Ens. Maiko D`rall

Commander Smith's warning resonated through Maiko's head as she made her way back to her quarters - that her proposal was being considered, but that the captain's initial opinion had been less than optimistic. The "young and inexperienced" jab grated on her nerves - after all, she was by far Coronado's best pilot and had already spent over a decade flying in Reorsa's atmosphere and now her time spent on Coronado piloting...

As she entered her quarters, she sighed heavily. It was obvious she didn't have a marine's instincts or abilities - much less a decent skill at marksmanship. Taking the Teresa down to help evac any people - her people dammit - and maybe even help out in some other way from the skies had been the only other choice for her to help out. The nagging thought of being stuck in orbit while her friends on both Coronado and on Reorsa were in danger drove Maiko to pacing as she wolfed down a quick breakfast.

Though she did not have such a dramatic sense of honor like other races she had heard about, Maiko considered herself bound by honor to help her people. Leaving Reorsa to join the fleet was a decision made to try to help bring about the end of the Pfhor occupation sooner; this same sense of needing to protect her people made her feel honor-bound to be among the first on the surface or help in some way.

But raised as she was, Maiko also felt strongly about her sense of duty, which required her to follow her commanding officer's orders, even if it meant staying in orbit while others fought. Though she knew she could probably 'borrow' the Teresa, her duty forbade her from doing it.

Changing quickly into her uniform, she realized that while she must help those on Reorsa, that she was trapped by her duty; unless her proposal was approved or she was later ordered, she would have to somehow help Reorsa - and if they were still alive, her parents - from the Coronado.
