The Third Chamber of Xanadu was as oppressive as ever, and Kariasa Ma'Aru tried her best not to look out at it as the Arrow Packet weaved its way through the narrow jumble of machinery. Simply flying along an established route, the Warrant Officer at the controls was as languidly bored now as he'd been for the past hour ago, when the packet jumped away from Reorsa at Slipstream.

Not that she could readily rebuke him for it, her own agitation with this little excursion was just as real, though not as apparent. She was busier now that she'd ever been and leaving her ship in the middle of a large refit took a lot of effort. But the message had been very succinct, and there were a few people who'd she'd do nearly anything for.

They were entering the fourth chamber and the WO finally reached for the controls. The landing was hard, and the craft rattled as it came to a rest on one of the many grassy hills across the asteroids concave interior; he was still wincing as Kari went out the rear exit.

Fifty yards away a small assembly of people milled around a medical bed, contrasting sharply with the lush surroundings of the fourth chamber. She hadn't walked far when a figure that had to be Savant spotted her and waved.
