" is such a confrontational word. ::grins:: But you realize that if we load more Spectres, we will have to off-load shuttles, and we do not carry very many of those. [18:55] SB> 5Jenkins> 1Oh, but you like it so much, I couldn't possibly give it to Stevens. ::makes a mentor like grin and turns back to Curcio:: [18:56] RR> Six total, plus our cargo shuttle, in fact. Assuming we off-loaded four shuttles, that would leave us with only three. [18:56] SB> ::frowns at Curcio:: oh well... maybe Richards will need training.... :;shrugs:: [18:56] ::nods:: Please do Mr. Daren. That's what your here for afterall. [18:56] ::shudders unusally and mumbles somewhat under his breath:: Doctor Barnes indeed. [18:56] SB> ::nods:: Yes, he'll have to be familiarized with this ship and this ground crew. [18:56] SB> 5Jenkins> 1 A fine ground crew it is, sir. [18:56] ::nods:: Will do ::returns to the tactical station:: [18:56] RR> ::another sip:: I don't think I need to point out the use that the cargo shuttle has been getting in recent months, but I do see the point in the personell shuttles. That's why I'm prepared to free up some of my own space. [18:57] M> 7Taj> ::turns to Barnes, still smiling:: Well, Doctor? I'm all yours. [18:57] ::laughs quietly:: {{I heard that,Imzadi. YOu and doctors.}} ::Shakes her head:: [18:57] SB> ::grins at Jenkins before putting on a straight face and saying to Curcio:: especially with me on it... [18:57] SB> ::nods to Oswald and Jenkins:: Read up, I'll speak with you both later. ::turns and heads off:: [18:57] {{Doctors are so illogical}} [18:58] ::smiles at Daren eagerness:: [18:58] M> ::acknowledges the intern working with a Dermal Regenerator who moves away, then takes a Medical tricorder and begins to scan Taj:: [18:58] SB> 5Jenkins> 1 ::laughs heartily and pats Oswald on the back:: Aye. Now hand me that bipolar torch before I laugh me head off. [18:58] RR> In the last year, we've use the atmospheric transports a total of once. Given the unlikeliness of our ever participation in a planetary occupation, I don't forsee any complications with offloading the Buffalo and one of the Skimmers. [18:58] SB> :;looks at Jenkins:: do you know how to read? ::hands the torch to Jenkins:: [18:58] {{YOu know there are such thing as Vulcan doctors who are logical.}} [18:58] ::steps out of the TL and back into the bridge, moving down to his station and sliding into the chair:: So, did I miss on any exciting spatial phenomena or new threats while I was being thrown out of sickbay? ::smiles:: [18:58] {{However, Barnes is not Vulcan is he}} +taps+ TPrax to Lora Kor. [18:58] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:59] RR> ::snorts, taking another sip from his mug:: We haven't even touched the tanks, either. [18:59] ::grins:: Not really. How did the visit go? I take it you know him fairly well? [18:59] SB> ::stands at one of the side panels, writing out a letter to the incoming pilot:: [18:59] SB> ::grins:: I personally don't know how to read.... only to count... and not very high at that... learned from cards I did... [18:59] RR> ::nods:: True enough. But in addition to storage space, you'll also need launch space. We have only two shuttlebays. Will you be carrying the second wing in pieces, as we do the tanks or the skimmers? [18:59] RR> +taps+ Lora Kor here, Lieutenant. Go ahead. [18:59] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [18:59] SB> 5Jenkins> 1 Why is that? ::snaps on the welding helmet and turns on the torch:: [18:59] ::smiles:: Indeed. He's a very close friend of my father's family. He and I were very close comrades during my...training. He's been present at many important events in my life. Many. [19:00] {{True. But maybe you should see him anyway}} ::imagines ways of getting her husband to see the doctor and laughs, shaking the idea off:: [19:00] +taps+ Sorry to disturb you sir, but I thought you should know, Slipstream commands have been compltely deactivated until the drive is back online. So either you take responsibility for him or he will have to remain under security escort at all time while on board. What do you recommend? [19:03] RR> ::arches an eyebrow at one of his own ideas:: We might be able to remove the anti-gravity units from the sleds and one of the skimmers and use them to suspend the cargo shuttle and excess personell shuttles from the ceiling of the bay. Clearance underneath them might be a little tighter than normal....::lets his mind continue to work:: [19:03] RR> ::sips his tea as he waits for Ironside's assessment:: [19:03] SB> 5Jenkins> Whew. ::wipes some sweat off his brow and turns off the blow torch:: Thought ye were serious for a moment there. That was a mistake}} [19:04] ::struggles not to roll his eyes:: Well, let me consider that one. If I "tend" to him, then you won't have my charming presence on the bridge, or my quick reflexes during an unforseen crisis. On the other hand, if you assign a security detail to him, you're even more likely to have him do something dangerous, as he'll be rather annoyed--and satisified--that you don't trust him. [19:05] SB> ::roars:: Oooh hehehe.. ::wipes a tear from his eye:: Aye, you're a fine one. ::gets up and hands Oswald the torch:: Why don't you try welding on this next piece. [19:12] <> [19:12] RR> ::smiles a bit:: Can't very well set up a triage lab in a Spectre if we evacuate with injured. [19:12] ::smiles:: No Doctor, just here to to visit with out guest ::walks over to Dejat and hisguest:: [19:12] <> [19:12] RR> I suppose not. [19:12] <> [19:12] <> [19:13] ::raises an eyebrow:: Anything we need to be concerned with or is he just joking with you? [19:13] <> [19:13] RR> ::grins slightly:: I won't pretend to be an engineer who can rearrange components of the ship to accomodate any new fighters, but I do believe I recently picked up someone who is. [19:13] M> ::turns chuckling at Daren:: well, i don't think you'll get much out of him now, i was just going to try to fix his insides. [19:14] He's just joking, sir.::sadi aside to self:: I hope [19:14] RR> Oh? [19:14] Hm. If you two were Cardassian, and if you two were still courting, I'd just say it's his way of showing his affection for you. After all, we Cardassians initiate relationships by arguing with the person we're attracted to. [19:14] ::sneezes:: I'm sorry what did I say? oh jeez I must be losing my mind, we'll talk later about that doctor ::smiles:: What happened to him? [19:14] ::smiles reassuringly:: As do I Lieutenant. ::turns back to face the viewer:: [19:15] ::smiles feeling better:: Thank you for that little reassurance. [19:15] M> ::shrugs:: Damned if i know, I should really find uot but i usually just care about their injuries, not how they got them. [19:15] RR> ::finishes off the coffee in the mug:: Cadet Zunite Oswald recently transferred from engineering. Given her backround and the TF- 47's recent lack of tech crew, I assigned her to take care of the fighters that we do have. If there's a way of getting more of them aboard this ship for her to tinker with, I'm sure she'll be able to find it. [19:15] M> Ross> ::walks over to Barnes:: Taj is ready for surgery [19:15] M> ::walks over to the damaged stasis pod, listening to the Doctor:: [19:15] ::raises a brow at Dejat:: That's an odd way to show your affections for someone Commander. [19:15] 7> ::sits down at the bar and wonders what happened to old Dalton:: [19:16] SB> ::satisfied with the fighter, he strolls off to one of the side walls again:: [19:16] ::raises his brow:: No more odd than placing potentially allergy-inducing plants in their midst. [19:16] M> ::runs a hand along the cold metal of the tube and notices an odd panel on the side:: Hmmm [19:16] ::chuckles out loud:: Why would you do that? [19:16] M>::patiently waits, noting how the colors of sickbay almost have a pastel flavor in them:: [19:16] RR> ::nods, smiling:: I'll authorize a feasibility study. After all, I can see the utility of the idea. We just need to find the room. Perhaps the Hornets could be launched out of the workbee bays? Have her look into that. [19:16] 7> ::reviews some padds on fighter mechanics, trying to find ways to make them work better:: [19:16] M> ::activates his tricorder and takes a few readings:: [19:17] M> ::Raises A Brow at Daren then turns to TPrax:: So, what about you? [19:17] {{How you doing down there?}} [19:17] ::looks at Bentall:: That's something I've always fathomed about you humans. Your obsession with using flowers as tokens of affection confounds me! [19:17] RR> ::nods:: I'll do that Captain, thank you. [19:17] M> ::attempts to access the panel somehow but is unsuccessful:: Hmmm, intruiging... [19:18] RR> ::nods:: Thank you, Major. [19:18] M> ::looks down:: Sickbay is lovely today...::shakes his head:: Something is incorrect. [19:18] ::looks confused before understanding clicks in:: Oh... That's what you meant. Point taken Commander. Each culture has their own weird traditions I suppose. ::chuckles again:: [19:18] M> ::finally remebers and turns to Ross:: I'll be there in a minute. ::looks inquisitvely @ TPrax:: Incorrect? [19:18] RR> ::rises and snaps a quick salute, throwing a glance at the Captain's replicator:: One last thing sir.... [19:19] SB> ::tosses a ring from the ship into a parts bin:: [19:19] ::smirks:: All depends on the way you look at things, doesn't it? From my standpoint, if I can argue with someone and still enjoy their company, then I definitely know I can tolerate them. That's what the reasoning behind our use of arguing is. What's the reasoning behind your flowers? [19:19] RR> ::looks up:: Yes? [19:19] M> ::runs a deeper scan of the panels inner matrix:: Whats this...? [19:19] RR> ::looking at the replicator:: Is there some general order I'm not aware of that states that good coffee can only come from the Captain's replicator, because I haven't had a mug that good since starbase 275. [19:19] M> ::looks at the tricorder readout:: Financial records? [19:20] ::looks around rather sheepishly:: Well, to be honest with you I wouldn't know. I've but so much effort into my career that I haven't found time for dating. [19:20] <> [19:20] Ah, my condolences. [19:20] RR> ::laughs out loud, then replies, eyes twinkling:: Why, I wouldn't know, Major. Perhaps you should put in a maintenance request with Lieutenant T'Prax. [19:20] M>I believe the human term is, sick doctor, I am sick. ::looks at Barnes's uniform:: That is a lovely shade of blue. ::shakes his head:: see what I mean? [19:20] RR> ::smirks:: I think I'll do that. Thank you again, sir. ::exits back out onto the bridge:: [19:21] ::shrugs:: I'm sure I'll figure it out one of these days. So have you argued with anyone special lately? [19:21] RR> ::goes back to his tea and his SFI report, still chuckling:: [19:21] ::nods to the Major:: Evening, Major. [19:21] M> ::turns around to see T'Prax and Barnes speaking:: [19:21] ::nods a greeting at Ironside as he comes out of the Ready Room:: [19:21] ::turns back to Bentall:: Not as of yet. But, I have some plans. ::smirks, amused at how utterly like a school boy he sounds:: [19:21] ::nods to Dejat:: Commander. Missed you when I came it. [19:21] <> [19:21] M> ::turns back quickly before thay see him:: [19:21] SB> ::enters TL:: [19:21] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:21] Don't believe you were here when I left. ::smileS:: [19:21] ::grins:: I'll enjoy watching your efforts:: [19:22] M> Oh, Ok. It's Teal by the way. ::motions to Biobed whiles he takes out a medical tricorder:: please sit. [19:22] <> [19:22] Ah, right. ::looks at Bentall:: I hear we have visitors? [19:22] <> [19:22] <> [19:22] ::nods:: That we do Major. One of them is a particularily good frined of Commander Dejat here. [19:23] M> Back to this odd panel...whats with these financial records. [19:23] <> [19:23] <<::thwaps Dejat one:: That's what you get>> [19:23] TL> Deck 11, Holodecks. [19:23] <> [19:23] M> Perhaps I should bring this up with COmmander Dejat. [19:23] +taps+ Bentall to Daren. Report please. [19:23] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:23] TL> ::slips a flight sim program out of his hand as the doors swish open:: [19:23] ::arches an eyebrow at Dejat:: Really? Must make for an interesting guest, then. [19:24] ::chuckles:: [19:24] M>::waits for the doctor to do something:: [19:24] ::nods at Ironside:: I'm, sure. [19:24] ::grinning slightly as he moves towards the turbolift:: I'll be sure to double check the security lock on my personal files before I retire for the evening. [19:24] ::grins:: Hmm... Good idea. [19:24] M>::shakes his head again and follows the doctor:: Teal? I always thought you more of a sky blue doctor. [19:25] M> +tap+ Daren here, I'm in Sickbay sir...looking over the damaged stasis pod...I've found an odd panel on the outer casing, it appears to be ecrypted with some sort of passcode...since Cmdr Dejats friend is in surgury I was thinking about asking him about it. [19:25] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:25] ::raises an eyebrow:: Passcode? [19:25] ::enters the TL:: Main Shuttlebay. [19:25] ::raises a brow:: +taps+ Understood. ::closes the channel:: Perhaps you should go down and have a look Mr. Dejat. [19:25] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:26] Perhaps so. ::stands and heads over to the TL:: Sickbay. [19:26] ::places a hand over the TL door while he listens to the conversation:: [19:26] M> Well, i didn't choose the colours. ::scans TPrax with medical Tricorder:: [19:26] HD> ::slips the holodeck program into the computer:: [19:26] TL> ::lets the door close:: [19:26] +taps+ Bentall to LoraKor [19:26] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:26] RR> +taps+ Lora Kor here. Go ahead, Commander. [19:26] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:26] HD> ::steps inside the runabout cockpit:: Computer, begin simulation. [19:27] HD> ::sits down:: After flying Spectres day and night, these controls seem sluggish. ::takes control of navigation from the computer and begins the flight:: [19:27] +taps+ Mr. Dejat is heading down to Sick bay to investigate an encrypted panel on one of the stasis pods. Mr. Daren seems a little concerned about it. Shall I head down there as well or do you want to have a look personnelly? [19:27] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:28] M> ::arrives in sickbay:: Daren? [19:28] M> YOu should ahve doctor., YOu have such excellent taste...::shakes his head::...What am I saying! [19:28] M> ::looks at Dejat:: The Financial data records each seem to be isolated with different passcodes...do you know what it could mean? [19:28] RR> ::turns off the SFI report for the second time in an hour, then stands up, frowning:: +taps+ An encrypted panel? On a stasis pod? Let's go down together. ::exits the RR:: [19:28] [CoroLCARS SOUND] [19:28] SB> ::exits out onto the shuttlebay once more, and lets his sharp eyes sweep the deck for Oswald:: [19:28] ::rises and followes the Captain into the turbolift:: Lieutenant Ian, you have the bridge. [19:29] M> ::moves alongside and exmaines the encrypted data, nodding thoughtfully:: That Taj doesn't want prying eyes examining his financial records. ::grins:: I thought spies were the only ones that were supposed to want to pry into everything. [19:29] SB>::purses his lips, not seeing the Cadet:: Computer, locate Cadet Oswald. [19:29] Yes, sir. [19:29] SB Computer> Cadet Oswald is in 7th Heaven. [19:29] ::nods and heads for the TL, frowning even more:: [19:29] M> ::looks up:: Spies? [19:29] SB>::nods and enters the TL again:: Deck 7. [19:29] HD> Computer, load standard evasives training program, level five. [19:29] TL> Sickbay ::moves over to allow the Captain in:: The more I think about this situation the more worried I get. This is trouble, I can just feel it. [19:30] HD> ::takes a deep breath and braces himself for the incoming fighters:: [19:30] TL> ::looks up:: Sickbay. ::turns to Bentall and nods:: I can only think of a couple of reasons to require an encryption code to bring someone or something out of stasis. All of those reasons bad. [19:30] TL> ::nods:: My thoughts exactly Captain.
