Brigadier General Jeremy Ironside - Supreme Commander, Defender Ground Forces
Posted on Monday, November 24, 2003 - 10:08 pm:

Ironside would have slept soundly, were it not for the dreams. The haze, the shadowed forms, his plate mail and broadsword. Wave upon wave broke themselves upon his thrusts and slashes, fading back into the mist to reform and re-advance.

His doppelganger was no longer present, though he could feel some presence observing his progress. For a split moment, he though he was able to hear the observer’s voice,

“It’s a cruiser. Should we wake the General?”

His eyes snapped open and sat upright on the bio-bed, his mind reasserting himself. A quick briefing from the officers near him supported the voice that had awoken him – a Klingon cruiser was approaching the battered and nigh-crippled Coronado.

He inwardly sighed. He had hoped that the fact that this was possibly an alternate timeline would preclude the arrival of the renegade’s vessel. He knew Coronado’s history well enough to recall that after retaking the ship, it was crippled so badly it was in need in scuttling. In a twist of irony, it was the renegade’s ship that took Coronado’s position on the evacuation line.

Hence, it was only reasonable to assume that, at some point, a Klingon vessel would show up.

He only hoped that it turned out to be friendly rather than hostile. With only twenty odd officers and crew trained enough in armed combat to put up any show of force to Klingons, taking over that cruiser through strength was a nigh-impossible task…
