Jarod was sitting on the bridge of Blackrazor reading over a PADD. His XO sat next to him also reading over a PADD. Jarod sighed and looked up at the viewer then leaned over and said "Are you getting as bored with this constant patrolling as I am?" His XO smiled slightly. "Of course. But then I said that to you a week ago." Jarod smiled at her and looked over at the helm station. "Helm, reverse our patrol for the next couple of hours." "Aye Captain." responded the helm officer, who was clearly bored as well. "Apparentlly Admiral Wallace has forgotten about us after all." offered Sarah Jarod just grinned. Then he stood up and stretched. He was about to respond when his tactical officer interuppted. "Captain, I've got an incoming transmission for you from Admiral LoraKor." "On screen Lieutenant." Sarah ordered. "Actually Ma'am it's tagged with a Captain's Eyes only." replied the officer apologetically. Jarod raised both eyebrows in surprise. "Something must be up. Put it through to my ready room Lieutenant." "Aye Captain." "Exec, you have the bridge." He smiled at her as he walked over to his ready room. Sarah watched him go and then looked back down to her PADD. Twenty minutes went by and Sarah was getting concerned. "Something really big must be happening." she said to no one in particular. She was about to rise when Jarod walked out of his ready room. He didn't look all that happy. Sitting down he looked at Sarah and offered her a tight grin. "Helm, set a course for Reor'sa and engage at maximum warp." Sarah blinked in surprise and leaned over to ask what was going on. "Jarod, what did he say? You don't look happy." "The admiral took my command away. He told me he needed me to oversee something he called the Athena Project." Jarod clenched and unclenched his fist. Sarah blinked again. "What is the Athena Project?" Jarod looked at her and shook his head. "He wouldn't tell me. Apparently I'll be filled in when I get there and take command of my "office". He'd only say that I'd be there for a little over a year and then I would get command of a starship back." "What does that mean for us?" Jarod shook his head again. "I don't know Sarah. I really don't know." Sarah frowned. "I could put in for a transfer to this Project Athena as your XO?" she offered. Jarod smiled and stroked her hand. "I'm afraid the Admiral has other plans in mind for you my dear." "Such as?" "Once we get to Reor'sa I'll be handing over command of Blackrazor to her new Captain." Jarod smiled again. "Congratulations Captain Hunter." Sarah sat back slightly stunned. For the first time since Jarod and known her she had been rendered speechless. "Well Exec I have some things to do so I'll leave you to the bridge." He got up and headed for the lift. |
