William Daren

Daren sat in his ready room. It was as usual rather dimly lit, and he liked it that way. He contemplated his recent promotion to the rank of Commodore. Commodore William Daren. Something there just didn't sound quite right. Don't misunderstand, Daren was immensly greatful that the Admiral saw fit to recognize him with such a raise in rank...but there was just something so much more romantic about the rank of Captain. He wasn't going to let it bother him...he soon shrugged it off and went back to reading the analysis reports of the Squadron of ships that weeks earlier had arrived to form Coronado's own personal escort fleet. They would be his to command as he saw fit, it was an interesting feeling.

The five ships, four of them Furious-class, were small but mighty. Many of the crew had just graduated the Reorsan Academy, and had not seen much action. Daren smiled and remembered how he had once been so young and inexperienced. Three of the four Furious ships were "Captain"ed by mere Commanders. The fifth ship, a Wraith, was Commanded by Captain Julian Mitchell. Mitchell had been raised on the Wraith class and was well seasoned in their operations. The ship functioned as the lead vessel in the squadron, and reported directly to Coronado's Command Staff for it's routine assignments.

Daren knew the reason behind assigning the new group to Coronado was offensive as well as defensive. Coronado would be much better protected with smaller ships around, Daren just hoped this wasn't a sign of rougher roads ahead.

He put the PADD down and entered the bridge...
