Zunite stepped into the gym and looked around for a sparring partner. She was feeling a little more like herself these days and wanted to practice her skills with her lightsaber, but with a lot of the 8th deck beamed into space the last few days - she felt she had better settle for a normal sword and a human sparring partner. As she glanced around she spied Prescot in a corner practicing. She walked over and bowed to him after getting his attention, "Would you do me the honor of allowing me to thoroughly beat you at your own game, sir?" Prescot looked at the former commander over and bowed his head slightly at her. "Are you sure it is wise for you to be engaged in such a dangerous sport in your current condition," he asked her with a questioning look on his face. "Dangerous? Against you? Nah." Zunite picked up a sword and swung it against an invisible foe once or twice. "Just don't hit my stomach." She advanced on him. "Yes ma`am," he replied and moved into a defensive position for a moment and let her make the first move. She swung at him, and he easily parried, after 10 minutes she was breathing heavily from the workout. "Okay, not in as good of shape as I would like... I guess 4 months of not working out could do that to you." Zunite put the sword back on the rack. Prescot raised his swordhilt in front of his face and bowed slightly to Zunite. "Thank you. It has been sometime since I have had an opponent who was not made out of photons," he said and sheathed his blade. "Perhaps you should sit down," he said and motioned at the mat nearby them as he watched her breathe heavily. You would not want to overexert yourself." Zunite gratefully sat down on the mat. "Overexert myself? Nah, I'm just..." takes a few breaths, "a little out of breath. I'll be fine in a moment." She smiled up at Prescot. "So what have you been doing now that the elements in the universe trying to kill the ship are significantly less?" "Paperwork mainly," he replied and sat down on a rack of barbells. "We train to make sure that incase someone decides that we should be purged of this galaxy, that they fail. But other than that, things have been very quiet around here in terms of sustained engagements since the end of the Hegemony War. I hear that you were a teacher on Reorsa?" Zunite nodded. "Yes, a visiting lecturer or something they called me. Then they gave me a research spot in the spring. Teaching really didn't agree with me. I don't understand how they expect those kids to learn by me standing in front of a room talking to them. I arranged a lot of tours and stuff... but then didn't have anything to test on. Finally the Dean and I got into a heated debate, and a few days later I was told that perhaps I could just fill in for professors who had to be absent from class in the spring and I could spend the rest of my time researching. Hence why I'm here... well that and friends in high places. Being planet-side sucked. I don't understand how anyone can be happy only seeing the stars at night." "Ahh yes. The academy instructors were always a bland sort of person. I could never understand why anyone would want to teach instead of do. Weird sort of people. I am pleased to hear that you have not become one of them. Despite the dangers here, I was sure that you would have hated it down there." "I didn't hate all of it, some of it was fun. But I think the what, 9 months or so of my stay, was quite long enough. This is more my home than that was. Have you seen my quarters now? I'm in a VIP suite... very nice... should have done this civilian thing a long time ago. More perks, less hassle." Zunite grinned. Jake chuckled. "I’m sure they are much more spacious than mine. What are you currently working on right now as a project?" "Modifying current engines to incorporate rift drives, though right now all that really entails is figuring out where they are pulling all the energy needed from. I might switch my focus to allowing our engines to work in the Xur distortion fields... seems more useful now that I'm back out here." Zunite yawned. "Not that I would ever want to be practical or anything." Jake shook his head. "I wish you luck with that, we can use that kind of implementation though," he said and stood up, stretching out a little bit. "How is your condition faring? You are getting all the food you need yes?" he asked. Zunite started to get up from the mat. "My condition?" She rolled her eyes. "You are old fashioned, aren't you." She shook her head. "I'm eating everything in sight, including the wall plating of my quarters... I'm sure Daren will be very upset when he realizes that his VIP quarters will soon be exposed to space." She paused. "Though knowing my luck, they probably would be the next major space battle we get into anyways. prevents you from doing tasks normally does it not," Prescot said and helped Zunite up to her feet carefully. "Is that not the medical description for a condition?" Prescot wondered for half a moment why she would think that he wasn’t old fashioned. Zunite raised an eyebrow at Jake. "Prevents me from doing what normally? I only have to watch what I eat a little bit more and stay away from things that are normally considered bad for you anyways.... Really I'd call being pregnant more of a state of being than a condition... Rather pleasant at times really...I hear it's after they're born that you have to watch out. Males I hear get particularly nasty after they learn how to talk." Zunite grinned at Prescot, before briefly checking her watch. “I should be heading back to the lab soon, and I need to shower. Perhaps we can spar again sometime. Just stop by the lab and let me know when.” Zunite waved as she headed out of the gym.
