Captain Daren
Posted on Monday, July 07, 2003 - 09:45 pm:

"Sir, I really think we should have chosen a Spectre..."

Daren looked down at the Minerva's computer display. He'd been running a detailed scan of the area and attempting to get a feel for how the race was progressing.

"Well, we're not last...standby, approaching the second marker...throttle back, Major."

"Aye." Prescot eased back on the impulse controls and the ship slowed considerably within it's limit to pass through the marker.

"As soon as we're clear, bring us back up to max, I'll see what I can do about getting us some more juice!" Daren began rerouting power to the impulse manifolds, hoping to squeeze everything he cold get from them. The Minerva was a capable little craft and Daren rather liked it's versatility, but it wasn't much of a drag-racer. That much was certainly clear.

Both Daren and Prescot were about the same in the piloting department, but the Marine had Spectre experience, and a good amount of it. Daren wasn't much behind the stick of a fighter but he realized know perhaps they would be somewhere leading the race pack if they had both squeezed into one. Daren told himself the Minerva would be well equipped to handle most of the "tasks" that were bound to be coming up in the race. Hejust hoped the shooting stayed to a minimum. The Minerva wasn't much in combat...nothing like Kelaka or that Wraith he knew Tal was out there riding on.

"How're we doing, Sir?"

"I think we should have taken a Spectre, Major." Daren smirked and looked to his left.

"You know, I recall one of us saying that a few hours ago." Prescot tilted his head.

"Yeah...yeah...yeah", Daren winked.
