Savant returned to Coronado willingly, but not entirely. She had agreed to stay with Alicia in exchange for some privelidged information, and honoured the agreement. What's more, she enjoyed the company of the enigmatic program. They operated along similar protocols, and real companionship was something Savant rarely encountered. She enjoyed every cycle of operation in Alicia's august company. However, that didn't mean that she forgot her duty. She sent out her sensory subroutines throught he Ansible network, attaching herself back to the ships of the fleet like tiny digital remoras. She left an equal number on Xanadu, allowing her to keep her promise to the guardian of Xanadu. These subroutines could equally function as a conduit, allowing Alicia access to the ansible network through Savant's mediation. That was Savants' gift to Alicia for being such a gracious host. She moved back to Coronado after her restful break, much relieved. She had been watching events but trusted Kor implicitly, she hadn't worried when he had left. When he returned, however, things seemed to be getting interesting enough to warrant the end of her holiday. The arrival of a small Marine army along with Lora, and the deposition of Wallace, was impetus enough. |
