Lt. SG Maiko D'rall

Life on Coronado for a Reorsan involved a lot of firsts - replicators, for instance. Holograms took a bit of getting used to, and in this case, not just any hologram, but a sentient one. She was a littel uncomfortable with that at first, but now she saw Savant as a rather intelligent person who was just around all the time.
Slipstream had been fascinating the first few times but was routine for everyone else, so it became that for her.

There were still plenty of firsts though, this one included - the first time she was told the location of one of her officers was sitting on the outside of the hull.

She approached the seated form carefully, knowing full well that her footing was far from what it used to be. "Ensign?" No response. She slowed to a stop behind him.

"Harry?"

He turned to look at her. "Sorry. I was... thinking." The use of his first name showed in the confusion on his face.

"I think I understand." She looked out at Xanadu spread around them, for all intents and purposes the saucer a metallic island in the midst of...

"Is there something you're here for ma'am?"

She was jarred out of her thoughts by his question and she was startled to see him looking at her with concern. How long had she been staring out at Xanadu? And why was her mind constantly drifting lately?

Shrugging it off, she forced concentration back into what she had come out here for. "We'll be taking off in a few minutes. The admiral's apparently making a few last minute requests, so maybe another half hour at the latest. And..."

"You're kicking me off Coronado."

The interruption came as a complete surprise. "Harry, I'm not kicking you off. I'm not sure who told you what, but..."

"..but I don't measure up to everyone standards." He turned towards her, face red with anger. "It's what they said at the Academy and what's been said..."

"What I've said is that your a damn good pilot when it comes to small craft - heyll, if I put you in the cockpit of a Hornet you could probably even blow *ME* out of the sky, and it takes a lot for me to admit that." He looked shocked at that, but she gave him no room to reply.

"The fact of the matter is, your talent is being wasted here. I'm not saying you aren't a good starship pilot, but there are those out there that can do what you do but aren't good in small craft operations. I haven't asked that you be transfered off Coronado, I've asked that you be either transferred to the marines here on Coronado or to the Reorsan Starfleet Academy either to teach or train as a fighter pilot."

She reached out and put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "You're not happy here, and I think you know that as much as I do. I'm just trying to help you get a chance to do something you'll enjoy."

It was clear he was rather speechless, then finally he regained control, chuckling. "Just when I thought I had you figured out ma'am..."

He got up, dusting himself off, giving her a grateful smile. "Thanks."

Maiko shrugged, thinking of what Tal had left in her Post-Death file. "Don't thank me. Just make me proud."
