"To understand just how we felt at the time, you have to consider everything that had occured in the leading weeks. We had botched a first contact mission. The higher-ups were cracking down on command, which was cracking down on us in drills and the like. Then we come within centimeters of loosing the ship on a simple visit to an ally. Spent a few days on rations in reduced power mode. Then we finally get the warp engines going again and head for the nearest repair... and in the space of a few minutes, all hell had broken loose." "We were stuck in what was essentially nowhere. No stars, no navigational aids, and for all intents and purposes, blind to the outside world but for limited sensors, but fully aware that there was a Pfhor ship out there threatening us. We had no impulse engines, limited gravity, thruster propulsion only... a single shot probably would have finished us." "Then again, we were all expecting that anyways..." - Excerpt from "For This I Get To Wear A Phaser?", Autobiography by Maiko D'rall -- HELM/ACTING OPS REPORT, SD 240303.13 -- Major damage to the lower decks of the ship has forced massive power cuts to all departments, including flight ops. Flight Ops is currently operating within Restricted Flight Mode operations, with only thruster propulsion available at the moment. Warp and impulse propulsion remains unavailable. Navigational data is extremely limited in our current environment due to the lack of stars or outside beacon signals to triangulate our position. For the moment, the best we can do is 'guesstimate' our present position based on observed motion and ordered course changes and speeds. Operations has seen it necessary to resume reduced power mode due to limited power generation onboard at the moment. Further power allocation decisions have been transferred to engineering for the duration of this crisis. Any crewmember not on active duty or assisting in repairs should have relocated themselves to emergency shelters at this time. Crewmembers with engineering experience should report to the Chief Engineer immediately. All extravehicular flight operations have been postponed indefinitely excepting special circumstances as approved by the Commanding Officer.
