(at the end of last week's sim...) "And what is it you need to say to her so desperately, Commander?" Daren asked. "Captain, I intend to find answers," stated Sieven directly, and left sickbay. * * * Sieven stepped into the dark cabin of Kelaka, shivering as the chill of the steely, lifeless shuttle began seeping into his bones. He sat into the pilot's seat and brushed the controls, which slowly glowed to life. Wordlessly, he began readying the ship to depart. The Cardassian-designed yacht bristled with power as Sieven activated its core, its own life support systems taking over, the air temperature gradually increasing. A low, warm purr could be felt through the ship as its artifical gravity systems came online, and a shudder as the computer began activating and running diagnostics on most of the systems. As the shuttle warmed up, Sieven quickly drew up a flight plan. A pilot who operated by most of the rules, he made sure he covered all of the bases. It wasn't as natural for him to go through preflight as it had been for a seasoned pilot like the Admiral, and thinking about him sitting in this seat only days before had a twofold effect on his emotions. It was disconcerting that Tebrun was missing, or gone, but the thought of getting answers envigorated him. He understood that the appropriate human response to the incident was denial, but there was something wrong. Ironside had wondered if Sieven, being an El-Aurian and sensitive to temporal disturbances, had noticed anything different. He had initially said no, however as time passed, there was something wrong with the situation. All of the impulses suggested to him was that Tebrun didn't die in any warp core accident. The Trill's dreams, the odd effects seen on Ironside, Wayne, and D'rall, other odd occurences, and the proximity to Xanadu, quickly becoming the creepiest haunted house in the universe, made it implausible to conclude that it was just an accident. "Flight control, from Kelaka, preflight complete." "Acknowledged, Kelaka, opening egress doors." A sliver of pale green filled the chamber as the bay doors below Kelaka slowly opened. Below him he could see rain clouds slowly moving across the landscape, splotches of green hills disappeared as the gloom advanced. Even from this height, he could see the spire towering up through the thick gray clouds, glistening in the light of the singularities above him. With a tired sigh, he brought his hand over to the engine controls and throttled up. Kelaka shuddered in excitement as the engines came to life. "Kelaka from flight control, you are cleared to disembark." "Thank you, flight control. I'll be back shortly." "Good luck, commander. Flight control, out." Sieven throttled back down and disengaged the moorings, nudging the shuttle out of the bay. Once clear of the lower edge of the saucer, he pushed the nose down towards the spire. The glare of the nearby singularities reflected off of Kelaka's hull as it passed out of its eclipsing mothership's shadow. "I'm going to find you, Tebrun. Even if I may unravel the very threads of time, I will discover the truth." Kelaka's engines growled in reply as Sieven sped towards his objective. BTC
