Zunite woke to the feeling of Airian awake and quietly got up and walked out her and Dejat’s room and down to four-month-old Airian’s nursery. Picking up Airian before she even started to cry, Zunite began the now fading ritual of Airian’s midnight feeding. One night out of three wasn’t bad she supposed, the circles under her eyes were even starting to fade, and it did always allow her time to think.

As far as she knew Dejat was still asleep in bed, one of the benefits of training in her jedi skills more was that she was now deeply connected to her children. It saved everyone but her a lot of headaches she was sure Airian rarely cried while she was around. Of course it did have downsides, Vilor, now two and a half, had had a tough time learning to talk, but that could have been because of the war that had been going on he was a sensitive child.

She needed to start his jedi training soon, but she was putting it off not wanting to think of the challenges ahead herself not wanting him to be mentally older than everyone in his classes for the rest of his life. There had been that period the first year or two where she tried to fool herself that he didn’t inherit the curse of being able to sense the Force, as far as she knew, with her mother dead, she was the only one that could; but then the clues came. He could find things that she had hid from him and make things happen that he wanted. She had to start training him perhaps tomorrow.

She also had to take the children to visit her father, Ironside. It would brighten his day and perhaps give her some idea on how to manage the fact that she was getting extremely sick of not being in space she obviously was not meant for life as a ground hog. Sure being kicked out of Starfleet a few months before having Vilor wasn’t bad, especially when she and Dejat decided that Reorsa was probably a safer place to raise him than on board the Coronado anyways. But two and a half years later, war having been ended, she wanted off the rock and was really starting to realize how much she hated fresh air.

Zunite finished burping Airian and rocked her asleep. Having children caused her to think of the consequences more, perhaps gain more of a sense of responsibility, finally she felt as if someone were looking up to her for a good example and she had to provide one. Ironside would be proud, since she moved with him in April of 2395, he had been trying to instil in her the need to set a good example and obey orders. She still didn’t agree with the last part some of the time, but at least she was trying to set a good example finally.

Airian finally asleep, she kissed the baby’s soft cheek and put her back down in her crib. Quietly going back to bed, Zunite snuggled to Dejat’s body and fell back asleep while mentally preparing a list of the engineering work she needed to complete in the morning before going to the park with the kids.
