It consists of a yellow-white class X star on the main sequence, with 10 planetary bodies circling it. Of those 10 planets, only one bears any interest; the third planet, also called Lh’own. The planet Lh’own was originally an arid/desert planet with little to no surface water, but with a oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere and a comfortable atmospheric pressure with temperatures generally hovering in the mid to high 30 degrees Celsius. The planet had three moons: Y’loa, K’lia, and T’jia. There was no natural life. ~1,000,000-2,000,000 years ago At some point, approximately one or two million years ago, the Jjaro noted the planet in an astrological survey of the core regions due to its breathable atmosphere; there are no other planets within approximately a 100ly radius with such an atmosphere. The Jjaro flagged the planet as a possible location for a terraforming project. ~750,000-1,000,000 years ago The majority of Jjaro depart M64 for parts unknown ~10,000 years ago Long after the majority of the Jjaro had left M64 (about a million years ago), two of the remaining Jjaro named Yrro and P’thia, fleeing beings known as “W’rkncactner”, travelled to Lh’own. They set up (in what appears to be standard Jjaro fashion) an outpost on Lh’own’s second moon, K’lia. From this outpost, they constructed several advanced terraforming space stations in orbit of Lh’own, and began the process of converting the planet into a standard class-M. Yrro and P’thia had brought with them numerous biological life forms, presumably in an attempt to save them from the W’rkncactner. As the terraforming of the planet began, they seeded the growing marshes on Lh’own with these life forms. As time wore on, however, it became clear to the two Jjaro that the task of completing the planet’s transformation was beyond the two of them, even with their technology. To assist them, they created the S’pht. The most developed creatures that Yrro and P’thia brought with them were the Flick’ta; humanoid swamp beasts that, although not entirely sentient, thrived in communities with each other. The two Jjaro created the S’pht by grafting Flick’ta brains to some of their technology in a procedure the S’pht came to call “birthing”, as the procedure gave birth to S’pht consciousness. With the assistance of the S’pht, whom through the Jjaro birthing technology had quickly become an advanced culture in a matter of years, the terraforming of Lh’own quickly progressed. ~9,500 years ago At some point before the terraforming of Lh’own was completed, the W’rkncactner caught up with Yrro and P’thia. In the ensuing battle with these beings of pure chaos, distorting and ripping space-time wherever they went, P’thia was killed. Y’rro, maddened with grief, imprisoned the W’rkncactner on the surface of the Lh’own sun through the power of one of the stations that had been constructed in Lh’own orbit. Then, overcome by the loss of P’thia, Yrro bid farewell to the S’pht, telling them that their term as his helpers was over, and broke them into 11 clans. He subsequently shut himself up in the outpost on K’lia, leaving the S’pht to themselves on Lh’own. 9500-5000 years ago At first, the S’pht were confused and lost; they had known only lives as terraformers, helping Yrro and P’thia build Lh’own into what was now a half-terraformed desert/marsh planet. One of their masters was dead; the other had taken himself out of reach of the S’pht. Slowly but surely, the S’pht began to build a culture of their own; one steeped in knowledge and the intricacies of technology. But without guidance, clans soon began to engage in scattered conflicts, and one thing led to another. Massive wars broke out across the planet, and for many years, a vicious cycle of fighting, followed by a necessary peace (lest they destroy themselves), followed by yet more fighting continued. 5000 years ago At this point, all but the S’pht’Kr, the clan with the oldest and the wisest S’pht, were embroiled in the most massive conflict Lh’own had ever seen, a conflict that seemed destined to end the reign of the S’pht on Lh’own forever. The S’pht’Kr, tired of the endless turmoil, gathered the elders of all the clans together in the first meeting of its kind in a thousand years, and told them that they were leaving Lh’own to join Yrro on K’lia. They would return to their brothers only when all of the clans had reunited in peace. The S’pht’Kr left Lh’own, and joined Yrro on K’lia, the second moon. 4000 years ago Although the massive conflict that had threatened to destroy the S’pht had been averted by the S’pht’Kr’s departure, war was still a consistent event on Lh’owon. After 1000 years of residence on K’lia with Yrro, learning from him, and seeing that their brothers still were not close to peace, the S’pht’Kr visited Lh’owon one last time to tell their brethren that they were leaving the system to explore the mysteries of the universe, and left them a cryptic message that detailed how the S’pht could contact them when they had finally reunited in peace. With that, the second moon, K’lia, disappeared from the Lh’owon system, and Yrro departed M64, the last Jjaro to do so. 1000 years ago The Pfhor arrive at Lh’owon. The S’pht set their differences aside to combat the slavers, but the expeditionary force is too large to defeat. The last of the S’pht resistance on the planet, holed up deep in the caverns beneath their Citadel of Antiquity, desperately attempt to contact the S’pht’Kr, but are taken before they can finish decoding the S’pht’Kr’s last cryptic message. 998 years ago The last S’pht is removed from Lh’owon by the Pfhor ~500 years ago Following their own interpretation of S’pht history, and mindful of the likely power of the S’pht’Kr, the Pfhor set up a garrison on Lh’owon. Slowly, as the memory of the S’pht’Kr fades, the garrison becomes a backwater outpost where the Pfhor send the worst of their officers to in order to get them out of the way. ~1 year ago alternate universe The USS-Coronado travels to Lh’owon through the Jjaro catapult in Xanadu. They find a method of contacting the S’pht’Kr, who return and release all their brethren from bondage within the hegemony, effectively crippling the Pfhor Navy.
