Jarod looked out of the big bay window from his office. This window overlooked the immense construction area where Athen's structural skeleton would be constructed before it and the offices he stood in where put into orbit. His thoughts were interupted by the comm on his desk beeping. "Yes Lieutenant?" he replied to the beep. "Just a reminder Captain, that the first senior staff meeting is about to begin." First staff meeting. A basic introduction to the other seven members of the senior design team. The real work would start tomorrow when they met to go over the design. "Alright Lieutenant. I'm on my way." Five minutes later he sat at the head of a large oval conferance table. "Good morning everyone. Tomorrow we'll get going in earnest but today I just wanted to have everyone meet one another. So let's just introduce ourselves and setup the time table for tomorrow." The other members of the team smiled and nodded. "Seeing how I'm in charge I guess I should go first." He spent the next fifteen minutes giving a very brief history of his life, concentrating on his Starfleet career, but glossing over his death and subsequent ressurection. When he finished a middle aged woman to his right began. "I'm Lieutenant Commander Trudy Franklin and I'm in chrage of overseeing the medical capabilities of the design." She went on for another twenty minutes before turning to the younger man to her right. "I'm Lieutenant Charles Gunn. I'm in charge of the tactical and internal security aspects of Athena." Lieutenant Gunn went on for only another five and then turned the floor over to the braid to his right. "I - we are Ensign Cloud Runner and I - we are in charge of the engineering aspects of this project." The braid clearly felt uncomfortable as it stopped talking. The stern looking older man next to him wasted no time in picking up the loop. "Colonel Scott Reeves. I'll be overseeing the design phase of anything Marine related." The Colonel began droning on and on about his accomplishments. Finally Jarod had to stop him. "We get the idea Colonel. You and I should get together for a drink later so you can continue but I'd like to get through this tonight if we can." He smiled at the Colonel and got a scowl in return. Jarod kept smiling and indicated the Vulcan to the Colonel's right should go next. "I am Commander Vertok. I am to oversee the design of all things Science related. I will not go into my background any further as logic dictates that my record is public domain." Jarod nodded. "The empty space will be occupied but our Navigation / Helm design expert. As yet we've not found a suitable person to fill the position. The last member of our command team is Lieutenant Vercetti here whom you've all met I believe." A few nods where made before Jarod continued. "Let's take the night off and reconvene here tomorrow to begin going over the design of Athena and seting up the construction schedule. We'll leave navigation and helm to a later date but hopefully we'll have our expert before actual construction begins. Any questions?" Seeing that there where none he continued. "Alright then, I will see you all here tomorrow at 0900 hours. Have fun tonight. That's an order, dismissed." He sat back as they all got up and left. Tomorrow was going to be a big day. |
