Part One

(before the Pearce mission)

Sieven sat in his newly furnished office, small and cozy, as opposed to cramped as he thought it would be. There was a reasonable-sized desk wrapping itself on the far wall and protruding a meter into the room. There were two chairs for visitors, and a replicator on the far wall. It was a simply square room, but with its furnishings, made a reasonably good facsimile of an office on a true flagship.

He had just finished the final staff review for the flag group and leaned back into the chair, taking a stretch. He had forced himself to work on the staff accomodations before focusing fully on the Pearce mission in the following days he had just been informed of.

In the moment's peace, he reflected on a moment he'd had only a few years ago, that until that moment, hadn't seemed very important. Now it seemed to make sense…
