"Did the major make it up alright??" SAW Operator 2nd Squad 1st Platoon Alpha Company, Pvt Weston Cates asked, coming up uncomfortably close to the nearby medic. "Lay off asshole! That’s what I’m trying to find out," Medic Lance Corporal Daniels said, shoving back Cates. He paused for a few moments. "He’s on the Coronado there. That’s all I can tell in this mess. Its a mad house of COMM traffic out there." "Corporal Rupp was close by when the incident took place. The wounds looked very critical, but the Corporal was very efficient in his efforts to stabilize Major Prescot," Virel responded in his dry monotone over the Squad communications channel, his head not moving away from the console on the civilian speeder he was fixing. "Virel's right..." Pvt Hilts spoke up as he scanned the surrounding countryside. "The major was damn lucky to have such a good Medic nearby. I just hope he pulls through this.." "F*$%^, I hope WE pull through this," Cates snorted. "We ain't outta here yet. The Col is barking constantly for us all to get over to the Defense Ministry Building." The private paused for a second then grunted as the new orders filtered down. "Major Miller's in charge now. We got orders to head to the Defense Ministry ASAP." "You got the speeder fixed Virel?" Rupp asked. After a few moments of pause the Vulcan taps a few buttons on the top console and the vehicle comes to life. "Yes. We should go quickly. I imagine that the sensors I still have will be of great use to the defense of the Ministry building." "Then what are we waiting for!!" Hilts called out and climbed up into the driver seat. "Lets move out!" After the four-man group had reassembled on the back of the speeder, Hilts opened up the throttle and they were zooming off at high speeds towards the Defense Ministry Building. |
