Thoughts flashed through her brain. What the hell had happened? She clearly recalled resetting the time stream and ordering Coronado to head straight to Xanadu. She recalled ordering her own arrest and that of General Ironside. As far as she was concerned, both of them had presented a potential danger to Coronado and to the universe. Both had been used against Coronado's attempts to recover the data contained within the Jjaro Eye. Everyone on the bridge had known it. And they had most willingly gone along with her order for her own detainment. But why the hell had no one tried to detain Ironside? Why the hell was he allowed to run free whe he was just as much a potential instrument of destruction as she herself? And that, she supposed, was why she had taken such extreme measures. She hadn't wanted to take Captain Daren hostage. She was rather fond of the rash young tactical officer who liked to play at being Captain. He was very personable, and he was certainly handsome in his way. And she was still a little unclear as to what logic had led her to taking him prisoner. She just knew that Daren and the others had to be made to listen. She had known that in the very core of her being. Surely they would not have endangered their captain without seeking a peaceful resolution. But she had underestimated Prescot's natural Camelynian hostility towards Romulans. As desperately as she had been trying to save lives, she had fallen prey to one of the oldest of all tactical blunders - she had thought herself smarter than her enemies, and she had been right. Prescot had chosen to sacrifice Daren's life, Tal's life, and ultimately his own because he had been arrogant, stupid, and irrational. The Marine commander had charged into a situation with his sword flashing when he should have tried intelligent discourse first. She would not make the same mistake again, and she prayed to that God she sometimes prayed to that neither would Prescot. ==== Christian D. Clem '01, aka "Aggie" Cdr.
