Capt. Tek Gargon
Posted on Friday, May 02, 2003 - 02:40 am:

Great winds swept across the great precipice overlooking the City of Alexandria. A lone figure stood atop, solitary and alone. It was a massive man, though he looked as if he were carved straight out of the rock itself. One might almost have mistaken him for a piece of the scenery had he not been clothed in a Starfleet uniform.

He shifted uncomfortably. His uniform was already stretched tightly over his bulging frame, but something about the deadness of Alexandria and Xanadu made him feel as if his uniform were trying to crawl into his very skin.

All in all, however, he was glad that he come. Despite his gruff exterior, Captain Tek Gargon had always been an explorer. The fact that he had been chosen to lead the latest expedition of colony ships through the Hayashi hypergate to join the displaced Taskforces 5.1, 5.3, and 5.4 had thrilled him to no end.

"Swell," he had rumbled to the Admiral giving him his order. The concession had been quite an emotional outburst for the rather reserved Brikar.

Now that he had arrived in M64, commander of the aging-but-reliable Akira-class cruiser Archimedes and leading the way for new colonists, he was ecstatic. His Vulcan first officer had practically suffered a heart attack when she had heard his amazed response to seeing Xanadu for the first time.

"That's it?"

Once Commander T'lop had been awakened, she had been assured that Gargon was still in full possession of his normally stoic faculties. The powerful Brikar captain did not like having been so emotionally open in front of his crew. But some things were beyond even his control.

Though he had arrived at Xanadu too late to be of use to Admiral Lora Kor's assault on Admiral Wallace's fortifications, Gargon had been more than happy to drop off the three dozen archeologists and surveyors and physicists that he had picked up at Reor'sa. He had found their presence unsettling, though he wasn't sure why. Perhaps it was their air of superiority. He couldn't stand when otherwise smart people thought him stupid simply because he looked like a small mountain and barely said two complete sentences in a day.

One scientist had learned not to mock the captain the hard way when Gargon had tapped the man lightly on the back of the head for an inappropriate comment. That had been four days ago. He was expected to recover shortly.

Another shiver shot down his spine. No one observing would have been able to tell it, but from his tiny sparkling black eyes to his three-fingered hands to his massive boots, Gargon was extremely ill at ease amidst all the death and destruction around him in Xanadu. He turned to leave, sending a quick signal to his shuttle to run through its automated preflight checks before he got there.

Maybe when he got back to Archimedes, he would play with his guppy and have a platter of taquitos.

OOC: Enter Tek "The Rock" Gargon. Nothing special here, just introducing a new NPC ship and character for Ross to play with. And I had to bring back the character I've had the most fun playing over the years. ;)
