*** CLASSIFIED *** The following is an official Starfleet medical document. It may not be altered or tampered with in any way. Such alteration could be cause for extreme legal and disciplinary measures to be taken. To: Captain William Daren; Rear Admiral Tebrun Lora Kor CC: Commander Darek Smith From: Doctor Alec Reed Re: Paqui Gentlemen, Based on my analysis of Olmeoaxaca Tlaloco's child Paqui, I have come to several medical-based conclusions to which I feel compelled to draw your attention. I do not come to these conclusions lightly, nor do I presume to know how they will affect any factors outside the realm of my purview – namely, USS Coronado and her personnel. I realize that there may be (and probably are) additional factors that will ultimately play into the final decision regarding Paqui. PHYSICAL/MENTAL EVALUATION Paqui is endowed with tremendous mental capability. While not exceptional by any measure physically – beyond the fact that he is a hybrid being – his mental faculty is extraordinary. He is, as has been previously documented, half-human, half-S'pht. This latter genetic heritage has endowed him with what could be likened to non-directed artificial intelligence-like mental acuity. That is, he has exceptional motor control and general logic-based skill, but is significantly lacking in comprehension and even ability to comprehend cultural and moral values, as we understand them. This latter is the first red flag I feel compelled to point out. Paqui also has the ability to interface with computers directly with his mind, in a sort of ODN telepathy. Within a very short time period, he would conceivably be able to instruct the computer to perform any action it is capable of carrying out on a whim. Were he able to access a computer with a holographic generator, for instance, he would be able to generate holograms at will. Similarly, he could access and take control of the Savant program – and Coronado's computers in general – and render us all effectively helpless, beyond actually directly destroying the hardware he's using. I may be exaggerating in this instance, as am unaware as to how overrides will actually affect Paqui's access, if at all. RECOMMENDATIONS As you can surely see, Paqui presents an extreme threat to the safety of Coronado, should he be allowed to leave the stasis field he is currently contained in. Additionally, I do not feel that it is reasonable for any living being to be contained simply because of what they can do. However, to keep Paqui aboard Coronado, one or the other would have to be violated. As a result, in the interests of the liberty of all sentient beings and the safety of Coronado's officers and crew, I must strongly recommend that Paqui be removed from USS Coronado and taken to a remote area bereft of electronics and computer systems with which he could possibly harm others. I am not suggesting that we cut him loose, as it were, but rather that we place him in a secure location wherein we can monitor his progress and ensure his well-being without allowing the possibility that he will hurt others. *** CLASSIFIED *** |
