Jarod Bentall
Posted on Thursday, March 21, 2002 - 11:05 pm:

Captain Jarod Bentall stood on a makeshift transporter pad, attached to a strange looking device that in Jarod's mind could only have been designed and built by the Professor.

After a moment of confusion he realised he was in one of the cargo bays and not in the pilots seat of one of the Wraiths. He was supposed to be taking command of the Wraith to go after a Romulan Destroyer in a daring attempt to try and see inside the Romulan technology in attepmts to end the war.

Looking at Savant and then the odd looking creature that looked like a giant centipede but for some reason was wearing a Starfleet comm badge and Lieutenant Junior Grade rank pips, then back at Savant he asked "Where am I?"

An almost inaudible whisper from Savant was the only response he got from her "Captain Bentall?!" with that she vanished in flash of lights.

Bentall grew more confused as he looked to the centipede. "Well? Why aren't I aboard the Wraith? For that matter who and what are you? And what are you doing on this ship?"

Thoughts stood there uncertain what to tell this man who apparently had just returned from the dead. "Uh... Captain Bentall is it?"

Bentall stepped off the pad and looked around again. "Yes. I'm the executive officer of this ship still. I haven't made up my mind on taking my own command just yet."

"Captain Jarod Bentall? Executive officer of the USS Coronado?" asked Thoughts again.

Bentall's face grew angry. "Yes. For the final time who are you and what is going on?"

"Well sir. I'm Lieutenant Junior Grade Caring-Thoughts. System Specialist and Reasoran Liaison to the Coronado. As for what is going on... Well, apparently sir you've just been ressurected from the dead."

"DEAD?!"

"Uhh... Yes sir. You were killed in action during the mission to take the romulan destroyer if I've read my history correctly."

Jarod was stunned into silence. Dead and history told him more then meets the eye was going on. Not to mention the strange creature before him. He sat down rather heavily on the edge of the transporter.

"Sir, might I suggest we get you to sickbay? Doctor Thompson will want to examine you and then I'm sure Captain Lora Kor will want to meet with you."

Bentall just nodded but remained seated trying to wrap his mind around what he just heard.

"Uh, Captain? Are you ok?"

Bentall looked up and smiled before rising. "No Lieutenant, I'm not. But I'm sure I will be once I've found out what's going on."

A few moments later Bentall sat on a bio bed in sickbay. The trip over had been horrifying and some what comforting at the same time.

Thompson finished up the scans. "Well Captain you look to be in excellent health. You've obviously just suffered a fairly nasty shock though."

Bentall had been informed of what had happened a little under a year ago and he still had trouble believing it. "Understatement of the year Doctor. But with everything I've seen on this ship I'm sure I'll survive."

Thompson nodded. "Well in that case I will release you to your own devices. If you experience any problems come see me immediately."

Jarod nodded. Thoughts had left to return to duty and a confused Daren and assigned him to guest quarters. The captain had yet to hear of his sudden return as he was away.

Jarod left sickbay nad made his way to his temporary quarters for the night, avoiding the stares of the crew.

Arriving in his quarters he pondered some of what he had heard. "Computer, please display list of all senior crew."

The display screen lit up and a list of the current senior crew came up. Some names he recognized though they had been promoted.

Others were missing. Dejat being the most notable one. Jarod sighed and turned the display off. Rising he moved to the bed and lay down, quickly falling asleep.

The following morning he awoke and decided to head for the bridge. The ship he noted was at red alaert. How he had missed the alarm klaxons going he didn't know but as a Captain he figured he could probably lend a hand.

Moments later he stood on the bridge, which for some reason was now on deck 9 and stared into the view tank.

A battle raged in absolute darkness. No one had noticed his entrance yet and under the circumstances it was probably a good idea. He did note that the Captain had returned and he wanted more then ever to speak with him.

He still didn't now what was goingon, nor did he know why Savant had reacted the way she did, but he did know that the answers would have to wait. For the time being.

To Be Continued in sim.
