Alpha Flight Mission Report From: 2nd Lieutenant Edward Somansky, Alpha Flight Lead To: Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Prescot, Battalion Commander 1BBN/8REG Our third mapping sortie began with Alpha flight taking the “North” end of the field. Alpha lead, along with Alpha One and Two began sensor sweeps starting at the last mapped edge of the field and continued on a course away from Coronado. Alpha Three was ordered to position himself with line of sight to the Coronado as to avoid any possible distortions the field may have had on transmission. The mapping run took us to the outskirts of the nebula, where we were forced to change course to avoid entering. Upon the Coronado’s decision to move closer in to investigate, Alpha took advantage and moved the “back end” of the anomaly and began mapping. Once again, Alpha Lead, Alpha One, and Alpha Two ran mapping sequences, while Alpha Three took up a position in line of sight with the Coronado to transmit data. As our fuel ran low I decided to call for a refuel of Alpha Flight. I ordered Alpha One and Alpha Two to bring themselves to Alpha Three’s position, then return to Coronado for refuel. Approximately 45 seconds to landing, Alpha Flight’s sensors picked up a large energy anomaly within the current anomaly under investigation. I ordered Alpha Flight to arm weapons and navigated my Spectre to provide a view of what was happening. From this new anomaly emerged some sort of large vessel. As the vessel took off from our view, I ordered Alpha Flight to continue landing sequence, not having the fuel for any kind of pursuit. About 20 seconds from landing sequence, Coronado brought itself about and took off in pursuit of the vessel that emerged from the second anomaly. Alpha escaped damage, although it has been noted by Alpha Lead’s RIO that if the Coronado took off 10 seconds later, a majority of Alpha flight would have been seriously damaged or destroyed. With the Coronado gone, Alpha flight took up a position with Beta flight, until ordered by Coronado to rendezvous with the Defiant-class destroyers in our area, and wait for recovery. Upon the Coronado’s return, Alpha returned to Coronado. Around 30 seconds to landing, another energy anomaly appeared, in the same position that the last one had been. Once again. I ordered Alpha to arm weapons and brought us around to see a similar or identical vessel emerge from the anomaly. After it disappeared from our sensor range, I ordered Alpha to resume landing sequence and were recovered for refueling. -End of Report-
