Captain Jarod Bentall
Posted on Friday, January 23, 2004 - 12:23 pm:

Jarod sat behind his desk at the construction yard for Project Athena. He was reading a PADD that contained a personal message for him from Admiral LoraKor

The skeletal structure for Athena had been successfully placed into orbit around the planet some two weeks previous, shortly after returning from Xanadu.

His experience there, hosting one of the Admiral's previous hosts had unsettled him to say the least. The reaction he got from some of his former crew mates had also opened his eyes to a problem he had all but ignored since his "resurection". His friends still thought he was dead. They thought he was nothing more than a clone. And they treated him as such. That is all except for the Admiral.

Perhaps being a Trill gave him a different perspective on life and death. Jarod didn't know but he knew he needed a change and the Admiral had just handed him the opportunity for a change on a silver platter.

The Admiral needed a new S-2. This would give Jarod and chance to work with the man who had been his greatest CO and a good friend. It also gave him a chance to work in a position that could lead to the admirality. Lastly it would put him in daily close contact with those people he called friends, yet they couldn't stand being around him anymore.

He smiled and sent a message back to the Admiral. Three simple words were all it took. "Yes, thank you."

With the year he had spent as CO of Blackrazor he had a pretty good handle on the intelligence gathering situation in M64 so it was natural fit. Being back on board Coronado would be like going home again.

He rose and walked out of the office, he stopped at his assistant's desk and dropped his transfer orders into her waiting hand. "Thank you Lieutenant, for all your hard work the past few months. Good luck with whoever they get to replace me."

Lieutenant Vercetti smiled. "Thank you Captain. From what I hear you're going to need the luck more than I."

Jarod smiled, nodded and waved as he walked out the door and to the shuttle bay. From there he would take a shuttle and redevous with Coronado in a day or two.
